Don't be, he my brother... so we make fun of each other.

Sch81 or others... Do you know of other high-rise apartment complexes that might be even closer to the Broad St. Line? Perhaps deeper into CC.

http://www.apartmentcities.com/Philadelphia-Apartments/Center_City_Philadelphia_Apartments.asp

I remember using this a while back when me and my roommates were trying to get the hell off Broad street Junior year.

http://www.4wallsinphilly.com/centercity.htm

This is a decent one for looking at area apartments.

And craigslist, believe it or not, has a world of places for rent or people looking for roommates. Some are even affordable houses right on Fairmount Street and Spring Garden. Type in Center city apartments, or philadelphia apartments, a lot of stuff will come up.

My advice to somebody looking to shack up over here - find a roommate/roommates. It is that much sweeter paying 500 bucks in rent a month over the 800-1000 you're gonna be paying with a studio or one-bedroom apartment. There are a ton of people that need roommates, especially those listed in craigslist. Unfortunately that requires a lot of work on your part to find out if its a good environment while in school and if the people are normal individuals, which is never a given in this city.

Thanks! I really like the 4 walls website. I'll be looking for a roommate in the near future... 🙂

Anybody like beer? I need to find a good beer drinking buddy.

Class of 2011 here: you kids better watch out, Dental School will build your alcohol tolerance in ways you wouldn't believe.

PS. Summit Park is one of the best places to live... You'll end up close to all your classmates, have good study sessions together, and of course great drinking sessions... lol. Congrats to all of you and hope to see you at the Summit Park Party at the beginning of your school year.

Hey guys...

Are any of you familiar with the Septa Rail? I'm planning on living in the conshocken/roxborough/norristown area and taking the rail into the city....I know I'm going to be taking the norristown line but what's the quickest and safest way to the school after you get off the rail (i.e. bus, subway). Is it fairly common to take this route for a commute?

Happy New Year!

First day of the my last semester of undergrad starts today and I can't wait for it to be over. Time to go to Vascular plant taxonomy...

Wow....I did not think anyone other than myself would have to take that course.

I got my degree in Botany - had to take plant systemics/taxonomy, plant physiology and molecular biochem, and THE WORST - Plant Morphology/Anatomy :scared:

Goodluck

Subway or bus. I don't know where you get off but if its where I think it is (station right behind Temple's main campus) you just walk to broad and jump on either. The "C" bus runs up and down broad all day, every 20 minutes or so. Subways probably quicker, and on it you can meet new and exciting people.

Yeah, we need ONE botany course for our biology major. I'm pretty sure my eyes are gonna be bleeding from the boredom, but its gonna be worth it!!👍

How many of you guys/gals are married or close to it?

There is no set time frame. deposits are due by the 15th of January so I would assume another round of acceptances will go out after that. Unfortunately after the interview you just have to wait and hope.

Good Luck!!!

anyone attending from CA? 🙂

From CALI, San Francisco Bay Area!!!

Sweet! Just heard from Temple! I'M IN!!!

HEY! Congrats! I just saw! Temple and Tufts! WOW congrats! I bet that takes a load off. Poor Theo only had 2 interviews, midwestern and Marquette. Midwestern rejected him and Marquette, well you know that story.

I am kinda pissed that Marquette didn't take you guys. I bet that alot of those 35 ppl that accepted have double deposits so quite a few of them might turn down if they hear from other school. Hope you'll keep them in mind!

Congrats again!

Definitely, definitely, definitely!!! If I heard from Marquette I would have to do some serious meditation! As for now, I just have to wait for my other schools that haven't sent out 2nd rounders; UNLV & VCU, after that I'll be making a lot of big decisions. Good luck all of you who haven't heard yet!

hi guys

Where is it that everyone wants to live? And which part is center city?
I kind of want a place near Kornberg... but I've heard that most students live away from the campus.

Does anyone want to share a loft or something? Or is this the wrong place to ask?

I plan on living in center city - which is right in the heart of downtown. The school is just north of CC on N.Broad. Most students do live away from campus since North Philly is not the best area. For my lifestyle I am thinking that CC is the way to go...hop on the train, 10 minutes and I'm at school without having to transfer buses or pay parking fees and the expense of a car. I'll be taking a trip up there to look at places within the next 2 weeks, most likely a 1 or 2 bedroom condo or loft/studio.

Keep in mind that a lot of students typically live about 20 minutes away from school in Manyunk or Roxborough. They are pretty popular places among professional students, but a car is a must. Feel free to PM me and I can let you know what I find on my trip up. 👍

Also planning on living in Center City. I also need to plan a trip up there soon to take a look around.

We should form a "subway buddy" group that rides the train into school every morning....seriously...😀

That sounds like a good idea 😛 I'll be living in Center City too! 😀

dude, sign me in!

Does anyone know why Temple has no problem getting patients, but at Penn you have to go and solicit them? They both seem to be in needy areas . . .

Central city.... i was thinking that or summit park. i hear thats where a lot of kids live. Does anyone know if its professional students or many temple undergrads. Also, i heard its like "dorms" or atleast similar. is this true?

So, who wants to go in on a penthouse with me in Center City? We'd probably have to share rooms and use a den as a bedroom, but if we get enough people, it would be totally affordable! Am I crazy or could this work?😀

well I received an email from Brian yesterday saying i was accepted... I am stoked. I am from Cali, so philly is gonna be a crazy change. Anyway, I was also thinking of living in CC jus because it has more happening and it is closer to school. I am not sure yet tho, do any of u guys live in CC? how is it

A good friend of mine lives in Center City, and having been up there several times I love it. So much to do, and everything you need is in the area. To me, it's the cleanest and best part of philly - especially in the Rittenhouse area. For him, he takes the train into work so it's very efficient city living. After seeing how simple his life is with not having to deal with traffic/gas/insurance/car expense/parking headaches and fees, I want to have that luxury in dental school. Just take the train and go. Subway was a cool experience also, I enjoyed it!

does anyone know of apartments to look at in central city. Im looking more into it and think i may end up there.

I have been using several sources to research different apartments in CC:

www.4wallsinphilly.com

craigslist

philly apartment company

historiclandmarks.com

After speaking with an agent up there I plan on consulting someone from Philly Apartment Co - they can take you around to all the places that fit your needs/style/location.

From what I've read about on SDN, Penn doesn't seem to have a problem getting patients. There's a large patient pool for both schools. The difference I have seen is that Penn has less procedure requirements for graduation relative to Temple. I'm not sure though.. you should ask a Penn student.

Gimme a price, schnitzel. 😛

Masenasty, did you initiate the status request or BRIAN automaically sent you an acceptance email? My heart is beating faster than a Nascar as I am worried about my status.Does Temple sent a mail or an email acceptance? Please help me as I have heard nothing from them after my interview! Thnaks
