At first i thought that was "April 2009" and thought that you were just really, really trying to be fully prepared for your interview.

The interview day is pretty short, and consists of only a tour/lunch and an interview. Your interviewer will be announced to you on the day you arrive, and could be any of several physicians and faculty members. The interview is extremely low-key, and the point is to get an idea of who you are that doesn't show up on paper.

It lasts about 45 minutes or so, and begins with a file review, where you can explain any discrepencies or faults in your numbers. You will also be asked to elaborate on your EC's and such. For example, I worked as a cardiology tech, and I was asked what my typical day involved. The interviewer has spent a good amount of time with your application and will have questions specifically tailored to you, based on your ap.

The interview is extremely conversational, and there is nothing there designed to "trip you up." Be relaxed (but not too relaxed, because I probably came in with the mindset that it would be more low-key than it was.) Good luck, be yourself, and definitely review all your application materials before you interview!

Hey does anyone know if the assistant dean is the one who makes the decision about who to take off the waitlist or does the adcom make the decision?

Does anyone know if they will mail stuff out regarding acceptance/waitlist even if you never called in (lack of time, nerves, etc.)?

Someone said that they already received their packet, so maybe they have already been sent out?
 
Recieved my packet yesterday (Tuesday) - but I live in Ann Arbor.
 
Hey guys, I was accepted on Feb. 28th, but haven't gotten my letter yet. Is this a problem? Should I contact them? I live in the metro detroit area (near Auburn Hills), so I'm not sure why it would take so long for me to get my letter...

I wrote this somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but I definitely plan to write a Letter of Interest. Who do I really address it to? The Dean?
Just like everyone else, it may not help to write one, but I would feel better about myself if I did. 🙂
 
I wrote a LOI last year (well an email) to Dr. Silas Norman. His response was to just wait for the committee's final decision (this was after the initial decision to put me on the waitlist).

But I contacted my interviewer first, who directed me to Dr. Norman. So I would suggest contacting your interviewer to see who to direct the LOI to.

Thanks for the info. I took it under advisement, but then ended up writing a Letter of Interest to both my interviewer and to Dr. Norman. I wrote actual paper letters, though I don't know if this will make a difference. Without kowtowing, however, I basically restated my sincere interest in Wayne, as well as gave them an update of the classes I'm taking now. We'll see if this makes a difference...We're halfway to March 28!

Really hope they will be able to squeeze me into the end of March decision.

you'll definitely get the march decision... it was only backed up in december and january because of all the monday holidays. You in-state? Mind sharing your stats?

Unfortunately I am not instate, I think that will work against me. However, I am really interested in the school. I love its dedication to helping the area, and of course cant forget its amazing clinical exposure.

My stats are mediocre at best. 32 MCAT 3.5ish gpa 3.6ish BCMP. Im excited to visit, and definitely opted for the tour. Im hoping the MCAT helps since they seem to like above avg MCAT scores. I guess we will see, for now anxious and excited.

has anyone recieved a financial aid package yet?
 
Hey all, I got waitlisted on February 28, and I was just wondering if people are generally accepted off the waitlist before May, or if most movement is after May 15. Thanks!

i do know that someone was accepted off the waitlist before May 15th.

Are y'all getting geared up for the next offer round? It's coming up soon! I don't know if I should be too hopeful since I already got waitlisted, but hey it gives me something to think about... 😀

I will go into it with the same mindset that I did last time.
I will assume that I am still on the waitlist, and if I'm accepted, it will be an awesome surprise. 🙂

(Interviewed 1/22, Waitlisted 1/31, Still on the Waitlist 2/28.)

fin aid: last week
 
Last year I got my financial aid package without an acceptance. I pretty sure that it just depends on when you completed your FAFSA.

I completed late Feb (this year) and haven't heard anything from them yet. I don't remember how long it took last year - but I want to lean towards a month or two.
 
Does anyone remember how many students do they put on the WL and how many are offered a spot?

I just withdrew from Wayne State. It was the hardest letter I ever wrote. Thanks for being my first WAYNE STATE 😍

Anyways, I am a Canadian. So I suggest all those waitlisted Canadians give Wayne a call next 'call-in day'. You might be the one who just got rewarded 😀
 
Wednesday's getting awfully close...I'm surprised not to find much activity in this thread

Ugh, just got an email stating that the committee wasn't able to get to my file. Well I have another month to wait then 🙁. At least they were nice enough to tell me in advance.
 
I got the email too... I can't believe they are making us wait a whole MONTH longer!! 🙁
 
I can just anticipate *still* being on the alternate list. Bah!
 
gosh i hope tomorrow works out for all of us!
I so want to go to Wayne!
