I was in a bad mood and was venting after getting off the phone... I cheered up a bit later and thought hmmm... maybe I don't want that up there for the next 20 years...

That and I happened apon a post by someone bitching that she became an alternate at UCI a couple years back instead of receiving an immediate accept. 2 months later, she was in. I thought "hmmm way to put your foot in your mouth... Maybe I should rethink my post from today..." 😉
 
Ok, today was a good day 🙂
I get alot of enjoyment from swingdancing / lindyhop. (spend way too much time)
Anyway, I ended up posting to a cleveland swing dance board and tried to see what I could about the scene there... And it looks pretty good. The only hard part is that I'll have to learn to Bal, and find time to study too... Hmmm.... Bal might just take presidence over the studying part. I even learned that some current Case medschoolers are supposidly in the scene a bit too.
 
hey Judd - about that 8% Case loan. It is a high interest rate, but i remember the fin aid lady's saying something about how it's special--maybe doesn't start accruing interest until graduation. something like that, where it ends up that you get a decent interest rate in the big picture.

thats what i remember, i think. i didnt get my finaid yet. reddly did you?
 
finaid packets were not all sent out last week. some were also sent out today, others will be mailed tomorrow. it sounded like those will be the last of them, but i'm not positive

Ok,

so if the Case loans don't start to accrue interest until graduation and they are at 8%, then I guess they are about half way between a federal subsidized loan and a federal unsub loan. Not too bad as long as the numbers work out.

what is THE?
 
stands for Total Higher Education...it's one of the loan groups Case suggests for private loans, the other being the Access Group (I have to take out a private loan because I didn't qualify for enough Case grant/loan) BTW...it only took them 24 hours to preapprove me, in reference to my question above...
 
Case loans does not have a fee. Also I think that Case loans doesn't accumulate interest until you are finished with residency, not just graduation.

sorry to just come in like this but i really need advise or at least some opinion on my matter , check this out :

i'm a kuwaiti citizen that should and will finish highschool next june , i did apply to a ton of schools ( in the US) but for a major in business.

though i hated business i had no word against it ( both parents have a PHd in business ) so in the end i got accepted to case western reserve university .
on a full scholarship with a monthly pay of 2500$ a month plus every thing i want !!!!! 🙄 from the kuwaiti gov.

But my love for medical school has always been out ! so after i lead a campaign for me to go to medical school ... i got a my parents to stand behind me on where ever i wanted to go 😎 but the kuwaiti gov. does not give scholarships for those that want medicine in the states ,,, they only do that for whom want to go to either britain or ireland .

but after i lead another campain against alot of people i got these options :

a) i go to medical school some where in ireland ( 5-7 years )
b) i go to medical in london ( 6-7 years )
c) i go for a double major in business and premed at case then take the MCAT and then i MIGHT get in a medical school
d) i forget about medical school and go to case for business
Ahhhhhh ,,,, i have to choose 😕 i'd rather read a million pages of latin letreture !

note that in the UK and IRELAND med. schools are 1 year foundation year then premed ( 1 year ) then the true medical school

help ....... 😱
 
Friends, what kind of grades and MCAT scores do you need to have to get into Case Western. Also, do you need to do research? I will be an out of state applicant for this school

The avg for the entering 2003 class was 3.64 and about a 32 MCAT

There is great variability though. They seem to take non-trads, and they are moving towards admitting more out of staters, so thats good for you! good luck. Why your special interest in CWRU?
 
so once may 15th passes, do you suppose Case will start sending us the real goodies?

I am KY resident and wish to be as close to Cincinnati as possible. But then this is sort of foolish- you can always take a flight! Case Western looks like a great school with awesome facilities and I think my GPA and MCAT score(hopefully, took it in April) will be good enough for this school.
BTW I read your profile, I am a US resident of Indian origin. I guess I can call myself an Asian American, always feels good to talk to other Asian Americans 😉

Yeah that's true, But I feel Case Western's way better than UCin. May be I want to get away from Cincinnati :scared:

I already got TWO finaid letters...when i got the first, I called to ask for more money (stafford money). got the updated letter a few days later.

I got my fin aid letter. Two questions:

1) How negotiable is Case with the grant and Case loan amounts? If you have a competing acceptance, is Case willing to budge on their numbers?

2) Does anyone have an opinion as to whether going through Case for Stafford loans is the best option? To me, Case seems to offer a pretty good deal because they pay the 3% origination fee for you. Do people have a lender that they prefer over Case and if so why?
 
Hey! I'll go to case! Just so you know, I'm a female, and that's for the "ratio-concerned" people out here. I haven't received ANY stuff from Case yet! and wonder when all the goodies will be sent out? I REALLY want to know the kind of laptop we're getting! 😎

Thanks! This model seems to be pretty good, esp. with the built-in wireless stuff, maybe a little bulky though. Can't wait to replace my old noisy lap now! 🙂

Me either. When did you send in your financial stuff? I sent mine in around 4/15, pretty late I guess?
 
I sent mine at around the same time period.... dang it... hopefully they haven't run out of money yet... = (

Don't worry! It's still pretty early for financial! At least all the fed. loans will always be there.

Strike that...the person on the CCLCM thread wrote D600, which is a Latitude.
 
Hey y'all..

I'm starting to think about housing issues as well. Right now, I'm leaning towards Waldorf, and while I wouldn't mind living alone, roommates would be cheaper (and as someone who just got the proverbial screw job in terms of financial aid, cheaper is GOOD), and I like having other people around. If anyone's interested in talking about linking up in an apartment, shoot a PM my way.
