In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

Ok, let the fun begin.........

59 days and counting........

Lets pray for all of you and for my very best roommate, and two of my other bestest friends. 😀 May all come with good news in the following two months.

This is for the neurotic ones who just need somewhere to vent their frustration over the wait. 😛

I still have to finish my personal statement. :scared: Reading that scores may be released next week actually has me scared, since that is sort of the due date for the application.

Yeah, I was worried about that too until I just finished my first draft. Had about 5 bottles of liquid courage in the process - combine that with lack of sleep and I'm curious to see how it ended up in the morning. Should be an interesting read.

I'm guilty. I've been a free rider on this site since not too long after April 22. I've been soaking up the encouraging and funny discussion but remained a quiet wallflower. 😳 Thank you all. 👍
When law school came up I just had to say 😱 Nooooooo... I tried law. I went to law school and even practiced for a few years. I always had medicine in the back of my mind and last summer I finally left law and went into a postbac premed program. Yay me!
DrVanNostran you seem so nice and personable. I will say what people often told me: you don't seem like a lawyer. I always took that as a compliment 🙂 Ask yourself, do you want to give up directly working with people to find yourself in an office spending most of the time doing research and writing. I finally accepted that I hate writing. It should have been obvious. I was in denial about that for years. If you do not like writing, law is not fun. For me I like that medicine seems very active. I would rather spend a 36 hour shift frantically running around and working with patients, confronting a problem and immediately acting than spending an overnight at a desk in a law office editing and rewriting a document, maybe solving some legal problem but then having to spend hours, again sitting in front of a computer, researching material to support your idea and writing it all in a memo to give to a senior attorney.
OK, that's my contribution to a life decision. I hope it helps.

About that hate writing thing: I still have to finish my personal statement. :scared: Reading that scores may be released next week actually has me scared, since that is sort of the due date for the application. I'm not in such a rush... besides I don't mind living with delusions about my score. I have been fortunate not to have any nightmares. Ignorance is bliss. :luck:

Gil I am honored to be the subject of your second post 😍 You have a very interesting take since you were actually a lawyer. I guess this waiting period for the MCAT has made me insane. I am working on a lot of advocacy and progam issues involving policy right now (well just got in it in recently) and I guess its having an impact on me. I do know that I want to work in a field in which I have a beneficial impact and something that I enjoy. Therefore, the MD/JD route does seem appealing but we will see.

I am just having fun studying for the LSAT to keep my mind of things. About me not seeming like a lawyer--I will take it as a compliment after watching a lot of TV---Unless I am the next Jack McCoy haha.

Gil, whatever med school you do enter you will bring a fascinating contribution to the table. Maybe we will be in anatomy lab next year together discussing health policy

Im out all, night.

I have no idea what kind of score I should expect. One minute I think I must have done well and the next I’m terrified of getting a 25. Although I have school to worry about and haven’t even begun working on my application or PS yet, so that keeps my mind off of the MCAT until I come here.

Yeah, me too! I keep thinking I'm getting a 25! ARGG! I hope we don't get that! :luck: :luck: :luck:

Yes someone who shares my fears! I have already graduated from college and just working. I do remmeber that after taking the test i felt extremely confident about PS having finsihed about 10 minutes early, and felt pretty good about BS, fininshing a little early. Verbal was one that i was iffy about. Proctor called time early and some of the questions were a little difficult. Here's hoping they have a great curve toa ccount for my verbal woes. The closer the MCAT release date comes, the more jittery and unconfident I get.

heeey Pittsburgh woman. Don't playa hate on ur favorite state school............. just kidding, i was at the Pirates 18 inning game this past weekend......it was awesome!
Dude, i so "watched" that one too. that was nuts! i say "watched" b/c i'm in boston and everyone here must be spoon fed red sox twenty four hours out of the day, so we never get any pirates coverage. so my bf and i (also from da burgh) turn on the game day on his computer and "watch" some of the games. 🙂

but i'm really a football fan. watch out come this fall...and yes, i will plan my interview travel schedule around the steelers' games. 🙂

Yeah I am! It's way too tempting to use the bars as a way to forget about this mcat thing...but soon it'll all be over, right? Hopefully...

I just finished my MSII year and let me tell you, I remember every detail about the day that I got my MCAT scores. They were released on the 14th of June. I drove to the computer lab...logged in and my life was changed. I called my mom and the rest is history. Good luck everyone!

2 years later I am studying for USMLE step 1 which is the MCAT on steroids!

My dad said he haid a dream that I told him I got a 44 in a text message (texting is his new thing 🙂 )

so, if I average that with my dream about a 24.....

a 34! ....I'll take it

 You essentially read my mind. I just started taking practice LSAT exams and am around the 162 range so I hope with 3 months of studying that I get a 166ish. The decision all depends on the MCAT and potential LSAT score.

If I score a 30+ I think I will definitely attempt the MD/JD route. But If I dont get into an allopathic school...I was considering (once again depending on my potential LSAT)...

Should I go the osteopathic route or go to what is considered a "good" law school if I was to get in? This is all mind boggling lol.

I can certainly commiserate with your situation. I too think that law is really interesting and has a lot of scientific method behind it, which of course warms my pre-med heart. The biggest reason I would suggest NOT going to law school though is that you probably won't end up doing the thing that initially attracted you to law. The burden of school loans will make that big firm job very appealing, and from what I hear- once you get in and get used to the money- it's hard to justify getting out despite a residency-esque work schedule and incredibly dull and mindless paperpushing. On the other hand, if you don't go to a top school, you may not even be able to get a decent paying job. With law school, it really does matter where you go- and if you decide to go, I would suggest only doing so if you can at LEAST get into a Top 100 school, preferably Top 25.

ugh, it's so up and down...every day i feel something different. today i feel like :barf:

last august i felt bad about my scores right after the exam, then started to feel better as scores were expected to come out. then that terrible day came last october...and i wanted to go back to where i was feeling like i did ok. now i just keep thinking that there's no way i didn't improve...but was it enough? i guess i'll know in a few days...:/

Oh crap. Another nightmare last night.

