**Official Interview/Acceptance/Rejection Thread 2013-2014**

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey all, I've updated several times in this thread already. Here's the last one. Offered a seat at LECOM this morning! After all the waiting, I was starting to think, with my atrocious GPA, that it just wasn't meant to be. My stats copied and pasted below.

AADSAS mail-out date: 09/09/13
GPA (science, overall, post-bac): 3.2, 2.9, 3.9
DAT (AA/TS/PAT/Reading/any section below a 17): 23/22/21/25/none

I was advised to apply to as many schools as I could. The rejections are many. My mail-out was also a bit late. Combining that with my 2.5 undergrad GPA probably eliminated me from contention in the first wave. But I'm hoping that my non-traditional path plus my record since then will catch the eye of committees during the second pass. I only got one pre-Dec interview (Rutgers). NYU was in Dec. All the rest were Jan and later.

Waitlisted:
Rutgers, NYU, UDM, USC, UNLV, LECOM, Roseman

Rejections (some were complete long shots):
Laundry list of 30 something schools.
Similar story for me, UG oGPA 2.23, Post Bacc 4.0+, 22/23/22 and accepted to LECOM on 4/3, still waitlisted at NYU and Buff, but rejected from the other 26 schools. I was getting ready to reapply thank god I got one. I'm from NY so NYU or Buff would be nice but hopefully we both hear from other choices so we can have some choices.

Nice to read stories of others who managed to turn it around. So relieved that I won't have to re-apply this cycle. And yeah, if I end up getting offered at any of my other WL schools, I'll have to think long and hard. Right now, all I know is that 1 is a whole lot better than 0 :).

Definitely am relieved that I don't have to reapply, phew! To play this waiting game another year, plus I'm not getting any younger.

Haha, or we might just be classmates

My 2013/2014 Application Cycle Roundup:

Ca resident. final decision: WesternU

December Acceptances: WesternU, Lecom, & NYU
January+ interview invites that I didn't go to*: Temple, Indiana, Louisville, UNLV, & Roseman
Rejections w/no interview: Columbia, UMDNJ, USC, Connecticut, UCSF, UoP, ATSU
No word yet other than 'application received': UCLA
Got the "competitive applicant" email and then nothing since: OHSU

*applied broadly but hoped for a local school. Dec 2 acceptance to the school just 20 miles from my house that I own made traveling to the other interviews unnecessary...Temple tempted me, but I'm still happy with the decision

AADSAS completion: 6/30/2013 (3rd batch?)
AADSAS GPA (science, overall): 3.6, 3.6
DAT #1 (AA/TS/PAT/Reading/any section below a 17): 19/17/21/23/yes-Ochem self taught
DAT# 2 (after I actually took 1st Ochem) : 19/19/22/20/No
BA Psychology/Anthropology in 2003. Self directed postbac for missing pre-reqs at city college in 2013.
Reapplicant - Stupidly applied in December of the 2012/2013 cycle.

Just received my second acceptance last week from OHSU! After a long pros/cons discussion I've decided on OHSU over Temple. I'll be relinquishing my spot at Temple tomorrow. Good luck to anyone on Temple's wait list!

Rejections: UMich, UWashington, UCSF, Colorado, Marquette, Ohio State, Case, Kentucky. No interviews.
Interviews: Temple, OHSU
Accepted: Temple, OHSU

Residency: Oregon
Application complete date: 6/10
AADSAS mail-out date: 7/19 (my committee took their time sending out evaluations)
GPA (science, overall): sGPA: 3.56, oGPA: 3.6, post-bacc 3.9 (with a Nursing school grading scale, 75% = F)
DAT (AA/TS/PAT/Reading/any section below a 17): 19/19/22/23/none

Second acceptance in a week! Hard to turn down such an amazing school however I declined an OOS waitlist acceptance from VCU. Very tough decision however finances were not favorable. Good luck to everyone on the wait list.

Received an interview offer from Temple for waitlist.
I won't be going so if anyone's still waiting to hear from Temple, you might hear from them soon.

Also received offer from temple to interview for waitlist.

It's been a long time coming but finally got the call today! Got off the waitlist for Tennessee!

Accepted at NYU and Pittsburgh and Waitlisted at UCSF. Pending Minnesota.
I don't know which school to put a deposit at. NYU is next week for $1500 and Pittsburgh $1000 by March 3.

I'm being optimistic and hoping I get off the waitlist at UCSF.

Which school would be better in terms of specializing? I already know Pittsburgh is almost 110-120K cheaper over the 4 years.

Well, with your stats, the rejection was more than expected.

Onward to bigger and better things! Gotta love that, though. ;)

why is it so hard to get into UMB (UMaryland School of Dentistry)?!?!?!?!
I'm assuming that it's a good school, has a good name (they're the first dental school in the states), and the proximity to a lot of people in the east coast makes it somewhat more affordable (I think they have a new england tuition rate that's more subsidized than out of state rates).

July update: Also ended up with offers at Detroit Mercy, UNLV, and NYU. Loved UDM, but chose UNLV due to price and proximity from home.

My 0GPA from undergrad was 2.2, and 2 year post bac was 3.85, together 2.8...
Do you think I have a chance..? DAT nothing was under 17, it was 21/22/21/20

Id say you look pretty good for this cycle. Looks like you've pulled your **** together.
