Official Age thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
We should have made this thread a poll, it would be easier to tally up all the numbers. Also, we could see the range and calculate the average. Although with 50+ responses already, it may be too late!

Most schools I've seen publish an average age of 24.

I'm 30 going to be 31. People think I'm around 20-25😀

Dude, don't trip! As long as you take all your pre-req. classes in time and retain some of the stuff you've learned, you'll be good.

If you read through that Kaplan book now, you'll hate everything in it in a few months, and that's not good. I recommend studying 1-2 months before the test. Just go over the book, do the practice PAT tests. Good scores, along with a decent GPA will get you in wherever you want to go. =)

Good luck!

thanks for the advice. My ACT score wasn't as I really wanted it to be. So I wanna make it up in the DAT. By the beginning of this summer, ill have my inorganics, math, english, some bios, taken. So I wanna read the DAT book so i wouldnt lose the knowledge and it would be easier than learning it again in a year. I'm planning to take the DAT at the end of the next summer so I have a year to get the organic chemistry and i'm done "preparing for the DATs"! All that effort because of my regrets about the ACT!!

Oh maaaan,

Oh Jeez! Like youself.

At least you're worrying about it in advance! I'd keep up with the biology right now since there's a lot of stuff. As for inorganic chemistry, I personally didn't think it was too bad, but if you had a hard time in chemistry, dont forget to review that either. Organic chemistry won't be bad at all, seeing as how you'll have just finished your org. chem class right before taking the DATs so a brief review for that will suffice.

The reading comprehension is pretty easy and straight-forward as long as you remember what you read and can read fast enough to finish the section. Quantitative isn't looked upon heavily since it's pretty easy for most people. I thought the PAT was the hardest part since I lagged behind on the earlier sections. Kaplan didn't prepare me enough for the double and half hole-punches that I encountered on the real DAT, so that threw me off. After that, the entire PAT section went badly, but I survived. Just be sure to practice from Kaplan and from Top Score for the PATs and you'll do fine.

Other than that, I don't know what else to tell you except take your DATs early and APPLY EARLY!! If you have any more questions, just PM me.

will be 21 in may!!!

My Age, by boboli_chef

1) My age is a two-digit prime number.
2) Each of the two digits is a prime number.
3) The sum of the two digits is a prime number.
4) The larger of the two digits minus the smaller digit = 1.

What is my age?

(first prize = a  dedicated to you!)

Ok - I was thinking 23! - Did I win a Toyota Camry?

I'm 36, just taking prereqs, doing A work. My undergrad was engineering (3.4 GPA) and I want a career change. If feel that my engineering skills could be a useful background and I have good manual dexterity. Do you think I have a chance at my age with my background??

There is a guy in our class that is pretty old compared to the rest of the class. He will not tell us his age, but we are guessing in the low to mid 40's. I mean the guy already colors his hair bec its turning grey

So yes you do have a chance!

I'm 19, sophomore in undergrad going to be a junior this fall. Have not taken any organic chemistries or physics, am I behind?

denaxtera,
No you aren't behind. I actually know a few people who are in the same position as you. Since organic chemistry is on the DAT I would suggest that you take that ASAP even during your junior year. You can then take the DAT while that information is still fresh in your mind. As far as physics since its not on the DAT, I would recommend you take it either during your junior year along with O chem or during your senior year. Good Luck! 🙂

Mo007, this one's for you...

No Camry, though, because surely the fine print said something about void where prohibited. Isn't this the part where the game show host sticks you with the "lovely parting gifts"?😀
