Official: Yale Med Countdown!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I spoke with Mr. Silverman today. Letters will be sent out in the early part of next week (I read: Mon thru Wed). They take the mail directly to a post office, bypassing the Yale system, which means maybe a day saved.

Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the information, acab!
Now hopefully it won't be waitlist city for me again. 😳

acab,

thanks for the info!

acab you're awesome. you know i'm pulling for you on this one.

For any MSTP applicants out there, phone calls seem to be going out as of last week. I've received congrats emails from a few profs there already. Perhaps it's okay to call to find out decision info now...

Let me know if anyone else got some good news and is considering Yale MSTP.

Good luck to all!

Congrats stanford girl.

Does anyone else know when the pony express leaves New Haven, CT?

Thanks absolutezero. I wish we'd be classmates there.

Good luck all. I have a small PO box, so I shouldn't have any issues getting my 37 cent posted envelope on thurs...

👍

Could you be any more phenomenal? Thank you so much. I have been so antsy about finding out. Good luck to you and everyone! 😀

Best of luck to everyone - Hopefully everyone on this thread will receive a big fat acceptance envelope sometime this week!

thanks for the info acab. does anyone know if e-mails will be sent out along with the mail or if it's just snailmail???
good luck everyone!!

I think last year accepted candidates got e-mails. Didn't someone post a copy of last year's as a joke? But who knows if they e-mail you the day your letter goes out or wait until Weds...anyone have better "intel?" 😉

Last year I got the waitlist email. I got it the same day and time that the accepted people got their emails (according to people posting on SDN). In the email, it said I would be receiving a letter in a few days. Sure enough, it was a couple of days later that I got the letter in the mail.

i just called and they said letters are going to the post office at 2 pm today.

Like I need another reason to check my e-mail every minute... 😉

Anyway, good luck everyone! You all sound super-qualified so maybe we'll see each other in the Fall! 😀

i just called 5 minutes ago and the lady who picked up was extremely vague stating the same..."letters will start being sent out this week and till the end of the month on a rolling basis depending on when they get admissions decisons for specific people". also, she said no e-mails were being sent...only letters. huh???? i am confused here especially with nq's post above. i guess this is like last year's yale thread where the people got e-mails but were told from the staff outright that no such e-mails would be sent out. for what it's worth to us overanalyzers, the staff member i spoke to was an "older" sounding woman; perhaps a different staff member answereed NQ. anyway, i hope we can get some feedback from yale sooner than later..... good luck everyone!!

I have a feeling no matter how many times someone here calls the adcom and pesters their poor secretaries that you all, like me, will be checking email and snail mail as often as possible the next few days. (Not a criticism... if not for the posters here I'm sure I would be calling as well)

Anyways, sincere good luck to all! With some luck, this will all be over soon... (God save me from third tier waitlists)

unless you called the mstp office too, you're probably right. i haven't gotten any calls from my good buddy jj at yale, so i took the initiative to call them.

nope, just called the regular md office (the # on silverman's card). anyway, i guess it's just wait time now. again, best of luck to everyone!!!!!!

Where do you get such info? Is there somewhere online that this can be accessed (and for other schools as well)?

Cheers

wow, what a list!! certainly makes me drool.....

good luck with everybody.

That is a very impressive match list ... 😍

I think I set a new world record for number of times I checked my e-mail in one day today! 😛

I am a first year at Yale. Copies of the '04 match list were handed out to anyone who wanted them immediately after the envelope opening ceremony. My friends at HMS got copies of their list the same way. I dunno about other schools.

By the way, for those of you who end up getting in and have questions about Yale, please feel free to PM me.

Good luck!

Please let me get in. Yale is definitely where I want to go. During your interview did you guys say "let me in" or whatever in the center of that old surgical room in front of the library?

hahaha. if i didnt believe in God i would have done so. i had two choices at that point. to either rely on superstition or God. i decided on the latter. but i was thinking what if they have like a hidden camera to see who said something in the middle of the room so they could see who was desperate enough to get in?? haha. no matter. i am praying to my Father in heaven for this acceptance.

That was really cool! I loved the faculty/student interaction. I spent the night at the dorms, and they were having a student party where the faculty bartended. They just seemed so open to actual learning. Competition was reserved for sports and games.

There is already a thread for this purpose. Can we keep this one a bit more secular, please.

I second that motion

does applying early decision to yale increases chances of getting in?

According to schools, applying ED doesn't increase your chances, rather eases the anxiety of waiting so long ... assuming you get in. The statistics don't bear this out though. It shows there is a slight, yet significant advantage.

Good luck everyone! Since I am in NY, I hope to hear tomorrow. :scared:

Just to let you all know. I called today and they said that letters were being sent out as decisions came in from the committee. That letters would be sent out neraly every day for at over a week and in no particular order. It's all determined by the what decisions the committee makes on a given day.

--Rager1

Does that mean e-mails aren't going out? It'd be difficult to e-mail everyone together if the letters arent' going out at the same time...

I think the Yale ppl are just making stuff up when we call, though I don't know why they feel the need to be so sneaky...😛

I second calling Am Intl. I feel like my life is on hold until I know. Bleh. Oh well, good luck everyone!

official: friend just heard via mail was waitlisted....so they're coming....

Thanks for the news, bongsen. Where does your friend live?

wow...guess things are starting to roll....good luck everyone!!!

my friend actually goes to yale, so that's why it came so fast (probably arrived yesterday I am thinking and was put in the po box here the next day).

So I just want everyone in this forum to know.... I was not anxious at all about the YSM final decision letters until I read this thread. Now I am going crazy with the rest of you... :scared:

yeah..i've been bit by that bug too. ridiculous how many times i check e-mail. i think i'm gonna take my late lunch break to go check my snail mail now. 🙂

I wonder how many tiers this waitlist is...I just got my waitlist letter this afternoon 🙁

I'm on the High Waiting List, if that means anything...

Hey Bongsen --- Sorry to hear about the waitlist, but the High Wait List is definetely a good thing. Rumor has it, at least on this thread, that most of the High Waitlist gets in.

By the way, does your letter specify what tier you are on in the waitlist?
