In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

Ok, let the fun begin.........

59 days and counting........

Lets pray for all of you and for my very best roommate, and two of my other bestest friends. 😀 May all come with good news in the following two months.

This is for the neurotic ones who just need somewhere to vent their frustration over the wait. 😛

Yes, Dear Abby would certainly not feel as strongly about asking someone for their MCAT score as she would about inquiring into their coital history. Nevertheless, people who flippantly ask about the score without being offered the information have clearly not considered the gravity of their question and are crossing the boundary into rudeness.

Well - if the people don't know the gravity of the exam, then they are simply trying to either 1. Make conversation or 2. Appear supportive and interested in our medical school application process.

Seriously, the only time I get offended when someone asks about my MCAT score is when it is another pre-med and they seem to be asking for the sole purpose of having a pissing contest.

I don't really like your implication in your first post: that those of us who don't really consider our MCAT personal information are less committed to medical school. That's such complete bull**** I don't even know where to start. Dont' give me that martyr crap. We all worked hard to get here. Just because some of us have a bit of perspective, don't rip on our dedication to medicine.

See, I consider this differently. Many people in my life ask if I have gotten scores yet - my husband, family, friends, people on my other (non medical) messageboards. I don't think it is rude at all. I think people are genuinely curious and excited for me! They know how badly I want to do well and how excited I am to try to become a physician, and they're happy for me. They just want to share in the process with me.

Maybe I would feel differently if people I didn't know asked how I did - but the only people who ask know me well enough to know that I took the MCAT. I don't share that information with that many people.

Considering people partake in coital interactions much more than MCAT interactions, and with such stigma and controvery surrounding many areas of sexual relations, asking about your MCAT score pales in comparison to the rudeness of asking about one's sexual history.

Take a step back from Freud. It's not a rude question, and it IS just a test. You can take it again. Med school, the USMLE, your residency, and career are going to be a LOT harder and you will put in a LOT more time and $$ for that - are you going to get pissy when people ask you about how your grades are or how your practice is doing?

Relax, man (or woman). No one's forcing you to put $1500 down for the test. You can study how you want to, but generally, people want to know how the competition fared. I'm sure you'll be asking others about their MCAT day.
Well meg beat me to it - and said it a bit calmer than I could.

Wow, it seems that I have unknowingly traipsed into an estrogen minefield. Need back up! Back up! :scared:

Anyway, before you gals reach for the torches and pitchforks, I would suggest that you read back the thread to see that all I am trying to say is that soliciting someone for the MCAT score can be risky, as many people have very strong feelings attached to the test.

Oh no - I knew what you were trying to say. And I've read the whole thread.

I just really didn't like your implication that we were less dedicated to medicine. That's a cheap shot and one of my SDN pet peeves (ie. "I disagree with you so you obviously don't deserve to be a doctor/will be a horrible doctor")

I was absolutely not intending to imply this.

For some reason, I thought that the scores will be released on June 7. Now, I'm looking back on where I got this information 😕 . I don't know whom, where and how I got this information but I feel very stupid considering I have told my parents and friends that this day will be the day I'd be making a decision on which med school to attend. THE ACTUAL DATE IS JUNE 22, WHICH IS 60 DAYS FROM APRIL 22 😡 Much longer than I was anticipating.

As the post leader I DEMAND peace!

The MCAT is very different for everyone. For people like me its an obstacle that has held me back for the past few year. For others it is completely different. IT could be a test, a personal experience, just a random Saturday, or the sole determination of your fate, however you look at it.

Everyone views the the MCAT, med school apps, medical school philosophy, etc in different proportions. Hence, we all will have different reactions. From reading all the posts, I really don't think anyone was trying to take cheap shots at anyone, I believe they are just stating their justified opinion on the matter.

I hope we all can be friends, because we will all hopefully be colleagues in the near future. Good luck everyone :luck:

We do not know if its June 7th or 22nd. All we know its between. Scores have been released earlier in the past. Just tell your friends and family to expect scores from the 7th to 22nd. Good luck!

Woah. Reading some of the latest posts here. I dare not say anything even slightly offensive in here right now as that would be about the same as playing Minesweeper with a goddamn blindfold on.

But just a heads up before these scores come out: The scores I post in here will likely have a margin of error of +1/-1 for each section, just in case med school admissions places come in here and read through our threads

But I promise to keep my total score within a +1/-1 margin of error too

Nah it will most likely be the second full week of June as in 12th-16th. that's when its come out the past couple of years.

It will be soon. Just stay positive.

I totally agree, and I should have made this stipulation earlier... I don't mind at all if anyone asks what my score is......as long as they aren't a pre-med, because I hate almost every pre-med I know here at my school...they are all a bunch of intense, comptetative turds. I HATE YOU ALL PRE-MEDS!

make sure you let the adcoms know this during your interviews 😉

a lot of people in my family will ask about my mcat score but they have no idea what the scale is or what a good score is--they are just asking b/c they are they are excited for me. if some freakin' gunner asks me--I just tell them I did fairly well and leave it at that. and then they immediately tell me what they got and get mad when i don't jump up and down and shower them with praise.