My scores:

Biological - 9
Physical - 7
Verbal - 3

TOTAL = 19

The 3 on the Verbal really scared me, especially since I think that is the only section I definitely got at least a 10 on.

The 19 TOTAL almost made me cry, even in my dream.

A good night of bar hopping should effectively cure these nightmares

I hear ya. I would be crying too! My realistic prediction for my scores (I hope it not worse) is: BS:10 PS:9 VR: 11 Essays: R I just felt i did well on the VR stuff. Ran out of time on PS and had trouble with the O-Chem in BS, but knew the bio really well.

I feel that I did worse as we get closer. Having a new baby and not sleeping is making my mind play tricks on me. The other day I thought I had tongue cancer that met'd to my neck in 3 hours. I did the obvious thing and looked it up and read that if it met's then it is almost 100% fatal and I started freaking out!!!!

Then I realized, that I burned my tongue at lunch and the bump went away a couple of days later.

DAMN YOU MCAT!!!!!!! crap, I need sleep.

Hi
I just spoke with a woman named C at MCAT we were once again going over my username issues (long story) and i asked about the scores " Like i'm sure a million other kids have" and she said that is what every call has been about and then i asked well do you have a date and she said 2nd week of june meaning = june 12-16 week but anticipate later on because they try to hold to the 60 day rule...
so
that is the same info i heard 2 weeks ago so my guess is 2nd week of june :luck:

Did she specifically say june 12-16?? I'm just surprised cuz yesterday I was told next week (June 5-9) to expect scores and that that's what they considered 2nd week of June.

Does it seem bizarre and down right cruel to anyone else that they would have scores done the 2nd week of June (whenever that really is) but still make us wait for 60 days?!?! What could possibly be the reason for that? Especially since they are being bombarded with calls from anxious premeds asking about release dates...

i agree but that is what she said

Relax. there are too many panties in a bunch on here. They come out when they come out.

Ha! I'm not wearing panties...

Just kidding of course... But it is frustrating that they can't be a little more transparent about the whole process. Or at least get their story straight when they're asked on the phone. Of course we'll all wait (not so) patiently until scores come out since we have no choice, but it'd be nice to know what we're in for....

April 2006 was the second time I took the MCAT. Are my scores for April going to be located right below my August 2005 scores or do I need to log in with a different user name.

Try to hold to the 60 day rule? I should take the above-mentioned bunched-up panties and use them to strangle whatever administrator decided that.

the scores will be located directly underneath your previous scores. there is no message indicating that you took the test, but when the scores come out, they will be there.

Hey Sartre, what's Nietzsche doing on your avatar?
Sartre was definitely cooler than Nietzsche.

Nietzsche is a bit more photogenic than Sartre...or at least in my opinion. They were both existentialists....so I dig em both.

That's very true. Sartre was on the fugly side.

And for the record, I am fighting through the PS as we speak. How do you manage to get so much information in less than 5 pages?!

PS = Physical Sciences?
Less than 5 pages?

doubtful about my scores is an understatement. my performance could totally blow my chances. don't take a practice test now; save them for when you really need them.

i'll go eat some chocolate now...

I guess the thread is slow today as it's Friday.... Alright, everybody... take a rest and have fun before another wave of anxiety is coming next week. 😎

I think this group could muster up neurotic tendencies over the weekend.

So the consensus is that we aren't sure when they are coming out?

We've been trying to escape that conclusion for 10 pages or more, but I don't think we've managed.

Agreed. my sister graduated from pitt law school top of her class, all kinds of honors and whatnot and it took her almost 2 years to get a real job. Law depends on the school and also on who you know. She had great internships but there seems to be a lot of nepatism type stuff. Her best friend got a job with a firm fairly quickly but is totally miserable. Did you know lawyers have their own AA? yes, so many are miserable alchoholics, they have their own AA. My sister went into public interest law and is poor. I don't mean "poor". I mean, she lives in the hood and can't pay her student loans off despite having had half scholarship. Ok, rant over. I have no idea what you should do with your life, but I wish you all the best!

I saw that this thread was at the top of the lists and started to panic that the scores were out...

This whole weekend I'm doing the Avon walk in chicago (39.3 miles) so that should keep me busy.....we will see, anyway.

I also need to finish up my AMCAS so it is ready to go....the whole thing is starting to make me VERY nervous.... :scared:

I have decided that checking my scores may potentially give me a heart attack. I am applying to tons of schools ( don't have much choice as a CA resident), and I am not going to change my mind regardless of what my score is. I figure, at least during the secondaries I can maintain a positive mindset with hopes of getting into med school. That way, I know I would have put in my best effort into the application process. I'm never taking the MCAT again and will not check my scores. I'm getting a really weird queasy feeling just thinking about the scores as of late. Therfore, I hope I have the strength to not look at my MCAT score, because I may die 😱 . Ok, I am being a bit dramatic, but I'm sure some of my brain cells may go into shock, overexcite and burst somewhere in my brain. And what harm did they ever do to me I ask you? What? Their fellow friends already got murdered during the MCAT! I don't want to subject them to another round of horror. :scared: I fear, nonethelss, that something will possess me to check my score along with everyone else.

Hey, everyone! the 3rd is here, meaning there COULD be 4 days left... Realistic range, 4 to 12 more days. The time couldn't pass any slower than it is now. 😳

Wouldn't be awesome if the scores were released on June 6th? I wonder what that would mean for people that got high scores on that day.
