Might as well start things rolling, I know there are a few of you that backed out of April's test that can post here too 😉
Post any AAMC, Kaplan, PR or EK full length test scores here, let's see how we progress: (PS,VR,BS)

Let's get the August excitement rolling!

Woohooooooo I just broke 30 on 4R. I got 10's across the board and almost got an 11 on VR and BS. missed it by a few stupid mistakes in second guessing myself

👍 Good stuff. Congrats.

I barely sniffed a 9 on verbal on that thing.

There are some people who are weak on the real one. I've seen numerous people with high practice exam scores but not one the real one.

The real question is why?

I have gotten:
AAMC 6: 37
AAMC 7: 36
AAMC 8: 37

If I fall to a 34 or 35 I'll be fine... If I were to drop to a 30, I'd be kind of disappointed. I mean a 30 is a great score, but I HAVE been doing better...

I wonder if it is mostly nerves that grill people on the actual day.

Considering my own precipitous fall, I would say it was nerves, not only the day of but the week of. Gonna get a sleeping med this time though. I am, unfortunately, a very, very "high strung" person.

Yeah. I have a friend who had a fall last time around. It happens. She got nerved out I think.

how does kaplan's verbal suck?
Like I said "ive heard" so I havn't actually done any kaplan verbal. However from what I've read on the forums here and stuff is that they say kaplan verbal is based around the kaplan verbal strategy.....which is details within the passage. AAMC's are much more about understanding the passage/its focus. I'm sure people who have done and experienced both would have alot more to say/more accurate information so don't take what I have to say as the ultimate word...or let my opinion stresss you out this close to the test. I know alot of people have used the kaplan method/practice and done very well on the verbal.

Now that I've taken at least 3 Kaplan full lengths, I can tell you why I hate their Verbal........

If you take an AAMC test and you take a Kaplan test, you find that the AAMC verbals you can do just be reading through the passage and being able to synthesize the main idea. The Kaplan verbals are too long and they are too detail oriented in their questions. Their questions are nothing like what you see on a typical AAMC tests. That said, their science sections rock even though they are harder because they make you think and get you to see your weaknesses.

TPR verbal isn't as good as EK's or AAMCs either, however I'd say it is more comparable then Kaplan's verbal to the real deal. It also focuses more on main idea and is easier to decipher the answers from then Kaplan which requires you to go back to the passage alot. At least that was my experience.

ah good job... i seem to be stuck in 26-29 range. why is that 30 so hard to crack?... anyone think i can up my verbal from 6 to 10 in 2 weeks? suggestions?

take more practice tests, especially the AAMC ones... there is not much else you can do whether you have 2 weeks or 2 months... If you had 2 years, maybe... If you can find the EK 101 Verbal Passages book at your bookstore (Barnes and Nobles sometimes have them) or order it online and get it quickly I'd strongly recommend doing that, since that would give you the only chance to do anything about boosting your score

I'd only be happy with a 35+ considering how much time I've put in to studying... I already have a 30 from over two years ago, when I took it cold, so not improving on that would make me quite a bit mad... I just hope I hold or improve my old VR 11 score :scared:

3R 12-9-10 31
4R 10-8-11 28
Kaplan? 11-10-11 32
5R 12-10-12 34
6R 12-11-11 34
8 11-11-11 33
Princeton? 8-10-10 28
Kaplan FL4 13-10-12 35

The ? ones are from books I purchased at bookstores. Anyone else starting to freak out with 2 weeks left to go?

I'm not freaking out, I'm at the point where I just want to get this exam over with so I can get on with my life and have this off my shoulders.

....and about the kaplan tests, you guys are right it is more detailed, but it has really helped me improve my verbal a lot. I started out scoring 5s and 6s, now on the last two aamc exams I got a 9, and each time one question away from a 10. So it actually helped me out.

I'm going to do AAMC 7 in a second... thought I'd post this so I'd keep myself honest and make sure I go through with the whole thing... bitch me out if I don't post a score report by the end of the night 😀

I'm walking around the computer lab right now and five of the six people are on SDN... haha, must be getting close to the MCAT

I'm currently in the process of 6R. Just taking a break between PS and VR. 😀

I got off from work early so I am gonna go take an EK verbal exam. I hope this one is good. 🙄

The EK lecture exams (not sure if you did those or just the non-verbal ones) or the 101 passages?

Will be taking 8 next week. Probably monday or tuesday. I was going to take it tomorrow when I realized I only had 2 exams left, 8 and 9. So i decided to hold off.

Yeah I thought about that but I'm trying to get my Saturday routine down.

