Masenasty, when did you interview/how long did you wait after your interview to ask Brian about your status?

penthouse center city.... we should check out some prices. Put up some fake walls (more rooms) etc.......

Center city looks about pricey. I mean, I would prefer space over location but right now, safety is my main concern. Last night, my brother's 2 phillie friends told me that his sister had an intruder in her house one night. Some guy tried broke in climbing the apartment fire escape to the 3rd floor. Yeesh. She had a gash in her head by the end of the night but he couldn't steal a dam thing.

Oddly enough, I'm not intimidated by phillie. I live in NYC, worked in some of the worst places, been to more "ghetto" places and the Temple hospital area seems okay too....

just called...accepted....brian is such a nice guy!

congrats!!! Brian is definitely awesome, he made me jealous i was not at temple

And he reads this!

p.s. Count me in on Center City too! I'll be apartment shopping sometime in the spring if anyone wants a male flat-mate. 😀

I just got the official package today, im surprised the turnaround was so quick... brian doesnt read these posts anyway, hes too busy working and doing temple stuff.... saying that though, he is perfect human specimen... flawless and immaculate 😎

congrats masenasty and everyone else. i just got my package today too. brian is a pretty cool dude even though he kept picking on me. any one noticed the "set time" in his office? =)

HI BRIAN.

You guys can check out DMDstudent.com too for things you will be doing in the future. Sign up for email updates too. (spam free - just a feed)

I will be living in center city... prob art museum area.

Congrats to all the Class of 2012 students. Anyone hear anything about Chestnut Hill as far as being a good place to live? I've seen a few apts. there that seem like good deals. I'm mainly looking for a place near the subway, even though I'll have a car, I don't want to fight the Philly traffic.

On another note, anyone here go to UCI or from the Pittsburgh area? Any hockey players out there? Sounds like there are some people out there who appreciate a good beer, nice, I like. For those not from PA, be prepared to have to buy beer in state stores that sell only 24 packs. Oh, and if you want wine or hard alcohol, you'll have to visit a separate store.

I graduated from university of cali Irvine.... i am finally moving out of my orange county bubble and moving to an older big city.

No 30packs? no 36packs? wierd, i guess that will limit my drinking, which is good? ... or increase my trips to the store. Probably the latter

im still attending uci. hey, you're not going to miss the orange county bubble mase?

of course i am going to miss all my friends and family, weather, surfing, beautiful people and relaxed atmosphere, but the truth is I will be in philly for min 4 years, so i try to be excited and optimistic about philly.... Regardless I will be right back in that bubble after my dental education, no freakin doubt in my mind. Southern California is my jam.

udonzilla, howd u like irvine?

i totally agree with you. i think Irvine is beautiful and a nice place to be at. not too busy and not too rural. i'm pretty sure philly is a great place to spend the next few years at but yeah, cali is the place to be.

that penthouse looks like a five bedroom to me. bedroom, master, den, dining room, living room???? You have the price. 3k/month??? seriously im down.

Oh yeah balcony too. 6th bedroom in summer. I have a few tents and space heaters.

I forgot, you can get 30 and 36 packs, just nothing smaller than a 24, which sucks if you want to sample a lot of quality beers like myself. As far as leaving the OC, I'm glad I'm out but I miss my friends as practically all of them live there or in the Inland Empire, but at least my gf is leaving LA to join me in Philly.

i'm from the OC/Inland Empire too man. Leaving for Philly also.

Hey! I graduated from UC Irvine also.

wait are you sure??? no sixers or 12pks? thats just plain stupid. that doesnt make sense to me

it's okay, I'll help out with the 24+ packs.

I can't go to the average store and get myself a 12 pack of beer? I am screwed :scared:

Looks like I will have to find myself a local watering hole.

