***Official April 2006 Score Release Countdown Thread***

In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

Ok, let the fun begin.........

Lets pray for all of you and for my very best roommate, and two of my other bestest friends. 😀 May all come with good news in the following two months.

This is for the neurotic ones who just need somewhere to vent their frustration over the wait. 😛

guys i just checked the mcat website and they have this big ass message saying that the scores are coming on the 20th

i think they have been checking this thread and saw that people were asking for this message long time ago so at least we dont have to check THx 20 times a day now we are sure its on the 20th

We were just kidding you...We have beat this dead horse for many many days . And even consulted Chuck Norris twice about getting the scores sooner. Not even the great Chuck could get an early release date....There finally is Kryptonite to the roundhouse kick the damn MCAT graders

you know what i was thinking about today: if mcat score release was done by score sort of like an nba draft. All students with a certain score would be announced one by one every five minutes, starting with 45. So announce all the people with 45's, then all the people with 44's, and so on. And you would just sit there hearing people's names and it would get to 30 and your name wouldn't be called yet and IT WOULD GET REALLY REALLY INTENSE

Actually it'll get intense after 31 and before 30. After 30, a quarter (the GPA 3.5s) will walk out crying, a quarter(the GPA 3.9s) will shoot themselves, a quarter will be resigned to fate (the GPA 3.2s), and the last quarter will stay and rejoice when the low-high 20 scores are called out (the GPS 2.7s). Not that there's any correlation between MCAT and GPA.

I have resigned myself to watching as many movie as I possibly can. Yesterday I watched Capote and then Top Gun. Today I was pleasantly distracted by Pride and Prejudice. It is really quite effective if you choose the movie wisely. May I suggest a romantic comedy- perhaps Four Weddings and a Funeral? Just WHATEVER you do stay away from any movie that has to do with test taking/hospitals/ or any other things of the like!
We have approximately 5 days to endure. We all can get through this if we try!!
And you know if the movies dont work there's always ethanol!!! 😱

Hear hear! As everyone might hate to admit it, the nurses have to know and do just as much work (and usually more!) than the doctors have to do. AND they get pushed around by everyone too 🙁 . They have to do all the preparatory work just to have a doctor come in and wave his/her magical hands for five minutes.

However, every summer, they can usually get some poor pre-med student intern that they can push around a little bit. The nurse's I work with tell me, "it's just so you'll understand what we have to do when you become a doctor." I guess I'll be able to tell future nurse's, "I had to do that as an intern, so I'd know what you do. NOW, DO IT!!!"

J/K Nurse's are cool.

Hah! i can beat that. try 20 minutes of watching the oxygen network and come back and see who is tougher 🙂 hehe just kidding, make sure you mention that to your child growing up, my mom never fails to mention somethig about giving birth to me every waking second of hte moment, which i guess works cause hey, i AM applying for med school and waiting mcat results instead of ruling the mean streets

here's my theory on why the scores are so late this year:

i think most of the CBT'ers were gunners (hyper-obsessive, signed up super-early, traveled great distances just to take it...). therefore, the CBT testers' results as a group were higher than average, and the MCAT people had to reconcile this.

or, the computers slowed them down, so theirs were lower than statistically expected, and the MCAT people had to reconcile this.

Nah, thank goodness! She practicing balancing while standing, though. I have an almost three year old as well so I know all about life after walking. 😉

She was a preemie too so she has done everything a little bit delayed ... so I don't expect her to walk until after she is a year (my first walked at 11 months 😱 )

It's not about it being more effective. It's about it being FASTER. When I took the GRE, they had optional CAD versus pencil and paper, so I took the computer one. It was great. I got my scores then and there, as soon as I was done. 😎 That was ten years ago; not sure if they still do it that way now.

tee hee i guess you still remember hijacking my thread, it sits on your conscience day by night, i know it does. i suppose it is faster, but ive always been better with the old fashoined way, i dont think id be able to look at a computer screen for a few hours and not be able to underline and circle answers. it would be nicer if the CBT was on something like a tablet PC, so you can still write on it, and still have it computerized.
