Yes we are! Woo hoo! Still can't stop smiling! Excited to see who else got accepted... anyone that interviewed on November 2?

Thanks for starting this thread. Was wondering if we were going to have one. I interviewed on Nov. 24th and enjoyed visiting the school.

Interviewed in the middle of September. Finally In! Congrats to everyone!

Interviewed early October and totally fell in love with the school and Arizona. Looking forward to meeting you guys there next year.

Congrats all! Look forward to seeing you in August. Enjoy your time off! Join your Midwester University Class of 2014 FB page.

I interviewed November 2 and got accepted Tuesday. So stoked, I loved the school when we were there! Did any of those Kansas kids get in? There were a bunch of them!

I just put my deposit down... I am "officially" a student at MWU. Don't know why they used the quotation marks in the e-mail... I hope they aren't "implying" anything. Lol.

@ SuperTank: I noticed that when I paid my deposit yesterday. Thought it was funny too.

@ MWUDMD2013: Please post the link for the FB page. Thanks.

Thanks for the thread, I just became a member of the group.

Has anyone who interviewed on Dec. 1st heard on a decision? I know we were told two different things: one person said we'd hear within a few days and another said we'd hear in early January (after deposits are due).

Both make sense but I'm thinking it'll be in January. Also-to those who were accepted on Dec. 1st when is the deposit due? January 4th someone told me. Thanks!

It's frustrating having interviewed on the 1st. Nov 30th people found out a day later. I just don't want to wait..I LOVE the school!

yea the deposits are due Jan 4th. good luck and hope u hear some good news soon

😀
Iam in too. I interviewd on Nov 23rd. alittle scared though , dont know anybody and anywhere there 😕 hope we make good friends and roommates😎

Congrats! I don't know anyone there either, but folks in AZ seem pretty friendly (I drove around a lot before and after my interview). Will be fun seeing how everything works out🙂

P.S. Come join the FB group (see link above).

Just curious... has anyone received an e-mail or a letter from MWU, like an official acceptance letter, or maybe a welcome packet. I'm surprised they haven't *officially* contacted me yet...

Nope. nothing yet. There's a welcome letter in the portal but it's from the previous class...

The welcome letter will come. I just dug mine out and it was dated 12/1, so you'll probably be getting them in the mail within the next week or so. If they didn't change the format, it will congratulate you, remind you that you have to meet the minimum admission requirements by matriculation if you haven't already done so, and tell you how to submit your deposit. Final transcripts will need to be sent from each school you attended, and you have to read a number of items on the MWUportal and electronically sign them. Finally, if you are interested in on campus housing, space is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis, so sign up ASAP.

That's all that was in the initial letter. In addition, at some point you will need to print off some papers from a health section and get your immunizations up to date and get a physical. You also have to have a blood titer drawn to ensure that your antibodies are at an appropriate level for each vaccine. The due date for these isn't until after school starts, but if your current health insurance will cover it, it's not a bad idea to get a head start b/c you hit the ground running once classes start. If you don't have insurance now, I would wait b/c the student plan is pretty good and covers most of these costs.

Hi all I just got a letter from the school it was the official offer letter. I'm excited to be going there.

Sweet, so I should be getting my letter this afternoon when I get the mail. It's sure going to be nice to have that thing in my hand!

Hey congrats to everyone! I just submitted my deposit and can't wait to get out to Arizona and meet you all.

I interviewed on October 6th and met some really cool people that day, I was curious if anyone else from the 10/6 interview received good news as well?

Also, is anyone considering making a trip to glendale to actually experience the city and look around for some living options?

My wife and I are planning on going down sometime in April to visit friends and look for housing. We;re planning on actually moving in June to get all settled in before school starts in late August.

You should come by and visit if you do. Not quite close to the school though....

Congratulations you guys! I enjoyed my visit/interview at the school. Hopefully I will get an acceptance letter there in the future.

Hi all I just got a letter from the school it was the official offer letter. I'm excited to be going there.

I got my letter today. And my gas bill. Guess which one made me happy? Here's a clue... it's the one that'll cost $300K, not the one for $101.

got my letter yesterday! and a discounted gas coupon! kinda makes up for the steelers losing to 'fraidy quinn last night...

was wondering if anyone else is lacking credits for anatomy and physiology. I have credits but coming from a quarter system school I'm lacking a couple units. I'm trying to enroll and local schools like community colleges but most are full because of so many pre-health students. I was wondering if anyone is having this problem. I'm starting to get worried.

I am in this boat, too. Mine is anatomy and microbiology. I didn't have to take them to graduate, but MWU requires them. I have done a bit of research, and I was planning on attending a local CC for the lecture and lab courses in both. I ran into the same problem as you, all the lecture's are full. Also, they won't let me register until they get my official college transcript, which they won't update until the week before classes start.

So here's my plan: My university (BYU) offers lots of classes through independent study. I am going to take both classes through that ($440 each) and then the labs at the community college, as there is still space available. I'm pretty sure BYU will let anyone take their home study courses, so if you can't find anything else, it's something to consider. PM me if you want more details. I hope that helps!

Yea that sounds like a plan. I'll have to look into the lab classes then. I'll definitely send you a PM. Thanks for the idea.

I tried calling the office but was wondering if anyone else, maybe supertank, would know the answer. I'm still looking around my area for both anatomy and physiology classes. I was wondering if I could take a combined course in anatomy and physiology instead of taking one in anatomy and a separate one in physiology. Thanks.

