Center City is the place for you if you want to be without a car.

Partying in D school

ya i know, thats not my man focus but i want to know that i have options after studying for a test or having a stressful day that there is a few bars i can go to kick back!

thanks for the input

you should not be "drinking" and "partying" in dental school. This is the time to buckle down and get your life together. This is not undergrad anymore, where u can party with your "friends" and look for some "action" and all that other "stuff" you kids do these days. this is the real world. you people make me sick... Grow UP!

oh yeah btw, im really bored at work and was just kidding. ima live in CC and will be down to "rage"

i'm actually going to be visiting philly around june-july to look for housing, but first thing is first...gotta do financial aid :X

HAHAHA, My wife is from MN and we spent Thanksgiving in Wisconsin, the beaches were beautiful and I've never gotten so tan before. It really is gonna be hard for you to move away from that tropical paradise huh?

Paradise doesn't even begin to describe it.🙂

1 couch reserved!! Now i have to find a place and get a couch!! Speaking of financial aid, besides fafsa and the stafford loan, is anyone looking elsewhere? Any suggestions on scholarships and expense money??

yes a couch for me. Well where ever i live.... there will be a couch as well. Or at least a floor / possibly blow up mattress.

Is everyone here engaged, married and/or have children? Because this thread is starting to make me feel very young........😛:scared:

Whats everyones age?

I just turned 23

dude, my pong abilities are outta this world.... the belt is coming off buddy 🙂

oh hell no. imma gonna represent. We must have a big tourney when we all get in town.

Phew, its good to know that there are still people in their early 20s and not engaged with kids. I mean, nothing against the rest who do have families but it just makes me feel too young or unaccomplished.

I mean, like, in terms of Darwinian fitness and crap.

I can't wait to get to school, the next four years are gonna rock!

23 and single, btw. Also an artist, big into SCUBA (instructor and cave diver), and a bit of an audiophile/videophile.

any of you doing military scholarships?

🙁 Its too bad you guys, I can't drink. My tolerance is poor.

I can eat a considerable amount of wings, though. Especially when they're 35 cents each👍👍👍👍👍

I don't drink alot either, but I do appreciate good beer. I'd rather have a few that I really enjoy than alot of something that will make me sick the next day (which happens way too easily in my case). I've grown especially fond of blue moon lately, does anyone know if you can find that in philly?

Oh wow, Blue moon was the local favorite tap beer at my college town bar. They served it with a slice of orange atop of the plastic cup. Not sure about phillie.

😛 I'm just jealous hearing how everyone's going to party it out... I don't get to even crash on the couch or have a beer because I can't handle it nor get that wasted.😳

So lets hope we have lots of interactions w/ the hygienists =].

SCUBA huh? Free lessons =]. I have always wanted to become certified. We can barter, but honestly, i probably dont have any useful skills to barter with.

Military, well im thinking about the navy, but i probably will not do it. I figure my four after school I will be stingy and pay off my debt. I would much rather be stingy and still live like a semi-poor college student, than serve four years where maybe i would be stuck in a place i could not stand. Although i just talked with a navy recruiter two days ago and he said you can do amphibious missions w/ the marines and he mentioned i will be trained with a m4. Which was very very appealing to me. Hopefully i could carry one too =].

hmm where they brew blue moon is 15 minutes from my house at Coors. I will miss driving by and smelling the barley. I will be living in Iowa (okoboji) for the 3-4 months before school starts, so if i remember too, i will bring some blue moon out for ya guys, along with fat tire. Although it may be too tempting to have it sitting around for that long.

yes i actually had blue moon (on tap) in philly the night before my interview which was a horrible decision since i actually got drunk with buncha locals at some sports bar. I did not intend whatsoever to get drunk, but the bartneder and some local patrons kept buying me beers and i am not one to refuse free beer. Anyway by like 11pm i was actually drunk and I started freakin out. So I ran back to my hotel and starting drinkin gallons and water so i wouldnt be hungover in the morning. Honestly it was one of the most stressful drunk nights of my life... thank god i woke up and didnt yack during my interview👍

I was wondering if anyone was interested in getting 4 or so people together to rent a big place, like a townhouse in the manayunk area. I saw some of the so.cal. people were talking about a penthouse in central city, which I'd be down for if they don't mind an NC guy. I have a car and plan to show up with a 40" 120 hz hdtv with a ps3 (blu-ray!!) and 5.1 surround sound, if that entices anyone.

ouch, sounds like you handled yourself pretty well for a tight spot. I go to school in New Orleans and we just finished Mardi Gras, so I can empathize.

