To answer your question WD, I'd guess that your individual performance in medical school will have a much more significant impact on your ability to match to the east coast than any slight difference between the two schools. Go where you'll be happy and best able to do well... Hopefully that's Michigan! 👍

The line was crazy. Plus, I was already drunk from that one beer, so I had to go home. I think someone asked me where I was from based on the hand (map of MI), and I couldn't point it out. 😳

I have a few friends who are at UCLA Med and they really really enjoy it. California's just a great place to be [I went to Stanford for UG, but I'm coming to UMich for med school - if only the colors weren't Cal colors 😉]. The Westwood area is really nice - you'll never run out of things to do (I think it's a bit pricey though), and there are tons of great restaurants. But traffic is horrrrible, and I'm sure there are other downsides that may or may not be important to you.

You're sittin' pretty with either school...so have fun this weekend and enjoy the weather! And ask yourself...how important is it for you to maintain a lovely shade of bronze?

How important is it to go to all of orientation? I got accepted into an internship that requires a certain period of work time, and it looks like they might overlap a bit. Does anyone know what goes on during the week?

Also, as far as UCLA vs Mich is concerned, at Mich you'll have to deal with a lot fewer Californians... this could be a plus or minus depending on your perspective 😀

In a month, I'm moving back to Michigan for the summer to bum around at my parents' before I move into my 'ghetto' Island Drive apt...if people are in the area, we should all definitely get together and hang out! 🙂

I'm confused...are you talking about *my* outfit? That's so nice of you! I think that's the most dressed up I've been in months (minus med school interviews). Around here, I'm known as looking 'sporty', which means I'm too much of a bum to change out of the workout clothes that I wear 24/7. Just call me Sporty Spice!

I won't wear it until I'm sure I'm going to Michigan, but assuming I do, I plan on wearing it under my graduation gown next Saturday. I wonder if the green and white gown mixed with the maize and blue shirt will cause a violent explosion 😕 😀

My sister, wife, stepbrother, likely my younger sister, and 99% of my friends attend(ed) Michigan State. My family has learned to hate Michigan. This isn't going to end well.

well, i couldn't come to second look. had to be at a friend's wedding. but, my wife and i did pass through ann arbor on our way home on sunday. and i bought a michigan medical shirt at steve and barry's.

that's a pretty strong commitment, i think, or i just wasted $8. (we also bought a michigan beanie cap for our baby. she will be born in july at ohio state university medical center - boo - and they'll put an osu beanie on her head in the nursery, something i cannot allow.)

I will be in Ann Arbor for nearly all of the summer. I have to work for a few months to earn some $$$ to travel. I'm definitely up for some group activities before school starts.

I have an apartment! I signed the lease today. Huron River Plaza, near Phi Chi.

Congrats on the apartment. I sent in my security deposit on an Island Drive apartment so I am really excited about that. I may be in Ann Arbor a little early myself for the the pre-mat program so group activities would be great.
