This is the official countdown thread for the August 2006 MCAT score release. Scores are supposed to be released on October 14th.

I was referring to the counting down. I don't care about the WS section. I threw up double J signs to my friend as I was walking out to the bathroom before Bio.

On the subject of the writing section:

I personally could give 2 cents about whether or not I got a high score on writing because I know most US med schools don't give two cents about that section especially non ranked schools.

On the subject of counting down:

Williams1 you are a lot stronger person then me by putting it completely out of your mind. However I think most of us are really more anxious about the scores then we were about taking the test. i think the countdown towards score release is more significant for most because the anxiety and unsure feelings start to surface only after you've taken it because you are scared that you didn't do so well and don't know for 2 months. I'm sure if someone did a practice test and waited one day vs. another person doing a practice test and waiting a week to find out scores because for some reason they were not able to find out scores within a day, the person with the 1 week wait would be more anxious then the person who had to wait 1 day.


That same concept applies to having to wait 2 months vs. grading a test right away after taking it. This is why it is so frustrating. Furthermore, its frustrating because they don't show raw scores or tell you what you missed.

Guju, I don't know if you'd believe this, but I'd actually grade my practice tests WHILE I was taking them, ahahhahah!!! Talk about impatient. Towards the end of my practice tests (8 in total), I frankly got sick of them. I didn't care as much as I did before to what I'd get. I'm still interested in my MCAT score, but definitely not as much as I was with my very first practice test. 🙂

Hahaha...I used to grade them as I went along too..well until I decided that maybe it would be more benificial to simulate real test taking conditions. Even still I would have to force myself not to grade them as I went along.

Can someone explain this helicopter to me, please?? Everyone tells me it's so funny but I don't get it, so they make fun of me and tell me I don't have a sense of humor. I don't get it!!

Yeah I also only practiced the writing sample a total of one times.

Believe it or not, I know a few people who grade the MCAT essays (I am from Iowa City, after all). One told me that they spend about 45sec on each essay. I'm not sure that's enough time to laugh.

Oh yeah, another different grader told me that she is automatically more harsh on those with messy handwriting because of subconscious bias. Because of this, I printed an essay for the first time since 1st grade (I normally write an extremely sloppy cursive).

You really do have to wonder just WHAT AAMC is up to with those tests. Sure, it takes a team of monkeys a couple of weeks to read 60,000 essays. But isn't the scantron just scanning and then creating a scale. Also, how much you want to bet that somebody wrote some code YEARS AGO that is still being used to scale the tests.

I really, honestly wonder what they are up to this whole time.... 😕

quick question, how do you activate aamc's THx for a second time tester? cause i had to register with a different username the second time i took the test, but i don't remember what it was, and when i fill out the registration form, it gives me my first username.

well... it gives you the first username... so you can get the password reset, no?

I don't quite get what's going on, but I have a feeling you'll be calling up the AAMC office in the near future...

I called up the AAMC office today so see if my transcript has been scanned, they said no. It's been almost a week. She said that it shouldn't be a problem because I'm already ready for review. 😡 Yea, well, they can't review it if they can't view my f'n transcript! They can see my other one just fine. Dude, AAMC pisses me off. Good luck solving anything through them.

Btw, the only good is that they answer the phone quickly, within 2 minutes. Although once I hear the voice recording, I press 7.

i have nothing to do every weekend except the weekend of october 13th where i have to leave urbana and make it to chicago by noon for some stupid career fair, which will take all day and i probably won't even make it back until late. I think this is either a sign that i shouldn't check or fates idea of a cruel joke.

Oh, so scores are released 2 months (8 weeks) after the test date... I thought I read somewhere here that they were going to take a week off this time, but I guess not.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to let people here know what I got regardless of my score, but I'm probably going to spend the first few minutes after getting my score by myself/with whoever is around me at the time. It's kinda scary thinking about it though!

lol. Maybe I'll post it in the Practice Test thread to give people an idea of how accurate those things can reflect. Of course that is if I don't feel embarrassed with my score. 😉

what do you do if you had really bad proctors? mine kept whispering, loudly, bc they didnt know what the hell they should be doing. it was very very disturbing, esp in the VR section, and i realized during lunch that the entire classroom was pissed off...you could hear them all the way in the back. can't i complain or something, bc it really threw me off and i didn't really have time to shut them up. ughhh 😡

you can complain to AAMC and I definitely recommend it. I think that your complaint must be sent in within 2 or 3 weeks after the test date though, so I'd check up on that ASAP. check AAMC's website.

I was first going to say that the show Lost could be just a dream one perosn is having, but then I remembered the producers said it's supposed to be actually happening (it's nothing like a dream or purgatory).

His mom broke her ankle, house caught on fire, arrested by the cops, airplane crash, LOL!