Man that is awesome. They sound like a great bunch of locals 👍

I'm considering a Navy scholarship right now... leaning towards taking it (if they offer it, of course). I'm gonna go on a trip with the recruiter in March to check out the facilities at Portsmouth VA and talk with some of the Navy dentists there.

That sounds cool to me... I'm probably gonna fly up there and check out different places.... but from what i've heard, Manayunk seems to be better suited for me. I wouldnt mind a big Tv in the living room either 😉 ha

I'd consider the penthouse.. maybe. Would you guys consider a female roommate?

I don't know. I think some of the prices around center city are okay, but most of them are expensive. I'm trying my best to find an all ultilities included complex with enough space for 1 person and few items, but it seems to me all apartments are around 300 bucks more than I'd like them to be per month, and too much room for a single person but at the same time being too small for 2 people.

I wish I could scuba. I can't even swim!

Im looking for a place in manayunk. One of my friends lives there so i think ill room w/ him. Im down to get a house though so we could have more people. That tv sounds nice =] We will have to get some digital cable, high def, tivo, the works.

Im fine with a female roomate, except with my experiences they usually have messy bathrooms (with the hair and all the beauty products). If your willling to live in manayunk i think thats where ill be.

😡 I'm not messy. 😛

Well, no I was thinking more of Center City because they're roughly the same cost, and living near the city would give me instant access to pretty much anything... Manayunk would mean that I need a car to get around. I can't drive....🙁

Right now my best source of hd is my blu-ray player, I need to look into what the local cable companies offer in philadelphia to make sure we can get all our sports in hd (especially abc, nbc, fox and other local stations).

and to bluejellybelly, of course I have no problems with a female roommate, in my experience its usually the females that have issues with rooming with males (we're messy) 🙂.

yeah understandable. My friend is in town today so imma gonna talk to him about where/ if he wants to live w/ me then ill let ya all know. Problem about CC is that i do have a car and will need one so i can go skiing, MTB riding, and other fun things. Oh to visit my friend in New Jersey to

yeah guys are more messy, except (i think) with the bathroom. Well actually i know some guys with very nasty bathrooms. I would rather live with a female that a guy any day though.

I have a very bad habit of studying in front of the TV. Ill just study during commercials... but i get the job done.

finding a clean male roommate is like finding a diamond in the haystack.

I don't put on a crap load of make-up or dye my hair or anything. My bathroom's always been clean.....

The only time I can't seem to take my eyes off the TV is when POST SEASON MLB is on. And admittingly, South Park. And maybe even Survivor... (I probably shouldn't have mentioned the last one, now no one wants to room with me because I have such bad taste)

ouch baseball huh? thats one sport i can do without. Go Rockies!!!! (wow what an embarrassment in the WS)

i do a pretty good job of cleaning up, every once in a while it gets a lil messy on my part... but thats because i HATE doing laundry. Well folding my clothes so i just leave my clean clothes in the basket =] and always wear wrinkly clothes.

I am doing the army scholarship. BTW I really enjoy SCUBA. We'll have to plan a trip to the Keys.

Can I say something? I love the Red Sox (and I'm from NYC!) but the 2007 Colorado Rockies were awesome. I wish they won but I gave up after game 3.

I think Todd Helton would've wanted it more than anyone else in the world. When I saw them win that 22 game streak I glued my eyes to the Tele.

I sure as heck hope we don't have many exams around postseason. 👎thumbdown👎thumbdown

i love how this acceptance thread owns all other acceptance threads... you Temple kids rule! Cant wait to study/party with you guys... and too quote my fellow classmates SDN name, Lets get ****ed up and die..... or dental, whatever floats ur boat

oh absolutely, I haven't been to the keys in ages, when I go diving in florida I usually go to the springs and cave systems, we need to get 5 or 6 divers together for road trip or something. I'm also sure there's lots of cold water diving in pennsylvania to be had if you can stomach 50 degree water... I'd have to get a dry suit.
