This is the official score release thread for the August 2006 MCAT. Feel free to post serious information and announcements about the impending score release. highest practice = 38 (aamc 9)

lowest = 21

32R...not sure where that puts me, mid-range school i guess. should be ok. i'm glad i didni't bomb it, but i did study the whole summer.

1. Your Form (If you remember): HJ (i think?)

2. Your Practice Score Range: can't totally remember. i think i got 27 on my first (before studying), and finished with around 36 on some of the last aamc practices i did.

3. What you used to Study: examkrackers books (not the 1001 problems though), audio osmosis, a couple of aamc practice exams.

4. How do you feel right now?

relieved and happy! i'm surprised by my score, though. i thought i screwed up PS, and i found VR easy, but obviously that didn't turn out how i expected. i'm excited to have that bio 13 since it might help explain away a less-than-stellar orgo mark? i'm proud of my writing score 🙂 and since i'm a canadian applicant, i think this is probably a good breakdown for these true north schools!


i have a question, though... my poor boyfriend logged in and didn't get his scores, even though he wrote the test. he filed a complaint, but he's obviously stressed and worried. has anyone had that happen before or known someone who has? i feel so bad for him 🙁

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone, there are some extremely smart people on this board... and it looks like most people got what they wanted! 😀

37Q (13, 11, Q, 13) on Form DJ. Just one point under what I predicted, and three points under what was needed to satisfy my fragile ego.

Practice Test Range- ~30-37

Materials Used: Kaplan Premier, MCAT 45; TP's 2004 Edition; Genetics and Biochem textbooks (Griffiths and Lehninger, respectively)

How I'm feeling--Mission Accomplished, pretty much (for the time being). Four more semesters left for me, so that means four 4.0s with my name on them. No time to rest on laurels.

According to www.mdphds.org --the best site ever--the range for MCAT scores for the MSTP program at Wash U is 29-42. From my understanding for the MSTP criteria--even if you have a 45T, adcoms won't look at you if you've never been in a lab before. Build up your research experience and you'll be money.

Mood: Totally confused joy and adulation... I dreamed of a 35Q in september and got pissed when I woke up, so I slapped myself this time, and made sure the score release name was mine. Now i have to wipe spit off my monitor from the kissing.

the additional stuff that I didn't list before (played some Halo2 to celebrate):

practice test range: 34-43, but all but 2 were 36-41

studying: ExamKrackers comprehensive review, verbal workbook, all AAMC's, some Kaplan but no prep courses of any kind, just the practice tests you buy at the store

feelings: very happy. right on what I thought I'd get, and it's glorious.

HOLY CRAP I HAVE A MIDTERM TMR NOW I CANNOT STUDY

Score: 41R!!!! 13 in VR, 14 BS, 14 PS (really wanted that 15 PS but EF THAT 41 baby hahaah)

Form: B.. G? Something like that.. starts with B..

Range: 30-42 (I took like 20 practicees, no joke, last two were 42)

Mood: Before I checked and after the first few minutes my heart was beating SO FAST ... now I'm better.. I htink. just need to calm down and get back to studying...

I have been eating like mad man the whole week because I was so nervous. Today I walked around the U-Mart for 10 minutes telling myself I just had pasta an hour ago before I bought a scone. Delicious maple-chocolate chip scones.

I am just glad the wait is over with. Hallelujah

I've been out of school for a few years and work full-time so I studied independently using Kaplan and EK. Most of the time was spent on refresh/catch up. I am pretty content with my numerical score, but am concerned about my writing sample. I heard the WS was unimportant so I didn't focus on it at all, hence my sub par score. Do you think it's worth retaking? My GPA was 3.9. (BTW- During the test, I thought I bombed BS and did pretty good on PS. Why is this the craziest/most confusing test ever?!)

Any insight would be appreciated!

For sure happy about the score, I would have like maybe 1 or 2 more points but its whatever now. I am done slaying the beast, now I get like 8 months till applications. hell yea!!

I, too, usually scored higher in Bio on my practice tests than in Verbal. But I have no issues with how things turned out. 😎

Congratulations though to ALL of you who were happy with your scores or even those of you who got great scores and weren't happy (like dogmod, wow! except I think you are happy hehehe :laugh: )

Will make more posts later. Study study study now...

PS. While I was doing the MCAT I made a private MCAT blog... is there any interest in others seeing it? Maybe I'll post it in some other thread

36R... thanks god!

12PS 11VR 13BS.... i don't know how i got 12 for PS, I thought it slaughtered me. I am walking on air right now. What this means:
1. I could actually get into a med school 😱
2. I can have a happy summer this time :meanie:
3. I never have to do physics or chemistry, ever, EVER again! 😀

I am soooo incrediibly happy. Congrats to everyone. Hard work payed off, it wasn't a wasted summer after all!

I used Kaplan and felt like I had done worse on the PS.....the others I felt were about right. Kudos to all the intellectual giants out there with their massive scores.

So probably won't apply.

Kaplan Course(not worth the money!)

All my old textbooks for all the subjects. MCAT syllabus(Good for everything but NOT the organic chem section.) I had an entire passage on alkenes and it wasnt even on the syllabus so I got screwed. I mean, come on, the syllabus is the official thing and it says this is what is covered. Oh well, @!#$ it.
Exam Krakers or w/e for the bio section in addition to my textbook. A lot of studying. I didn't do as well as I hoped. No I mean it, I was hoping for a higher verbal(historically its been my highest score) and orgo screwed me over. Personally I think I could have done as well as my physical but things didnt work out. I didnt finish the last passage questions(like 3) and probably made some dumb mistakes( I always did and assumed I'd fix it by exam time...I mean really dumb mistakes, nothing that reflects my real abilities and well bio I told you about already).

I'm really disappointed at getting a 7 on the verbal. I know I could have done a lot better if I didn't get bogged down on a couple passages. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the sciences. I'll probably retake in April since I have a pretty low GPA.

hey score twin (breakdown and even writing)! sorry you didn't do as well as you'd have liked - i wasn't surprised by verbal at all, historically it's been my weakest section, I was a little upset i didn't do better in the bio section but such is life - it's over and even better we did well!

Well, I expected scores to come out tomorrow so I didn't check until this morning.

Surprises? Pretty much the whole score.
Verbal is the lowest score I have ever gotten on a practice test (I was consistently in the 11-13 range).
PS: I struggled to break a 9 on practice tests and ended up with an 11
BS: I only got a 12 once on a practice exam

Study Methods: I did independent study with examkrackers with some other sources (Nova review books, kaplan review book) mixed in.

Practice test scoring: I ranged from a 28 to 34 so this score is right in line with how I was scoring. All in all I am pleased.

Reaction: I am shocked, this score (I think) is good enough to get in to a med school somewhere, yikes. Now I need to deal with this reality.

Congrats to all the August test takers on SDN. I know if it wasn't for this forum I would not have done so well.

holy crap! we're almost twins! I got a 39S too!

14 PS, 12 VR, 13 BS

I too ranged from a 31-36 with an avg of 34. I am completely blown away. so happy! the VR and BS scores are higher than I've ever had, and the PS ties my highest practice PS!