I don't see how you guys can take the practice tests in the morning. I'm way too tired to even try. Once I get up and feel awake enough (about 2PM), I start taking them. I know some you probably think it's a bad idea for me to do that, but when test day rolls around, I will be WIDE awake at 6 AM with all the juices flowing. I never get in the same mood during practice tests than when I do during actual exams.

Taking 8 tomorrow through TPR. Hopefully it'll go better than my last practice tests!

5R (diag)-8,6,6 =20
EK 1G - 8,7,7 = 22
3R -10,8,8 =26
EK 2g- 11,6,8 =25
AAMC 4r- 9,7,8=24

Just took ek 101 #10 and got a 6 😡

I have been in the upper 7 range and have been taking a full verbal every day fomr that book and i get a freakin 6. cant beleive it. maybe im burned out. My scores are going down the drain. I found 4R to be challenging

I hate verbal!

Tomorrow- ek 3g

Good Luck !

Ouch. 9R PS was pretty tough. Ended up with an 11. Going to tackle BS and VR tomorrow.

The 101 passages. I did #7 today and got a 9. I was one point from a ten again. 🙁

Just finished 6R. Got an 8 on VR, looks to be my average so far for 3R-6R even though the range is 6-10. I definitely wasn't as familiar with any of these passages as I was for 5R when I got a 10. I think my only hope for doing well on this section is to get lucky and have passages that aren't so new to me. Raw score was 38/60, which was 2 questions above a high 7 score. I guess the bright side is that I was 3 questions from a 9.

I finally got a 13 in PS, but I hated this PS section, it stressed some of the basics like atomic numbers, isotopes, crap I don't remember too well so I spent way too much time on those questions. BS was easier than 5R by far imo. I went up from a 10 to 13 (barely). Topics weren't asking too much backhand information. Only a few questions that EK never talked about (discretes) were things I just had to guess. I have to stress that the bio part was by far the easiest for me. Orgo wasn't that bad. I got a raw score on PS and BS of 70/77, which is just barely in the 13s (69/77) is a 12. Man...this verbal is killing me...I don't even know what the hell they're talking about half the time so I just end up guessing.

7/24/06 1g - 27 - 10PS 7VR 10BS
7/26/06 3R - 29 - 12PS 8VR 9BS
7/29/06 4R - 28 - 11PS 6VR 11BS
8/01/06 5R - 32 - 12PS 10VR 10BS
8/04/06 6R - 34 - 13PS 8VR 13BS

Edit: In other news, I just got my updated drivers license mailed with my new address. I almost forgot to get a new one because my MCAT ticket has my current address and my license wasn't updated. I think they wouldn't have let me in the testing room because of the other address. Close one. 🙂

Edit #2: I'd like to point out that my scores aren't going up because of learning new material. I had everything memorized from EK the day before I took 1g. I think my scores have mainly changed becaues: 1) I'm getting more practice with the PS and BS, especially PS, but 2) I think some of the topics in varying exams have varying difficulty. Notice how VR stays the same and BS goes up and down.

Williams- nice improvement! I am going to be hitting these practice tests hard next week. AAMC 7 tomorrow under real testing conditions (with other annoying people and writing section) 😱

Good luck on 7. I'm really not looking into my scores too much right now. 7-9 will be representative so hopefully I can do just as well.

Will you be taking it at ~9AM? I should probably practice the WS myself, too. Not for the wearing down prior to BS, but to see how badly I write under timed difficult topics.

No, we are starting at 8AM. :scared:

Just wanted to drop in and say good luck everyone! It's almost game time baby!

3R: 10/12/11 = 33

practice tests really make you realize how important it is to know EVERYTHING inside and out. one passage on the kidney and i was like 😱

4R in....... 6 hours!! nite

Yeah I think I'm going to AAMC 7 today in about half an hour under full conditions.

Yeah, bout to get off on 5R in an hour or so.....shooting for a 34 or so, we'll see.

Here's hopin' for focus for everyone and good luck on your tests today.

WTR aka Neutered by Picasso :scared:

Edit: So far PS13 72/77 VR9 42/60 😡 Bio....coming

I am truly a dumba$$ for thinking I could handle Picasso, 8/10 missed and 16 minutes spent. Wow.

Bump for update.

Sooo wrote aamc 8, starting @ 9 this morning... Long weekend here, and the library was closed, resorted to writing in the university community center, somewhat distracting but all went well

PS: 10, VR: 11, BS: 10 = 31 🙂

Add that to a
TPR 4911: PS: 6, VR: 8 BS: 3 = 17
TPR 4921: PS: 5, VR: 7 BS: 6 = 18
TPR 4931: PS: 8, VR: 10 BS: 6 = 24
AAMC 7 : PS: 12, VR: 10 BS: 9 = 31

All that being said... I've neglected Physical to get my bio to a 10 and still need to review orgo as I tended to blankly stare at some it today....

