Just wondering if anybody has heard anything new about the official letter and class packets? A couple weeks ago they told me they were shooting for the 24th of October. Anybody heard anything different or recieved the packet yet? Thanks

Background checks? Are we supposed to get those soon or is that business after we pay our deposit?

Hey All!!!

Just got accepted yesterday! I'm pretty excited and about 99% sure that I will be at KCOM next year! Just want to do one more campus visit!

So thought I would say hello to my future classmates!

BOO YAH!!! Congrats on the acceptance. If anyone has any questions about kirksville, let me know. Also, look for a KCOM 2012 facebook group.

Looking, not seeing yet 🙂

Hey everyone,

Wanted to say hello and congrats to all those accepted! Anyone here that interviewed on October 8th? Hope everyone enjoys their remaining months of freedom!

hey guys!

congrats! i'm a first year here and kcom is great. i know all of you have tons of questions so don't hesitate to call the school...everyone is so nice there. i remember how i checked the forums for any updated information, and i'll try to answer any questions that i can. i can't promise that i will reply quickly because this week we have finals. anyway...congrats!

Hey all,
Just got the call today that I'm accepted to KCOM. I look forward to meeting you all in August!

congrats on the acceptance!

KCOM here I come!!

I have multiple acceptances, but KCOM is the big winner. I loved the school, and ya know what else, I have never heard a negative thing about the place. No one can fault them for anything (except maybe the small town - if you don't like small towns). I'm sure they are not perfect, no school is, but I get such good feeling about their entire program. I can't wait to start!

It's a small town, but it's got everything that I feel it needs. Chinese food, pizzeria, movie theater... I'm all set!

Now the packet needs to come in the mail so I can officially make it official.

😀 Congrats to all my soon-to-be classmates!!!! 👍 😎

Do they have a Walmart?

I think someone mentioned there was one close by. But I'll have to check again.

Congrats fellow classmates! Kirksville is a good place and KCOM is a great school. Been in the area for a year and a half and the small town feel really grows on you. There is a Wal-Mart, but there are better places to get the things you need. Have a good turkeyday everyone.

Hey again everyone,
I read somewhere that when we get our acceptance we get emailed login information so we can log on to different parts of the KCOM website, like the forum and such. I haven't seen that yet and was wondering if anyone has. I figure I probably won't see it until after the acceptance packet comes in and I send in the deposit, but figured I would check.

Speaking of the packets, anyone get their's or is everyone still waiting?

I am still waiting for my acceptance packet. I emailed Ian (admissions counselor), but he hasn't gotten back to me yet about when the Deadline is for the deposit. I hope we get our packet real soon in the mail...🙄

I was accepted around October 10th and got my packet the first week in November. So it takes them a while.

With regards to the login information, that doesn't come with the first packet. Or at least I didnt' recieve it. The first packet says congrads, sign this form, do a criminal back ground check, and send us money. I'm sure the login information will come after they have your deposit money? Just a guess though. So your assumptions are correct.

Thanks everyone.
Just got my packet today. desijigga, in case you didn't hear yet the deposit deadline is Dec. 14th.

I'm so excited to be part of this group!!!!

What are you guys doing for laptops? I'm considering a tablet PC, anyone have any opinions on them? Recommendations?

It's been pretty quiet over here for a while.

How's everyone doing? Joined the Facebook group yet?

If you are like me, you are busy with finals and just trying to stay motivated to finish undergrad.

BOOOOOOOOOO for undergrad. I'm graduating in December (after 5 1/2 years) and am so tired of the freakin busy work. I can't wait to, first take a break from classes, then get back at it and learn what I need to know and not be bothered with 15 two page research briefs due by the end of the semester........ not that all of my classes are that way, but some are. I can't wait and my wife is also excited for me to learn OMM.

Unfortunately I graduated from undergrad in May. I'm pretty much bored out of my mind right now! I need school back in my life. I'm ready to skip these next eight months of relaxation... I need to be busy again!

Well, there are some things i don't miss about school... researching and writing my thesis for one.

My admissions counselor sent a mass email today (presumably to all of her accepted advisees) with a PDF of the clinical rotations site booklet (136 pgs.). Man, its going to be tough to decide where to request for rotations. I'm sure they are all great but how to decide which is best for me? Hmmmm. Glad that's not a decision I have to make for awhile.

I got this email too. It was so exciting to ready. From my understanding (and please correct me if I am wrong because I really want some understanding here) we pick a state/region not a hospital, correct. How then does the actual hospital site placement work?

I have my top 3 states picked already but am still curious about the hospital placement!

Have those of you that have received the e-mail payed your deposit yet? Someone I know got the e-mail and it had a 'friendly reminder' to pay the deposit soon along with it. I have already payed the deposit, maybe it's used as a reminder...maybe?

I've payed the deposit but haven't seen the email either. Maybe only certain counselors have sent it so far?

I haven't sent the money yet. I got that email a couple of days ago. It has got me really excited. They do a great job explaining how things work at the sites. You guys will get it soon. So are we supposed to pick out our top 3 spots this early in the game or after our 2nd year. I guess I spaced out when they were talking about it.

I think that is all done sometime during 2nd year.

My email was a "we haven't heard if you want to come here, so look at our clinical rotations in detail to help you decide" kind of email.

If you guys want to look at the book (in pdf format) PM me and I'll email it to you. I may just try to email you in the next couple of days i just didn't want to send it if you already have it!

Hi all! I am trying to compare how much independent study time each school offers. Does anyone have a link to KCOM's class schedule? A 8:00-10:00 anatomy, 10:00-12:00 histology, 12:00-1:00 lunch, kind of thing for MS1. I've read the catalog, but I can't find that info anywhere. Thanks a lot!

I have searched for this as well, and haven't found this info either. However, I talked with a student and if I understand correctly it is variable from week to week. Like they may have one or two classes with labs for a week and then nothing for two weeks. I was confused when he told me this, but that's the way that I understood it. If you get info please post it.

Expect classes from 8-5 everyday, with 12-1 as lunch. It starts out pretty uniform: histo, biochem, anatomy lecture, OTM, DOctor, etc. for an hour each, then gets a little less predictable. I only know because my MS degree program at KCOM had us take 1 med course for the first three quarters of the program. I am glad I don't have to retake biochem 1, phys, or neurosci 1! Tee Hee... more time to study anatomy!👍

You are so lucky. Have they decided if the MSers that started this year have to retake the classes for the DO program??

Could you email me that booklet, i was accepted last friday but didn't get the rotation book. it is [email protected]
