***Official April 2006 Score Release Countdown Thread***

In the continuing spirit of the tradition started last year, we will hold this as your official countdown til score release thread. You can use this as a countdown, but may also post in here general conversation if you are just going insane over this wait. Also, this may not be an exact of when the scores will come out, but we don't know how many days before the official 60 days are over they will come out. Last year, they came out around June 15th at 10pm. But this will give us a rough approximation.

Ok, let the fun begin.........

Lets pray for all of you and for my very best roommate, and two of my other bestest friends. 😀 May all come with good news in the following two months.

This is for the neurotic ones who just need somewhere to vent their frustration over the wait. 😛

I'm surprised that nobody that nobody has done a fake thing claiming that the MCAT scores were posted. Maybe people think they would be murdered by somebody from the forum if they did that?

i read somewhere that they wanted to avoid A-F at all costs because theyre associated with grades

I think the J-T scoring system was derived at an 8 AM meeting when no one gave a crap. They probably said no numbers or no A-F, so some bright intern said, hey J-T....and that was the end of the meeting.

I thought about it, really. I thought, I should just finish my application, take a breather, then worry about the scores.

But then my advisor sent out an email last week saying they'd be here June 20. And I've been freaking out ever since.

Sadly, I don't think there's any chance at all of my finishing my last two essays (the MD/PhD ones) before whenever the scores come out. At this point, I feel like it's futile to even work on them, because there's a strong chance I won't have a decent enough MCAT to even apply dual degree.

Meh. I want my scores.

wow. so ive been gone for a bit. actually had to do some work...at work. don't know what's been said since then, but i just read this one, and i feel exactly the same way. i can't decide whether i should take a year off to work in a lab and take it again later if my score isnt high enough, or if i should just go med instead of mstp.

and then i just keep hoping. but damn, i hate disappointment. this could be bad.

Has anybody called AAMC/AMCAS to ask about when scores will be released? I know a few people called the mcat office today, but the Iowa office has nothing to do with the score release (they told me before). I'm abroad now, so I can't call. Hope somebody gets a solid answer.

I know some people said they called the MCAT office, but has anyone called the AAMC office in D.C.?

They don't use numbers so that med schools can't add in that number to the rest of your score. That way, the test isn't out of 60. It basically is a way of saying "the writing sample is more subjective, and not as important as the other sections".

I have already said that if I get 30+ I will throw a party and you are all invited. Just don't bring booze because I'm under 21 here. We will get drugged with tons of sugar instead.

It varies by school...some take the most recent, some take your best score from each section, etc.

Or what if a hurricane suddenly formed in the gulf and it tracked all the way up to Iowa? Not only would our scores not come out today, but can you imagine what would happen to the price of corn??? (Now those douhe bags whose cars run on ethanol and laughing at everyone can learn what it is like to pay $3 per galloo)

Or what if right before the scores came out, an asteroid hit the earth?

I felt more confident after the real deal than I did after any of my practice tests. I think that the nerves helped me focus a lot more during the real test, because I knew that it was for real. Who knows though, maybe I'll be kicking myself in the ass tomorrow.

Actually there is a chance of thunderstorms in my neck of the woods (Jersey) today... If I lose power and can't check scores when they come out, I will absolutely go crazy... Running through the streets like a raving lunatic...