I would love it if I got this score with a Q on the real deal but think I could get some more 11's even 12's if everything went well...

That's the update, work my ass off on review until the next one on wednesday

Ok I'm scared s*** because I got a 10 on VR on Kaplan FL1 but a 7 on EK101 Test 1, and everyone's been telling me how EK101 is a better indicator of the real thing.

😱

Holy crap! I just took aamc 8 this morning and got a 38!! (B: 13 P: 14 V: 11)
Don't ask how I got a 14 on PS, I have no clue.
Ah, imagine if I could pull this off Aug. 19th....life would be nice.... 😀

Kaplan diagnostic..........21 (6 PS, 7 VR, 8 BS)
AAMC 3R.....................30 (8 PS, 11 VR, 11 BS)

Kaplan 3......................28 (9 PS, 8 VR, 11 BS)
AAMC 6R.....................31 (11 PS, 8 VR, 12 BS)

hahahaha. Its definitely possible if you started with a 31 on your first TPR diag which is almost unheard of. Who knows maybe you'll break 40. 😉

Edit: Hey don't want to neglect those of you getting ever higher scores. Congrats and keep up the good work, only a little time left.

Good luck.

Final update..

AAMC 5R 34T
PS-13 72/77 VR-9 42/60 BS-12 65/77

Got railed by verbal once again....another casualty of Picasso.
PS - yeah, yeah, I will believe it when I see it in a few months but I have been working pretty hard in this area.
BS- Definitely need to get to studying Bio or I am going to end up with my PS being the highest section.......oh gads no!

Overall, meh, who knows. I have little faith in the predictive powers of these earlier aamc's and I have already taken 7,8 and 9, scored well and then bombed the test so I am a little cynical about it all but fortunately hard headed enough to keep plowin' through.

Gone to have a cold one.

Just took Kaplan #5, and wow was it weird. Normally I'd be in a huff about how bad my score was, but I just don't care.

Kaplan Diagnostic 8PS 9VR 10BS
Kaplan #1 10PS 7VR 11BS
Kaplan #2 10PS 8VR 11BS
Kaplan #3 11PS 10VR 11BS
Kaplan #4 11PS 11VR 10BS
AAMC 4R 10PS 10VR 10BS
Kaplan #5 10PS 7VR 11BS <----- this is pretty weird

Anyways, any help for improving in PS, or is kaplan's just so much harder? For BS, I know what I'm doing wrong, and haven't been studying the sciences very much (in fact, I picked up a science book this week since May) so that's why I haven't been doing well. It took me a while to build verbal up, I am convinced my diagnostic was a fluke. So, yea, about getting really good in PS...any secrets aside from more studying?

Alright, my first post: (I am taking TPR)
4911: 9P 6V 10B
4921: 8P 8V 11B
4931: 11P 9V 11B
AAMC 8: 11P 11V 11B
AAMC 7: 14P 10V 12B
Can I assume that I will get about 34-36 on the real deal? Even though I scored really well on AAMC 7, it is still a little frustrating that all of my errors on PS and BS were thinking errors, not content-based errors. I am hoping, but not expecting, to get 37+.

Sure, why not? Be careful with those or you might end up assuming a position on all fours with your face smashed into urinal and the BEAST behind, steady wearin' your a$$ out. j/k

Score looks good to me, take 9 for the heck of it and see what happens.

g'luck.

Here is my update...

3R: 27---> 9/8/10
4R: 26---> 9/8/9
5R: 28---> 9/9/10 (was 1 point away from 10 on both PS and VR)

I am going to break 30 next week...I feel it! 😛

Practice Test Progress through the Summer:
5/10/06: AAMC 3R - 8PS, 8BS, 12VR (28)
6/3/06: TPR diagnostic 4911 (proctored) - 8PS, 8BS, 11VR (27)
6/10/06: AAMC 6R - 9PS, 12BS, 11VR (32)

6/25/06: TPR 4921 (proctored) - 7PS, 10VR, 10BS (27)
7/15/06: TPR 4931 (proctored)- 10PS, 11VR, 10BS (31)

7/29/06: AAMC 5R - 10PS, 11BS (didn't take verbal)
8/5/06: AAMC 8 (proctored) - 12PS, 11VR, 10BS (33) *Taken with a cold including having sniffles that probably annoyed everyone in the test center. By the second written essay, I was wiped!*

Hoping to increase my score by a few more points on the real thing...pretty please? 😳