You can buy 6 packs in some restaurants, but the prices are inflated. Coincidentally, you can also buy singles, tall cans and 40s there as well, but again, the prices are a bit inflated. There is talk in the state senate about allowing for cases smaller than 24 to be sold, but we'll see where that goes.

what beers do you guys drink?

i like: new castles, heinkens, and coronas

I like alot of different beers. For domestic, I like the seasonal beers for Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, Rogue, etc. There's also Yuengling, which is brewed outside of Philly in Pottstown and they make a tasty beer that costs about as much as Bud or Coors. It's also the oldest brewery in the US. I also like pretty much every Belgian and Czech beer I've ever gotten my hands on (except Starobrno, but that's not even sold in the US). I'll try anything, I just hate really watered down beer and light beers.

I just got in yesterday, or at least learned of my acceptance yesterday. Brian Hahn had told me that I was officially lableled "under committee review" after most from my batch of interviews had been accepted, so I had been kinda worried.

At any rate, I'm leaning towards temple over NYU, though if I get into my state school (UNC) tomorrow it might be a moot point...

that is exactly what i drink. i don't experiment much except for that elephant beer at yard house, it's called delirium i think.

That delirium tremens beer is good. Good name as well, it's named after the shakes that occur with heavy drinking.😀

i'm seriously looking forward to philly now. temple's great clinical program, small classes, and affordable housing and best of all great class mates to drink beer with. sweet

Alright, we know there are some guys from So. Cal here, where is everyone else from?

I grew up in Seattle, WA and I go to school in Utah.

I'm from North Carolina, though I went to high school in Alexandria, VA, and went to college in New Orleans. I'm looking forward to Philadelphia, I still wake up nights thinking about that cheese steak I had down on South Street.

Colorado born and raised. Went to school in colorado too. It will be good getting away for a while, but damn will i miss my skiing. Superfinger you ski... living in utah and all. ALTA has gotta be sick.

I hear Seattle has some great microbrews. I drink all beer, but anything dark is best. My favs are Reds, porters, and stouts. flying dog, deschutes (spelling?), new belgium brew, uhh yeah and all mentioned before. When are you guys going to move out to philly, 1, 2, 3 weeks before?

Most likely a month before school starts. I want to get adjusted to the area/lifestyle change.

I am from the San Francisco Bay area!! I also drink all kinds of beer. But if i really need to get going Patron does the job!!

this thread is funner than the NYU acceptance thread.

I'm In!! Thinking about living in Art Museum or Northern Liberties . . . anyone else in the Philly area right now?

Try cabo wabo. I think its much smoother than patron and don julio.

I'm from Tampa, Florida.... I can't wait to move up to Philly and get started. I'm probably gonna head up there in a couple weeks to look around at housing options.

Yes, skiing will be missed. I've been doing alot of it since I got in. 🙂

The Pocono mountains are pretty close to Philly.... they have some decent slopes. I'm sure it's nothing compared to out west... but still fun.

Also from Florida - grew up on the east coast by the beach, and went to college up at UF. I spent some time in Tampa doing some summer research at USF - St.Pete and Clearwater are nice areas for the beach as well! I use to do some killer inshore fishing out in the bay.

We will miss this weather!

We will miss this weather!
I know!! It's been so nice out the last few days. It's gonna be tough to adjust to the cold... but I guess we have no choice 🙂

Hey guys, I currently live in a 3 bedroom apt downtown in Rittenhouse Square and my two other roommates are moving out for various reasons. So I'm looking for two new female roommates if anyone is interested. Apt is 2 levels, both the rooms available are upstairs on 4th floor, one has it's own bathroom, the other is the largest bedroom. It's at 21st and Locust, 2 blocks from the park and an easy walk/bus ride to the subway. Right now we pay $580 for rent plus about $100/person in utilities. I can send pictures if interested. Lease starts August 1st. Email me at [email protected].

Yes, it is most unfortunate for a Wisconsinite to have to move away from the Frozen Tundra. I will surely miss those days when the temp starts out at like 23 F and ends at say -11 F with a wind chill of -35 F. Like you I have no choice.
