Interview #4!

School: LECOM
Notification date: 9/8/14

Residency: NJ
AADSAS mail-out date: 7/18/14
Application complete date: 7/20/14

Do you guys think it would be a bad idea to schedule my LECOM interview the day before I interview at NOVA? I've scheduled my NOVA interview for 11/21/2014 and LECOM has a date open on the 20th. I don't know if it would be a good or bad idea to schedule my interview the day before as I'd have to take a flight from Tampa to Fort Lauderdale, would that be exhausting? There is another date available on the 18th but I don't want to be spending so much on a hotel room alone for 2 days. What do you guys think?

hey, i live in south florida and if i were you i would just drive. its only about a 2.5hr drive and its really not that bad. ive driven to lecom from where i live in 2 hours and im about 15min from nova. its not really worth going back to tampa and checking in to fly etc, it would probably be less stressful and faster.

+1 makes a lot more sense to do this.

I live in south Florida as well. However, I'm gonna have to disagree with you about the driving part as being less stressful. Driving on I-95 is not gonna be fun especially for someone who doesn't know how crazy our drivers are.

that makes no sense, why would they be driving on 95? from bradenton you just take 75 south to 595 and that drops you right on university where nova is located. you dont even hit 95 on less you keep going east towards the beach lol. google maps is your friend!

Congrats brother! I bet that invite made today the best Monday for you ever!

Been following this thread for the past few months and I'm super worried because some of the schools I applied to are sending out interviews, and I haven't heard anything yet!

Here's my info:
Residency: CA
AADSAS mail-out date: 6/27
GPA (science, overall): 3.9, 3.9
DAT (AA/TS/PAT/Reading/any section below a 17): 21/21/22/20/none
Strong LOR's/personal statement, research experience (currently working full time in a lab), volunteer experience in hospital, and shadowing experience. Though, I only have 60 hours of dental shadowing. Is that really going to be super detrimental?

Is there anyone with similar stats in the same boat? I applied to all the CA schools except Loma Linda.

I only applied to the CA schools also (but not until August). I would't sweat it with your stats, I think the CA schools are just slower with giving out interviews (or that is what I keep telling myself...)

I'm really surprised at the so soon interview. Omg any suggestions. Is the close interview a bad sign ?

I interviewed there yesterday. Closed interview just means that your interviewers know nothing about you. They know your name and that's it. So introduce yourself to them and tell them all about yourself and what you like to do. All of the questions are behavioral, instead of situational questions like most schools do, cause they want to gauge who you are as a person based on past experiences. So they'll ask things like "Tell me about a time when you had to apologize." The interviews are super relaxed and they really try to put you at ease. If you have any more questions feel free to message me. Good luck!

I'm kinda similar, just a little bit lower GPA, but I'm from CA. My mail out day was two weeks after yours. I haven't heard from any of the CA schools but not many have started giving out interviews. I do have two OOS interviews tho. Where did you apply OOS?

I didn't apply OOS (for some personal reasons). It was a huge gamble, but I'm trying to relieve myself from the stress of thinking about it since it's still early. I still can't help but worry though!
If I don't get in anywhere this cycle I'll apply OOS next cycle.

I only applied to the CA schools also (but not until August). I would't sweat it with your stats, I think the CA schools are just slower with giving out interviews (or that is what I keep telling myself...)

I'm hoping they still have spots for pre December interviews left at Western and UOP! They gave out interviews pretty early, but it seems that they were later than last year. Gahhh too much waiting!

No. It was a very generic, "Thanks for applying, however we regret to inform you we cannot offer your admission at this time."

Did you get a supplemental? Also, did you check to see if you have all of the requirements? I feel like you're a good applicant, don't worry you'll have other interviews 🙂
