Well, I feel like our money is going to a good place, but it's several hundred bucks a month that would be helpful to us right now....I could easily have a nice car (instead of the city bus) for what we tithe.
I feel your pain on this one. Let's just hope that when we're actually making the bulk of the money that they don't try to pull that "the church says we're really supposed to give 10% of our pre-tax earnings" crap. I don't remember what church you belong to, but wifey is Catholic and there's no way I'm donating 10% of my poor earnings to them when they're sitting on a stack of gold in the Vatican that would make any leprechaun jealous.
were you parked in the handicap lot today? do you have tags for that, young man?
That must drive you guys crazy. The woman who's putting me through school lets me make all the decisions about how the money is spent. But it's a little creepy because whenever I go to the bathroom, she's right there with me.
The sound of aortic regurgitation makes me want to sleep. I wonder if my mom had it when I was in the uterus and thus it is a soothing sound.
pretty much all the murmurs have a bit of a relaxing feel to them.
pretty much all the murmurs have a bit of a relaxing feel to them.
They should make a murmur setting on white noise makers:
Babbling brook
plain ol' white noise
Ocean
Patent Ductus Arteriosus
Chirping crickets
i think it would be better if you could modify the murmurs and their qualities. i think some people might sleep better with a systolic crescendo/decrescendo murmur than a patent DA.
I think that would sound a lot like the ocean sounds then, with the waves rolling in and out. I want to go home now.
You're not home yet?! What are you waiting for?
Home as in Maui. I'd go home to take the boards, but there's no place on Maui to take them... sadness.
I may go home after the boards.
You can't pad the prolificity of our 2009 thread by editing thoughts into a previous post. Give that bad boy some room to breath in a post of its very own!
Duly noted, my good man. It shan't happen again...![]()
i still don't see how I can have the most posts in these threads...i don't feel like i've been posting much lately.
How do you all study for pharm? Just endlessly go through the note cards?
(don't even worry about pharm right now, seriously)
He's right. Pharm is just one of those classes that you'll get through without having any idea how you managed it (at least it has been so far for me--still 40% of the grade yet determined).
Right now, focus on the lovely vacation that's awaiting you, and if you are bound and determined to do something productive over the summer other than research review BRS Phys late in the summer and maybe give Microbiology Made Ridiculously Easy a quick read. Neither of these is essential at all, but I know how hard it is to cut back on school stress-time during the summer.
we just got the pre-exam rules via email from pharm. I love how it ended: "good luck in your careers, and don't forget your pharmacology. Your patients will be counting on you."
That's assuming I had known my pharmacology in the first place. That's the PDA's job.
Did you folks realize that you can download entire textbooks onto your PDA in addition to the (presumably) nifty programs they're going to give us? Or that you can watch movies?
Not sure which will come in handier. All I know is that I can't wait to have a portable, non-greasy Netter to carry with me.
i realized that my PDA has the potential, per the handouts, to interfere with patients' lifesaving electronic devices.
I doubt you'll need the assistance.
really? I'm in the process of encrypting a bunch of DVD rips onto my iPod, but I didn't know the handhelds could store movies. My Dell Axim has a mini Windows Media Player, but you need some massive memory to hold more than one movie (I had a one gig SD card).Or that you can watch movies?
You haven't been, which is why I'm going to beat you to the 2K mark. How ya like dem apples?
some people prefer notecards, others use charts, i'm sure there are other means. problem with both of those methods is that they are time consuming and if you don't put them together early on you waste precious study time just making them, so you gotta do it early. plus, it's tricky to figure out what info you want on the cards. i tend to go overboard and my flashcards are basically all of the information for each drug only written really small. so that's a tad inconvenient but I can't hold back when I make them. (don't even worry about pharm right now, seriously)
Oh well, off to scrub.
Why didn't we learn about cowbell in pharm?
I'm not too worried about it yet. I saw one of your classmates over at starbucks and she had 2 stacks of note cards that were about a foot high. I just wondered if that was the way that eveyone does it. She said that the good part about all of it was that MCW students usually kick butt on the pharm portions of step I.
How ya like dem apples?
So a few of us have been on these boards since 2004, and I have the fewest posts by far. That makes me feel inadequate.
Oh well, off to scrub.

anybody know why, when I drink soda or acidic juices on an empty stomach, why not only my stomach, but also my shoulders ache?
referred pain from acid reflux?
does it exist?
reminds me of the time my partner on the ambulance neglected to tell me he shut off the oxygen tank when we were transferring an oxygen dependent prisoner back to the prison from the hospital...flowmeter gauge was gradually dropping, but I didn't notice it right away, so cranked it back up. Then it occurred to me the tank must have been shut off, so I cranked the tank back open, without remembering to turn the flowmeter back down. So, when I opened the tank the flowmeter was actually open for more like 15+ liters than the 5 liters that it looked like it was set at. He had a nasal cannula in, so he got a nice powerful blast of air in the head. I saw him sorta shaking his head from the shock, so when I apologized he said "no man, actually felt kinda good, I'm usually all stuffed up."
I hate it when landlords add all kinds of stupid stipulations in their leases. If I want to cancel my lease, I have to pay the next two months rent at the time of the 60 day notice, I have to clean the refrigerator coils every month, I can't keep paint thinner in my storage locker, I can't pound any nails into anything, anywhere, without the LESSOR'S permission, can't leave a pair of shoes in the hallway to dry off, and these are just the things I can think of off the top of my head. I'll be negotiating a thing or two on there (can't pound a nail in the wall? gimme a break!)
Absolutely...that's why you have to be careful to r/o MI when you're working up GERD...or vice versa.
