In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

Ok, let the fun begin.........

59 days and counting........

Lets pray for all of you and for my very best roommate, and two of my other bestest friends. 😀 May all come with good news in the following two months.

This is for the neurotic ones who just need somewhere to vent their frustration over the wait. 😛

lol people do worse than that... have you looked at last years bell curves of scores? people got 6's...makes me that much more worried

OK, that terrifies me. Not even a hug from my puppies could ease the pain of that. Oh, I really hope and pray that the "discrepancies" did not jack up, or jack-down for that matter---my scores. I don't trust anyone but myself. I hope they have a honcho for accuracy up there in D.C. or Iowa. Some drunk farmer plowing his fields evaluates our mcat scores and decides if we deserve the higher or the lower score---a 14 or a 35. NO!!!!!!!!!! Nightmare! 😱

Okay, question for everyone...

How are you going to view your scores?

1. Wait for them to come in the mail.
2. Have a friend/loved one to check and break the news to me
3. Just quickly check them online like ripping off a bandage.
4. Put a piece of paper over the screen and slowly pull it down

I vote for number 3. Feel free to add your own method of checking scores! 😀
I did number 3 the last time. I might actually go with number 2 this time...only once I know they are actually posted (and I'm counting on you guys to let me know by posting it here on SDN).

do you mean beer? i think i read that article too...but they said it would take 17 beers or so to see the benefits lol

Seventeen beers over what period of time? Any college guy worth his salt can easily tank 20 beers in a weekend. If a couple cups of coffee offsets that ..... sweeeeeet.

the only thing is to work as a latte maker you have to have like 15 bizarre piercings and minimum 3 tatoos
 how about some black eye-liner covering your whole eye-lid to go with those fantastic piercings, and a goth b-friend/g-friend chilling all day waiting for you to get off work...........

When I took the MCAT in 1992 and 1994, we didn't have the option but to only receive the scores by mail. I ripped it open so fast, and wasn't exacty happy with what I saw. I'm hoping to be pleasantly suprised this time around. I switch between three daydreams: elation that I got a 36, satisfaction that I got at least 10 in every section to get a 30 or 31, or depressed I got under 30.

when i'm on a roll, I just can't stop. It's the power of the grande, non-fat latte...hehe. i have a paper I am working on and I keep shifting from that to sdn. Sdn has been receiving more attention....the paper for that matter is only 1 page complete thus far. 👍 👎

Double digits for everything baby. Thats all that I ask.

it is, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Laughter is the best medicine for a fearful mcater awaiting his or her crapdoola scores. j/k, I meant
wonderful scores.

lol i think my most recent obsession with sdn is because of my anxiety

this and spider solitaire has gotten all of my attention even though i desperately need to finish my personal statement

Question for somebody who's in the 30-35ish range (practice tests): what will you do if you get 30 or above, but one of the sections is below 10 (like 11, 11, 8, or something like that)?

Likely to hit 5K in the next hour at this rate

on my last practice test i had 13 ps/7 vr/12 bs...im just hoping my vr was 8 or higher and hoping the other two stayed put

after the test though i thought vr was my strongest section...these scores are gonna hit like a mack truck cuz i have no idea what to expect

I will get into medical school. An 8 in one section will not kill, however, a 6 or 7 might. :luck:

I will submit my app and take my chances. 11, 11, 8 is unbalanced of course, but it is not horrible.

I'll be content with a 9 in verbal, but everything else (for my particular situation, 3.3 gpa, 4.0 postbacc) must be in the double-digits to make at least a 33 total score for me to be happy and think that I have a chance to get into a US MD program. If I get a 9 in PS/BS or lower than a 9 on anything, I'll retake next year on computer.

Lower than a 28 and I will re-take, also with anything below 9. Damn, that would suck, I don't want to go through this again.

Yeah, this is my third time taking the real MCAT. But, if I have to, I'll do it again if it's necessary to become a physician. Med School or Bust! 😀

taylormade44 said:
anyone check mcat thx lately? lol
Let's see...
1. Checked THx
2. Checked the MCAT scores page on AMCAS just in case they show up there first
3. Checked the MCAT main page for news updates
4. Checked the Examinee Data pages for any signs of updates
5. Checked the anticipated filenames of the examinee data pdf files in case they have been uploaded

Neurotic? 😀

dunno, I guess it would but it hasn't happened yet. It went off once last evening when it somehow got an update that I didn't have scores then the page refreshed to show my old scores again. Wierd.

You guys aren't going to get total scores of 6, so you don't need to worry about that. It's statistically just as difficult to accomplish that as it is to score 40+! Contrary to what it seems like on SDN sometimes, most people who take the MCAT score between 20-30. (About 60% of test-takers fall into that range.) As soon as you start looking at scores below 20 or above 30, the number of people achieving them drops off dramatically. Since SDN is the home of a lot of particularly bright, motivated people, our population actually skews toward the higher side, which is why we have a good number of people around here who scored above a 30, and even a handful of people with 40+.

If you want to take a look at the stats from last year, you can see them on the AAMC website: http://www.aamc.org/students/mcat/examineedata/combined05.pdf Tally up the percents, and you'll see that about 60% of the scores do indeed fall into the 20-30 score range.

You have no scores yet.

And my mental answer to "What would you like to do?" just keeps getting more and more creatively violent. 😀

Do you guys ever look at your MSAR and wonder: who is the person who got into Johns Hopkins with a PS 5? Did he get a combined score of 35 and cure cancer as an EC or what?

Not dishing on him -- it's good that they look at the "whole person" -- but the non-PS fraction of that whole person must have been something to talk about... :wow:

Might be somebody classified as URM, or maybe they donated $5million or know somebody on the adcom.

OMG, did this thread explooooooooooooooooode or what???
LifetimeDoc, you are a brave man for putting that alarm on... I would have gone nuts if I heard it... 🙂

I know. Bejeebus people. I've been gone about 2 hours!!

To the person asking about PS length - I think your post got lost in there somewhere:
The TMDSAS and AMCAS are like 400 character apart which isn't big but the formating is going to bite you in the ass (at least it did to me).

I think that's short but if you're really happy and comfortable with it, who am I to say? Go for it.

it was me....I said the scores would be released by post 3219. I was sooooo wrong

I've had 2 MCAT dreams this week. In one I got a 12/12/13 and in the other I was responsible for calculating my own score but I couldn't find an answer key
