BAH. Worst part now is having one more semester at CSU for my undergrad degree! Walking through the CVMBS department is going to feel like a personal walk of shame. But I knew this was coming. >_< Ooooh well!

It's ok, it was honestly a reach, their OOS minimums are acceptable I mean what else can you ask for, but my GPA's are not up to par, I just wish they would of overlooked it since I'm at their graduate school, and I would be a resident by matriculation, but wishes are about as good as my GPA's.. 🙁

Hang in there though, you can always reapply when you are an in state student and then you'll have IS status and the chance to explain your GPA.

I have not even gone to the portal, the email was enough. Thank you Colorado for ruining Christmas, even though I knew it was a long shot, I was letting my imagination run away with me... and I was quickly brought back to reality. It will take a little while for the sting to go away. Ah well, now I have my sights set overseas...
side note: why don't they want any of us awesome people to come to their state. CO is like a very exclusive club, so hard to get into but once you're in, you're in for life. Maybe I will practice there someday!

Don't give up everyone! When I first applied I got rejected from Colorado and Davis, and waitlisted at Washington. Just stay determined and you'll get there 🙂

I, too received the dreaded "happy holidays!" thumbs-down from CSU last week. It was my first choice school, but I knew the odds of getting in weren't in my favor (at all), so while I was disappointed to be sure, it didn't sting as much as it probably did for some.

The silver lining? I'm a non-trad whose initial performance was downright abysmal. I took some time off, got my stuff together, and started over. My "new" GPA isn't bad, but my cumulative leaves something to be desired. The fact that they reviewed my application (warts and all) in October and still deemed me competitive enough for the "normal pool" gives me some hope that other schools might be willing to consider me in spite of said 'warts'.

I'm also assuming Tufts isn't interested, seeing as I haven't received an interview invite, and I wasn't particularly happy with some of the essays I submitted. (Major late-in-the-game writer's block there.) Also not unexpected.

Still waiting on Western, U of MN, and VMRCVM... !

I would say it is probably way too early to say about Tufts. I received an invite last year in mid-January (for the 2nd interview date), so unless things have changed significantly, wait until you receive a rejection before you reject yourself.

Yea, Tufts only sent out a few invites for an early interview date which was 12/17. The majority of the invites will be sent out in mid-January so I wouldn't count them out yet.

My major essay for Tufts was kind of horrific (IMO). It would be fabulous if they'd make an offer, as I love the campus and the area (I'm a Southern New Englander who doesn't particularly want to leave)... but I can't allow myself to get my hopes up on this one. It was such a long shot to begin with, and then... essay FAIL.

Good to know all hope isn't lost, though. 🙂

Seems you and I are in the same big boat...non-trad, crappy 1st go as an undergrad, time off, and then starting over. I've been knocking it out of the park since going back to school and my overall GPA has improved to "somewhat competitive" status. I was so disappointed b/c this was my 2nd app and rejection from them (CSU) and I'm IN STATE! Sherry did my file review last year and told me that I was "so close" last time, so it really stung to get the "thanks, but no thanks" email this year. I REALLY don't want to leave CO, but if Mississippi State decides they love me, then I'm packing my bags!
Sherry was one of my professors this semester, so hopefully she'll have some useful info and personal recommendations for me in my file review (that I will be sure to pass on to you guys)!
Oh, and if it makes any of you feel better, I've gotten a handful of emails from several profs that are very closely associated with the vet school and from several vet students at CSU that say the selection process this year was REALLY "weird". Not exactly sure what they meant by "weird", but it made me feel a little better...I guess. And absolutely NO offense to those that got in...I PROMISE!
