Karine04 said:I'm pretty sure it was the beginning of January. I interviewed Dec. 9 heard maybe the second week of January (but I was accepted pending space, because the class was already full. I think some of the people who interviewed with me were accepted).
Karhu said:i was accepted at the end of january. i should remember the date b/c it was one of the greatest days EVER...but i don't. i interviewed jan 13 and found out soon after. anyhoo...still haven't received my freaking packet!! OCD is rearing its ugly head.

i'm up in biddeford today looking at apartments, and there are about 15 kids here interviewing...but....the school was closed today (saturday) due to snow! poor people!!
off to the apartments!
🙂
wish me luck!
Karhu said:i know i know, we never have to take the MCAT again...yahoo! but i just wanted you all to know that we are now part of history! we can now say 'remember when the mcat was on paper?' b/c they are chaning it all to computer based testing in 2006-2007. the total time of the mcat will be changing from 8hrs to 5hrs! what???!!! now we can all sound like old people..."back when i took the mcat we sat for 8hrs and had to use PENCILS!" haha. just wanted to all to know this unimportant info.
NavDOman said:Hey all - On the mailings - I went up this past week and they said they will be sending out info packets and whatnot over this next week (while UNE is on spring break, so the office has time to get stuff done). They realize they're behind but will be putting things out shortly.
So it's impossible to live without a car huh? Well I HAD a car until I rolled it yesterday on I-90... Passenger and I survived, but explorer is totaled 🙁
Guess I get to go car shopping huh? 😳
So a computer MCAT huh? I'm just pissed it's gone from 9 hours to 5 - WEAK!
Lastly - congrats to everyone getting in before UNECOM filled!

a commodor64 to play games on.
an Attari system.
Calculators were not allowed in math class.
Computers where DOS format. c:/ dir
Internet was soooo slowwww and there was very few websites.
OOohhh remember when the remote control on a tv has a cord.
I am sure this can go own for a while. Especially with people older than me (I am 27).

docmz said:i just turned the weeee age of 23 🙂
my visit to UNECOM was great. it was so nice to walk through the doors and know that i was an accepted student. they got soooooo much snow while i was there. it actually is making me consider selling my little kia and buying something with AWD or 4 wheel drive. the apartment i signed is on a pretty steep street and i'm worried that once the snow flies i might be strapping on my snowshoes to get to class.
if anyone is looking for an outdoor adventure while you are looking for an apartment in biddeford, check out ferry beach state park. it is a great snowshoe or ski in, directly to the ocean. mmmmm nothing like an ocean breeze to make you realize you will be living in a state entitled "vacationland"
4 months and counting!!! 😀

23!!! WOW That is not bad. You will be able to put 35year + in to the profession.
Well that is too bad! Yeah do a good job with your PhD and come to UNE next year. It was probably a hard decision to make. But kudos for making it. We will all miss you this year. See ya around next year - we'll show you around. By the way - how did you go about deferring? How did they deal with it?docbill said:Hi EVERYONE.
I can 't believe this thread has been silent for more then 24 hours. You guys have to beat DMU2009. They are the only ones with a higher number of threads.
BTW.. I have some sad news to report to you all.
I will not be starting Medical School with you guys (Class of 2009)
Instead, I have decided to start with the class of 2010.
This is mainly to complete my PhD doing a proper job and not sloppy $hit.
Also my SO, will be able to finish her degree and move with me.
One more year would give me some time to rest a bit/ travel to a few countries (Europe/Middle east/hopefuly Australia or Japan) and get refreshed before starting intensive medical school. I know that once I get started.. there is no break for 10 years 😱
Over the next year.. I will also try to some money saved up to pay my tuition. Hopefuly apply for residency status in the US.
I hope you guys won't mind me coming and posting here every now and then.

anyone receive UNECOM mail lately? i did get the letter about two weeks ago but was anxious to see something else with that fabulous return address. oh yeah, and does anyone have a palm pilot or looking to get one that they will/are using? any suggestions?
NavDOman said:Yeah - I just got a big packet - includes computer requirement info, some stuff on housing, roommate forms if you want to try and find one, advanced standing paperwork, and a really nice welcome letter...
On the palm pilot - this may change in medical school (and probably will with my luck) but I've used one in the past and you try it out for just a little bit and then never use it again - just hard to get in the habit and post-it notes are so much easier... I'm sure I'd use it more though if I had internet access on it - so that's my advice (get one with wireless capability).
momo7430 said:Hi everyone,
I haven't gotten the BIG packet yet either, just the financial aid award letter. Yikes the debt! Anyway, I have a palm pilot too, but it's the same thing you guys said... it's more of a pain to carry and put all the data into. Much easier in my experience to keep my trusty planner with my scribbles on paper. But, I have seen some cool stuff that you can downlaod which will be useful for us all at some point... like pharmacology sites like the "PDR" (physicans desk reference) and things like "Diagnosaurus" which gives diagnosis and differential diagnosis info, etc. I don't really forsee using it much until absolutely necessary... maybe if it were voice activated! that would be cool. I never seem to get the scribble to = the letter I wanted on the first try 😡 it's pretty frustrating.
Anyways, hope you all are doing well and having more patience than me! I am just dying for July to get here! 😀
Take care!

UNE2009LMD said:I haven't received the packet yet but I can't wait to get it! I did get my financial reward letter already! yay! 🙂 So that's taken cared of....
As for the palm pilot situation, I completely agree. I own a palm pilot but used it for only 2 wks. Now, it just sits in my closet doing nothing for me.It's so frustrating to use that 'magic freakin' doodle' pen to type out a simple mssg. It takes me 3x faster to write my notes on paper than store it on a palm. have a good one everyone!
August 1 Orientation...about 4 months,a few days and counting 👍
jonb12997 said:if you like your computer, and it runs fine, and you can get wireless internet (you might need to buy a wireless card) then keep your computer and use it as long as possible... you can always get a new one part way through the year or next year, but just save they money they give you, the longer you can wait, the better a computer you can buy with your money... at least that's my opinion. congrates everyone once again... looking forward to seeing you all in the fall
sappdog said:Hey everyone - I got the "packet" today. That was a very descriptive letter from Dean Kelley, very nice too. I have not recieved a financial aid packet yet.
I have workitis too. I just work and think to myself that soon, very soon I will be "working" at something that I will totally enjoy. I can't wait to start! I think I might come up and get a place sometime soon... Right now I can fly from ATL to Portland for $103!
How are you guys looking for room mates? I now I will need one... financially it is so much smarter.
