***Official April 2006 Score Release Countdown Thread***

In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

my room mate called the aamc today and they said that they are being told by the higher ups that the scores will be release between june 19 and june 23. why does everyone think its going to be so soon?

People think it might be sooner because other people have called AAMC and have been told earlier dates. It's so confusing!!

I was told on the phone that mon or tues is when scores will show up online (June 12-13). This was from the mcat program office in Iowa, where tests are actually graded I believe. D.C. office didn't seem to know anything, they said 60 days after the test, so June 22 (standard response). The lady in Iowa told me w

I feel the same way. I'm a non-trad and dropped out of a Ph.D. program to take the MCAT and apply to med school but what if my score isn't high enough to get in anywhere? 🙁 🙁 and I have geographical constraints b/c of my husband's career.

Just my 2 cents but I took the April 2005 MCAT and my score was available at like 11:00 the day before they were supposed to be release. So my guess is it should be close to midnight if not a little bit before.

i took the august 2004 and mine came out at like 3pm. i dont think theres a definite time...just whenever they get all the data entered.

Does this mean there are poor shmucks entering MCAT data at 11 at night? I hope they get paid overtime. And if so, it's pretty nice of AAMC to put such effort into getting us the scores ASAP.

I can't believe the scores are coming out so soon. I don't think about it very much because I have a 6 month old and a 2 year old. With them around, I don't think much, period. But after they go to bed (at 1030 pm tonight, grrr) I come on here and turn into the pukey smiley face. Best of luck to all of us. Is there a patron saint of test scores? Seriously is there?

Hey - none of this. You guys are making me sad.

How bad do you want it? Obviously bad enough to put your life on hold for 6 months for an exam. Probably enough to put your life on hold while you finish your medical degree. Your MCAT score does not define who you are as a person. And it certainly does not define your worth as an application. Your heart and passion for medicine defines you as a doctor. The question you should be asking is what school is worthy enough to educate me so that I can best serve my patients in years to come.

I honestly have no idea. I think they were a little early, but I have no exact number. I doubt that AAMC has an exact day too. Most office settings aren't regimented...and tend to flex and bend based on "criteria of the moment". I would guess that the official release depends on the work load and any problems they have.

That'd actually be pretty hilarious.

You get a few numbers from 1 to 45 knocked out early. The crowd screams when you pick case #28 and the hot model chick opens it up and it says "45". The "bank" tries to offer you a score of 23 to bail out. You decline. Your mother, father, older brother, dog, 7th-grade English teacher, and mailman are there to cheer you on and scream at you when you open up a case with a high number.

Soon, after 3 hours of Howie Mandel's lousy puns and flamboyant antics and Pontiac and Cingular commercial breaks you've only got 4 possible MCAT scores remaining: 9, 20, 26, and 41. Your parents insist that you hang in there to get the 41. The bank tries to cut you a deal of 24. All you want is a handle of vodka and goddamn baseball bat to beat the crap out of Howie Mandel.

To the previous poster's question: the password and username you use for amcas are the same as the ones you use for checking your score (mcat thx). So no, you won't be able to until you register with amcas.
