Hi everyone.

I think I was the first one to break the news that COMP is already sending out interview invites. What else am I supposed to put? I'm new at this.

Why not just an **Official Class of 2009 Interviews** thread? So as not to exclude other schools...So Edit the thread title by removing COMP and then follow the list...

set it up with schools by alpha order...and then place the date of your scheduled interview in parentheses after your name.

Congrats on getting invite. I'm just curious though when you filed their secondary. Their web says they invite people to complete secondary if you meet their criteria. My apps were sent the same day yours went out, but I never heard anything from anyone.

As I understand it, last year COMP started a policy where they would invite applicants for interviews who did not fill out the secondary yet. However, they had to fill it out and turn it in before COMP reviewed their file to decide for acceptance or waitlist so it was still a necessary part.

Also, to give you COMP applicants an idea, I remember last year I turned in my primary AACOMAS on July 12. By this time no one had interviews to any school. I remember getting my secondary from COMP by early August. The first notifications for interview for COMP came around early September and I didn't get a notification to interview until late September. The first interviews at COMP started on Oct 3 and I interviewed in mid October.

Thus, I am surprised they started really early this year because at this point in time in the process, I hadn't even sent my primary yet and COMP was one of my top choices.

I totally agree with Sense. For the class of 2008, the first day of interviews at COMP was Oct. 2. This year's first interview day is sooooo early!!!! The class of 2008 hasn't even started class yet!

1. I only have 1 science - LOR. Is this ok, or are they really strict about having 2? I have all my letter already and don't know where to get the second one.

I don't know the answers to your questions, but does your school have a LOR service? I think on one of the instuction packets, they specified what kinds of LOR's they will accept.

If the directions say two, then you must have two. There is no getting around this.

The letter that I received did not mention anything about an invitation for an interview. I would not find this odd, except that it seems as if everyone else is getting interview invites @ the same time. I wonder that since I got a different letter if this means that i am going to be promptly denied upon submitting the secondary. Any inisght????

It seems like they're inviting people who haven't even taken the MCAT... I don't think they're gonna automatically reject you post-secondary but I would work a little harder if your application is missing something (but then again, what more important than an MCAT score that the above interviewee is missing...). 😕

I think the reason you received an interview without the MCAT is because you're from the northwest. They need to fill 30 spots for students in the northwest track and they had trouble filling these spots this past application cycle.

Thus, it appears they are actively recruiting people who appear interested in this program.

I wouldn't worry about not getting an interview yet and it doesn't mean you've been rejected. That is how they normally did it this past cycle. They sent an email saying to fill out the secondary without mention of an interview. Just fill it out, send it in, and you probably will hear later about an interview.

Yes, I am certain that is why too. The interview invitation was sent by a NW track representative whom I had contacted via email. She never wrote back, but must have made note. Otherwise, my application doesn't stand out from anyone elses (obviously, I haven't even taken the MCAT).

i got a secondary from COMP as well. i posted yesterday about it because i too was concerned about not getting an interview along with the secondary cause it seems as if everyone else was getting one! if its a regional thing then it makes sense since i'm from chicago.

i guess that northwest track thing does explain it a bit.

Interview date: They'll probably call Monday or Tuesday, but I will wait until October to interview b/c it's such a long trip for me and I have mandatory attendance for a course from September to mid-October.

Plus, I heard (and this may be wrong) that deposits are due not long after an acceptance, so if I get lucky at COMP, I don't want to drop 2K before getting the chance to hear from other schools.

yeah i know how you feel too, the davis secondary is relaly really hard. list any qualities that will make a doctor. every single one of them.

i think they want people to do the tour, info sessions, lunch (talking with the students) before the interview. ive done the tour of the campus before, when i was tagging along with my cousin and his gf. they had the dissection room open so we were walking around the cadavers. really eery but cool! anyways, see ya there! ill be the dood with the oversized suit and black tie.

For those of you completing the COMP secondary, per Gloria in admissions, for the admissions ID# you can leave that blank as long as your SS# is present. They will fill in this number upon reciept of your application.
