Dear Future Classmates,

I cannot wait till the middle of September to meet all of you 😍 , so let us start right now.

We have four difficult years ahead of us, but I truly want us to make those years the time of our life. Together, we can do well academically, serve people in need better, and (last but not least) have fun like there is no tomorrow 🙂.

We can get to know each other only so well on this fourm +pissed+ , but let us make the most out of it. After all, many probably know the strange feeling of meeting someone online or over the phone, creating a mental image of what the person might look like, and after face-to-face encounter being amazed how wrong you were 🙂. It is fun.

Congratulations again on making it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've obviously never spent a great deal of time in Davis. 😛
I'm really happy about getting in too and really looking forward to it. are you thinking about doing the summer pre-matriculation program? I probably will if I get in, but I might not because I'll have to move during that period of time.

Moskeeto, I had plenty of friends in Davis, and I visited them quite often. I know that the setting is not exactly New York style, but hey, so much more depends on people that surround you than on a place where you are at.

That program is not attractive to me at all. First of all, I am still recovering from the Spring semester, and in addition, I am working in a lab. I commited to it before I was accepted, and I have to keep my word even though the work is exhausting.

I really hope to do fine without the program. Why would you want to take it?

Also, have you found housing housing yet? How?

Finally, tell about yourself if you don't mind.

I just wrapped up housing yesterday. I'll be at the Tanglewood apartments next year. Its too expensive, but the options are fairly limited this time of year in Davis. But its close enough that I can get rid of my car and just ride my bike everywhere. I'm actually moving in with someone else on this board that got in (sup BB). chl.ucdavis.edu www.davis411.com and www.davisenterprise are the best places to look. also, check out the class board, someone else is looking for a roommate in the same complex. i had looked at a lot of different places, mostly renting a room in a house or 2 bedrooms because I thought it would be less stressful than to have too many roommates. Theres still some 1 bedrooms left in south davis, 800-900/month and some in upper central davis 750-780/month. I was starting to get a little freaked over the whole housing situation, so it was nice to finally close the deal.
Theres a couple of reason's I'd want to do the summer program. I think with all the application stress and knowing it was my last undergrad year, I REALLY didn't put my best into studying this last year, so a little kick in the butt would be nice. Also, i think it'd be cool to spend a few days getting to know my classmates in a closer environment. Thats the main reason, but i have to move out of my place on 6/8 and can't move in to my next place until 6/12, so i'll be homeless for awhile and that may make the program too much. sorry for the long post.

The longer the post the better 🙂.

Yep, meeting people in this program is definitely an exciting idea to me, but alas...

I was gonna look for housing in August, but may be I should start now...

Also, do you have any advice on the supplemental form for financial aid that they sent us? Is it better when parents help a lot or not?

I don't really know about the supplemental fin aid form, i do know that my aid is already listed on my financial aid page (cuz i did my undergrad here and already have an account), so i don't know if it makes that much difference.

August might be a bit late. Usually most of the leasing gets done in feburary/march. People actually camp out over night to get a shot at a lease somewhere. its pretty tough, i think theres a .07% vacancy rate. I would definitely start looking now, if you have any questions about places or the area feel free to pm me.

I'm in guys, I'm in!!!

Now I need housing! See you soon!

Congrats, UCSB!!
I look forward to meeting everyone in September too!

Mind if I ask what the admissions office told you when you originally called? As in where you were on the wait list? I got a favorable impression early on when I talked to Terri, but since then, other people have been annoyingly secretive and tight-lipped. I take it that this means there still is movement in the class, which is good.

what up kids. 🙂 i'm new here but i'm going to davis come fall as well. it's going to be a wild ride i'm sure. yay davis. 😀

Thought I'd give this a bump and then watch it quickly disapear into the abyss.

Anyone up for some good old-fashioned cow tipping? How about a good 'ole game of horse shoes?

Hello all,

I just got accepted off the waitlist, and am very excited about Davis. Does anyone need a roommate or know of a good place to stay?

I am still doing pre-meds, but my husband and I lived in Davis for 5 years. He lived in Tanglewood for a year. Then we were in married housing. My husband coached softball and attended school there, so we know the town well. I also grew up 1 hour from Davis.

Anyway Congrats to you all and if you need some help in the Davis area give me an e-mail.

Again Congrats,
Michelle

all the best guys. Medical school is all about learning how to save
lives and much more. ALL THE BEST.😉

I'm still looking for housing, too...sucks huh?

UCSB,
Are you looking for a roommate? I've been looking online at the roommate lists in Davis, but I would really prefer to have a first year med student as a roommate.

I am looking for a roommate and housing in Davis too, and like jammin_g I would like to live with a medical student. I was there over the weekend and found some sweet places. As soon as I can find a roommate, I will be ready to get one of these places or another place right away.

P.S.: UCSB, congratulations!

Which schools did you guys turn down in favor of UC Davis?

UCSB or gloves,

let me know if you're interested in getting a place together. I'd be totally down. I think i'm pretty easy to get along with, and I think housing with classmates would be beneficial in many ways.
