**Official interview invite/ rejection/ acceptance thread: 2010-2011 cycle**

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
how would applying to 23 schools hinder his chances of getting an interview..?

Some schools might see it as a red flag? or pass on the applicant because they don't think they are really interested in their school. Just a thought.

i didn't know that schools are able to see how many schools an applicant applies to.

if I knew this while i was applying, I would've applied to one at a time (even if it's inefficient)

thanks for the fact

I believe a couple of my secondaries asked. And even if they got an interview, when they are asked saying they applied to 23 is probably going to sound bad. Applying to one at a time would not change the total tally to put down on secondaries.

I am really confused.

According to my phone emails, the time stamps are as follows from University of Michigan:

Invited, Recalled (2 minutes later), Invited (3 minutes later).

According to my GMail time stamps:

Invited, Invited (seconds later), Recalled (~4 minutes later).

How confusing! I guess we'll just wait and see.🙄

:luck::luck::luck:

Same thing happened to me as well with the series of e-mails. Maybe we should call? Anyways, I really hope to see you guys November 5th!

I don't think schools know where you apply..unless they ask you!!

AADSAS told me that schools can find out what other schools you applied to
it doesnt show up right away but they can check
and plus
some schools are affiliated with each other so they know that way too!
make sure you guys dont lie about what schools you applied to cause that would look really bad :S

Interview: UTHSC San Antonio!!! (e-mail)

Baylor College of Dentistry: 10/22 (Friday)

That's some bull.

They really can't do that. It's private information.

its not really private information
i mean they already know all our stats, our background info, family stuff, phone number and address 😛

but regardless
thats what AADSAS said
unless the guy i talked to had no idea what he was talking about.. but it seemed like he knew..
and the point he made about schools being affiliated is also very true

that's not bull and schools can find out where you applied to just like they can find out whether or not you've taken MCAT. However, they won't, because it's awaste of their time. If you are a good candidate, they will accept you, you will not be rejected for applying to a rival school or applying to too many schools.

Tufts invite-first email since their app complete notification.

This is why I think it's wrong...

1) Without AADSAS, we would submit applications individually to schools - so that automatically doesn't give the right for other schools to inquire about one's application at another school. We, as users of AADSAS service, hold them to that standard.

2) It's law that no one can inquire (directly from the university) regarding which classes you are taking at your college/university, or even the grades you have received without receiving the student's approval for access to those records. Heck! Even insurance companies can't get information about what courses you are taking at a university - they get the name of the university from YOU and that gives them the right to inquire about your status at the university you attend (to get a response of either full-time or part-time status).

MCAT, DAT, PCAT, GRE, etc records...I can understand how that information is obtained through Social Security records. However, Social Security records do not show the schools you applied to through AADSAS (or any other application clearinghouse). That information should remain private unless I agree to disclose the information - believe it or not, this is sensitive information that could potentially effect you in the wrong hands..

...but I can't claim this information to be true. I'm just rationalizing it. If schools can fully utilize AADSAS to this extent, then there's probably some loophole that is being exploited, which to me is pointless...and I doubt schools check for this information.

lol i dunno why i typed this...i was actually asked which schools i applied to in an interview, and i went ahead and answered it carefully and honestly...but i still think it's a stupid question to ask. I'm here at the interview - isn't that enough on my end to show the particular school that I'm interested?

University of Minnesota interview!!! My checked was cashed a few days ago. I think I sent it my secondary on September 9th.

And I think schools can't see where you applied to unless you tell them, for now. But at the end of the cycle, they can see how many spots you are holding with deposits.

HOME DEPOT GAURANTEE that schools can see everywhere you have applied through AADSAS. I know this because I have talked to directors of admissions at 2 schools, both of which confirmed that they get this info from AADSAS.

Whether you like it or not, this is part of the deal. They told me that they do take this info into account and they do pay attention to it. Both directors said that it's not a huge factor, but it definitely tells them information about you and where you're targeting.

What rights do you have? You are applying through a central application center. Do you really think the onlt reason these schools use this, so that everyones application is uniform? They get information from AADSAS they would not otherwise get!

I just got off the phone with Tufts but forgot to ask what we need to bring... Anyone have this info?

-isnt out target to GET INTO A F|n D'school

-you still have the right to privacy... they cant sell your info or place it in a vulnerable place...

I dont understand what the big deal is. Its not a secret that most people apply broadly to many schools. When you sign up for aadsas all of your information is available to potential dental schools to see. Moreover, I believe on May 1, schools see where you have accepted and sent deposits into. So if you're holding 2 deposits, you might be screwed.

University of Washington denied🙁 first rejection so far, pretty sucky.

Is the Tufts invite through email or phone???

My phones broken right now!!

Anyone hear from UCLA yet?

Also, anyone OOS invited to interview at Columbia, NYU, or Buffalo?

I just got invited to NYU on tuesday for Nov. 1st. However, I applied in early July; got passed up initially, retook the DAT to what it is in my profile last week and that's why I got the interview.

Congrats on the Tufts invites, I'd loveeee to hear from them soon
