Hey guys, I am trying to access site to complete my secondary using the link provided in the email but it shows me the message that the server where this page located isn't responding. Does anyone else get this message and isn't able to access the site for secondary or it's just me?

Idk if this helps anyone or not but I'm OOS and here's what happened with me:

I sent out my AADSAS in mid June but schools didn't review anything until my DAT scores were received 8/4. On 8/8, I get an email saying AADSAS application processed and then on 8/9 I get an email saying they have received my AADSAS application and have carefully reviewed it and want to invite me to continue the admissions process and gave me a link to the supplemental.

I'm assuming they didn't actually review my application in one day and instead looked at my app before my DAT scores came in and then sent me a supplemental once they got the scores.

Similar timeline for me. I'm also OOS and my application received email and supplemental email were a day apart. Perhaps the system is automated.

If I submitted my supplemental in mid July and haven't heard about an interview does that mean I'm probably not getting one? I'm over here wondering if I said something dumb on the secondary...I have higher stats and earlier submission than people posting interviews. My heart is totally set on Maryland 🙁

That's exactly my situation too! 🙁

I got an interview invite last Wednesday. Just confirmed my interview date for October 18. Anyone else interviewing on the same day?

Congrats! When did you submit your supplemental?

anyone heard anything back in past week? Still nada after submitting my supplement in mid July

Sent from my iPhone using SDN mobile

How long has it been since they've last sent out interviews? I've submitted the supplemental and have been under review since 8/17

Maybe I am assuming that DS is more like undergrad than it actually is... but is it really the same education?
Take my state, Georgia, for example. Same degree when you get out...yes. But does DCG really give students the same education as does Columbia, Penn or Harvard?
If so, I'll just go to the cheapest place. I've met current dentists who have graduated from both schools and they are nothing alike. Could just be coincidence but it seems that DCG is often a back up for those who couldn't get in elsewhere. Or so I've heard.

The interview was laid back, student/professors were all really nice, and the school is awesome!

How was the city? Did the students talk about how hard it is to get In-State tuition?

Hello, everyone! Received the secondary this week and submitted today - hopefully a sign of good things to come.

If this has been asked already I apologize in advance, but is it acceptable to leave the "Please explain any academic difficulties you have had." prompt blank? Nothing out of the ordinary apart from the same "well I sucked during my freshman and sophomore years but did better later on" that everyone else has experienced.

My interview is tomorrow and my flight got delayed so I won't be there until 9am that same day. This should be a fun interview.

You're lucky it's a late one, at 11:30.
I'll actually be there as well.

Hey all. Congrats to those who have gotten a secondary or an interview invite. I am currently a D2 at Maryland. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me. Best of luck to all applying!

Any tips for the interview? (format, what to expect, preparation, etc)

What's your favorite things about the school? Least favorite parts?

How are you coping with the dental school life?

What's the curriculum like?

How is the Baltimore area? What's the housing like?

Anyone that interviewed already mind sharing how it went?
Haven't been on SDN in a while so sorry this is delayed, I was in the first interview group so I can share a bit of input 🙂 there were 20 students being interviewed, and it was a 2 on 1 interview with a faculty member and a dental student. The day was pretty laid back, we got there and had a PowerPoint on the program and city, then a financial aid PowerPoint, and then either eat lunch and relax or go to your interview. Quite a few Maryland residents being interviewed, and based on the people I was sitting with lots had finished their degree and were taking a year off! Not sure if this helps, just the general trend I noticed 🙂 good luck to anyone who gets an interview ! Nice school, good area!

I like that it is relatively affordable considering other options. It is very doable to get instate residence after the first year if you are OOS. Most of the professors are absolutely amazing and are super approachable. Many of the dental professors in your lab courses such as in D1 operative course and D2 endo course will go out of your way to make sure you are getting it in lab. They really seem to care about helping out their students. They treat you more like colleagues than students. Best thing has to be MEDIASITE! Every lecture is video and audio recorded and trust me, you will wonder how dental school would be possible if you didn't have mediasite to rewatch lectures. It has saved my booty more times than I can even begin to imagine. The school also does a good job at easing you into it all during the first few weeks of D1 year.

Make sure to do stuff that you like when you have a little free time. Go out or work out or something. Get hammered if that's your thing.

What's the curriculum like?
It's a heck of a lot of stuff and it goes a mile a minute, but it's doable. Sometimes, you'll wonder why you even signed up but it. You'll be taking about 28-32 credits/semester, but this isn't unique to Maryland at all. Again, you have mediasite and that will help you out more than you can imagine. Trust me.

How is the Baltimore area? What's the housing like?
Baltimore kind of sucks. It is very block-by-block meaning that one block will be nice then the next one is okay and the one after that is pretty crappy. The school is on the edge of a bad area and close to a good area. It's just something you'll have to deal with. I've never had a problem walking outside late at night but maybe I'm just lucky. If I was a woman and alone, I wouldn't dare walk back to my car/apartment at night. Best to go in a group if you fall into that category. Lot's on campus-owned and not campus-owned housing. More than you can imagine. Some places get sketchy at night, but hey, that's just part of being in any city.

Hey everyone! Congrats and good luck to those who have gotten an interview. To those who haven't, it is still pretty early in the interview cycle so no need to stress out yet 🙂

If you have any questions, please feel free to message me. As stated previously, I am a third year student (FINALLY in clinic!) and generally have good advice 😉

Someone at another interview I went to described Maryland as being "cut throat"....would you agree with that? I still have no interview but crossing my fingers hard!

Every dental class has a few gunners regardless of where you end up going. You will run into them. It is inevitable. I tend to stay away from them, but the exceedingly vast majority of those in my class are the farthest thing from being gunners. Now the new D1 class, there seems to be more gunners in that class, but hopefully those few will get their share of humble pie soon enough. Hopefully.

There are gunners in every class. The class of 2019 as so many more than my class and the D1s seem to have a good amount as well. I will say Maryland tends to have a family feeling. There are so many clubs, orgs, etc and most upperclassmen are more than happy to help (on their time of course... we are busy people)

I have to agree that your class wins the most chill award of our school.

Does anyone know if Maryland calls or if they exclusively use email? I received a call from a Baltimore area code, but I can't use the phone until later tonight. Didn't leave a voicemail (and my email inbox is also empty) so I suspect it was just a telemarketer, but just want to make sure.