This time I scored a 10 on the verbal section in my dreams. It's amazing how my score shot up 5 points in a matter of 24 hours. 😳

im gonna puke... :barf: i think i need to stay away until scores come out... and work on my personal statement... err.. or rather START it. 😳

I dreamt I got a 38. I was in class and just starred at my desk in disbelief on the edge of tears for about 10 minutes.

Did you happen to check the Student Name on the score report? Maybe it was my April '06 score report, perhaps, accidentally sent to you?

I have no idea what I'll do if my score isn't up to par. I'm SO booked for the rest of this summer, but I have no desire to take a CBT. The rest of my app is pretty strong, which presents the problem of deciding between:

a) Do i want my MCAT to weigh down an otherwise good app?
or
b) Let everything else speak for itself and apply anyway?

Here's to hoping it's not an issue...

After the test, I felt HORRIBLE. I had to rush through the last 3 or more sections of every section. However, I have heard from other people that they guessed on many questions and still managed a 10 on that section, for example. At least I didn't have to blindly guess, even though I rushed through the questions.
Now that I have kind of forgotten how horrible that test was, I feel better, though sometimes panic kicks in and I fear I'll get a 20 on the stupid test.
I DO NOT WANT TO RETAKE. I can't study at home, I just can't. I can't even work on my apps when I'm at home, I have a thing about being left ALONE when I work. Having people around me distracts me badly. I've tried to work around it, but I can't.
So, hopefully, score will be decent.

let me tell ya something--you can guess a whole buttload of questions and still get a 10--it's true!! 🙂 I can't study at home either--I go to the library and find a place where i can be isolated

I was able to finish all the sections, except verbal (was 5 questions shy). But am in the same boat, I cant study at home, and definitely DO NOT WANT TO RETAKE. We will know soon enough. I hope the thing about getting a 10 with guessing is true, would really help me out ( even though it makes the test a even bigger crapshoot 🙂)

Thanks for the tip, although I can't exactly leave my house. Both my parents work, have unpredictable schedules, I don't have a car, and I can't leave my little brother alone in the house. 🙄 Besides, I am not sure the library would work for me, too quiet, and full of other people (as you see, I'm picky about places to study...very picky...reminds me of that episode of Gilmore Girls when Rory can't find a place to study and she is running all over the place and can't find it...I'm just like that).

I suck sometimes. 😍

I Have a quick question, where can we go to view our mcat scores when they're released? I know that it's prollie mentioned somewhere, but after going to a few pages of comments n replies, i thought it'd be faster to just ask =) Thanks you guys!

mcat thx givin no love though, no update whatsoever 🙁

grats on 1000

I am hoping for a THx update later today since it was the first day to turn in apps...

BTW--I didn't turn mine in...waiting on April Scores 😱

So it doesn’t look like scores will come out this week, which means they’ll most likely be released around finals time for me…

In that case I probably shouldn’t check my score until after finals or else I might be so disappointed that I can’t study and do horrible on my exams.

Anyone else feel like their future hinges on this one number?
That’s not necessarily true but still…

Just repeating the prediction table. Add your name to the list!

What's your vote on the date that the April 2006 MCAT scores will be released? (date includes all times between 12:00am midnight/morning to 11:59:59pm EDT)

When scores are finally released (i'm guessing next week), do they show up first on the THx site linked through the MCAT page, or under the Standardized Testing section of the AMCAS application site. Or both at the same time? THx just has the "August scores have been released ..." message. AMCAS just says "Scores not yet loaded". No other updates as you all probably already know.

Lilah, there isn't going to be a notice a week before the scores are released. From what I understand, there's going to be a notice saying something like "scores will be released tonight" on the day of the score release.

I finally had my first specific MCAT dream last night. I dreamt I got a 34, so you'd think I'd be happy... However, my score breakdown was verbal: 15, bio: 15, phys sciences: 4 😱 Yikes! What do you do with a score like that?!?!

Adding to the 15th since that's the latest date I've heard from AAMC.

How do you know scores won't be released this week?

Or are you just speculating?

I only ask because you say it like its a fact.

I think someone who has taken it before said that THx updates first and then AMCAS a day or two later.

best wishes to all! I am terrified, and have yet to finish my apps or personal statement! I e-mailed all my profs who wrote me letters last year to update them and e-mail them to my advisor. I hope this gets done soon so that I can sign up for an hpac date.
😱 :luck: :luck: :luck:

Well today is the 5th which means that if TPR were right it would be out on the 7th. However, realistically it looks like the 10 day countdown is on. Good luck!!!!!!!!

I thought I'd share this and hopefully make everyone laugh:

I had a MCAT-related dream. I dreamed I was fed up with waiting on my score. So I decided to go to the pawn shop and just buy a used MCAT score.

My dad shot coffee out of his nose when I told him that dream.

I just called AAMC. The woman said scores would be released the middle of this week and then she corrected herself and said the middle of this month, (June 12-15th). Make of it what you will...

Did she correct herself immediately, or after you asked her to repeat?

And did she give those dates or is that what you assumed she meant by "middle of this month". And sorry for the over-analysis of this... I think we're all just anxious here...