That's an interesting question, and I'm sorry I don't know the answer. I wouldn't think they would let you, but it honestly doesn't hurt to ask. That would be a great time/$ saver if they do...

Yea trying to save as much as I can before school starts. Ill wait and see what the advisor says. Thanks supertank.

Hey kflinstone
I have the same problem. most of the nearby colleges dont let me to take anatomy and Phisio at the same time, so I looked up all online classes and open universities, was able to add myself in waitlist (which is unlikley ) so I called them to see if they will let me take the other one later or take one of my other bio classes instead but they were reaaly strict about it. and I also asked about the anat/phisio class they said they need 4 units of anatomy w/q lab and 4 units of phisio w lab so basically was a no, but try again see if they will let u do that if u write them a letter describing ur situation. I will try to do the same. GL :luck:

Hey mermaid,
I totally feel you. I can't find a class anywhere that's open. since we're not a student at the different schools we don't get priority for enrollment which makes it impossible to get into these impacted classes. Starting to stress me out. Anyways, you said something about writing a letter? is it to let them know the difficulty in getting into these classes? Thanks for the help.

Aye ya, I am in the same boat (although I haven't been accepted). I am lacking 2 units of physiology and 6 units of anatomy with lab. However, this community college offers a 6 unit course "Human Anatomy & Physiology." I hope this counts... but the class is full for Winter quarter. I hope I will be able to enroll in spring.

Should I email the ADCOMs at Midwestern and ask if this course will be sufficient even though I haven't been accepted?

yea you should contact them just to make sure. don't want to let a class get in the way of matriculating. that's tough though since everythings up in the air. dang these classes. Haha

Hey doanh...I haven't been accepted but called last week about prereqs. Also, I have 3 hours of physiology and 5 of anatomy. They don't count towards each other. I was told I have to take a 4 hour physiology course.
Good luck...when was your interview date?

Hey doanh...I haven't been accepted but called last week about prereqs (I tested out of my school's english courses but still have to take them if I get accepted at MWU). Also, I have 3 hours of physiology and 5 of anatomy. They don't count towards each other. I was told I have to take a 4 hour physiology course over again (the extra from the anatomy won't count towards the physiology).

You may want to call and double check though. Good luck...when was your interview date?

I interviewed on Dec 8th. I emailed admin with my pre-req question but I'm not sure I stated my question clearly. He replied with "we will accept the classes." I know they will accept those classes but I'm not sure if it fulfilled both requirements haha.

I wish schools were either all quarter or all semester so we don't have these weird gaps! All the community colleges are FULL too--- everyone needs to take biology courses and not enough space :\

I will see you guys when you get there in the fall. I'm one of your removable instructors and a Clinical Care Coordinator. Congratulations you have made a very very good choice.

Thanks! Loved the school and can't wait to get it started.

I don't know if this will help anyone but in the LA area, there's a couple spots open for anatomy and physiology at San Bernardino Valley College. It's a bit of a drive for those not in the inland empire but it will work. I'll probably look around for some closer ones near LA, Orange County areas. I'll let you guys know.

Hey all! Congrats on your acceptance! I just recieved an interview invite for MWU and I was just wondering if any of you knew what the post-dec interview acceptance rates are like?? Flights are looking expensive and if I'm just going to be interviewing for an alternate position or something, then I'm not sure if it would be worth it! Any info would be helpful! Thanks!

hey Kflinstone
by writing a letter I meant an official letter saying that we are having problems finding empty spots in those classes due to CA budget cut and see if they will have any other option . I myself live in Sf so I cant go to LA schools, I found no empty seats for anatomy / phisiology . and I tried talking to the dean , instructors and everyone responsible, but noone seemed to care. I dont know what to do, I see if I can find any classes. GL:luck:

I will definitely write a letter. I've never had such a hard time getting into a class. I did however talk to my counselor at Midwestern and she said I instead of taking separate anatomy and physiology classes, I could take the second semester of the combined Anatomy and Physiology class. The funny thing is that I did find an opening but the community college said I did not meet the prereqs for the class because I didn't take the Anatomy and Physiology I. I'll keep looking though. Good luck!

I am also in the "one class short boat." What coure number did anyone else take to fullfill the Microbiology requirement? The University of Florida offers MCB3020 and MCB2000. Of course MCB3020 is full, but I was wondering if MCB2000 would count. Are there any other accepted students who took a 2000-level course for Microbiology and do you know if Midwestern is accepting that for your pre-reqs? Thanks.

The 2000 level Microbiology is not as intensive as the 3000 level; My wife took the 2000 level at FSU to satisfy her prerequisites for nursing school, but my advisor stated that the upper level course was needed for Dental/Medical school, hence why I took it (also at FSU). The best way to find out if they take it would be to call MWU and ask, but I would try as hard as you can to pick the 3000-level class up during add/drop. Good luck!

Im definetly going to try for the 3000 level. When I talked to admissions they said they would accept 200 level or higher. The answer was kind of vague because he wasn't familiar with the thousand level system. Do you think 200 level = 2000 level according to MWU?

Hey everyone. I just got the great news today! Has anyone looked at apartments yet or considered sharing a 2/3 bedroom apt?

Congrats Punkin! I checked out apts when I went for the interview... my husband and I are thinking of getting an apt at Archstone Arrowhead. The prices are decent, and it's close enough to school and other amenities (the Arrowhead mall is close by).

Once u pay ur seat deposit, you should have access to a list of apts in the area (it's on the intranet somewhere). There are also pple on the facebook group who are looking for roommates, so you might want to check that out. Good luck!
