I completely understand how you feel. I just found this website yesterday, and have been obsessed (with the phone and computer) ever since!

Got my interview invite for 12/14. So ready for this!
Well had my interview today!
I would strongly suggest practicing for all the questions EllieG posted earlier from the workshop she went to. I had questions about current events, my life goals (where I see myself in 5 years), problems vets currently face, and questions about how you handle stress, tough situations etc.
The good news is, it really wasn't as bad as I remember from previous years (this is my 3rd interview), the people I interviewed made it very easy on me and I felt at ease talking with them.
Good luck everyone! Hope this helps a little!
Is it completely crazy that I'm sitting here at work and willing my phone to ring with an interview at OSU? Can you picture a 32-year-old woman sitting in her cubby, squeezing her eyes shut and thinking, "They will call. They will call. They will ..." I feel like the Little Engine that Could.
And since misery loves company...
Sadly, being OOS, I've just about lost all hope. I wish they would either call or move my status to 'denied' so I can stop living on the edge! But, from what I'm understanding, the 'limbo cycle' may go on until January!!
I agree 100% with catvet. And relax- take a deep breath and be you! I was utterly terrified this morning and barely slept last night. But it must have gone well because my interviewer just called me about 30 minutes ago and offered me a seat in the class of 2015. I can't believe it. I'm going to vet school! Best of luck to all you OSU hopefuls! It's an amazing place!Well had my interview today!

G2D: I so wanted to shriek my SDN name across the room but everyone was so polite and quiet that I didn't think it would be appropriate. The two girls I sat with today were so nice, so if you were one of them I want to thank you for putting me at ease. The way I was fidgeting pre-interview alone was an indication of my nerves and it was nice to meet some new people. I sincerely wish you the best of luck and would be honored to be your classmate some day! 🙂CONGRATS!!! That is fantastic!!! And now that I see your location, I'm thinking I was sitting with you for a fair bit today😉!
Anyway, I'll second what the others have been saying... I felt mostly comfortable during the interview and think it went fairly well. But the more I think about some of my responses, the more I worry! I suppose that is natural though. I was glad I had thought more about some of the questions listed here, as they did come up in one form or another.
Good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews! I really loved the campus and was really impressed by so much of what I saw! But no phone call here... so I'm hoping I will be one of those "pending" applicants they spoke of who will find out in January!
Oh geez. I never thought anyone would ask me for advice. Here's a minor piece- Be yourself. Really. It sounds idiotic and kind of ridiculously simple but you are there for a reason. Relax and really take a moment to remember a time in your veterinary experience when you were like "Wow, this is where I am supposed to be. This is what I am supposed to be doing." I did that right before I went in and I came out smiling. You CAN do it. Yes, you're nervous, and, no, you don't know everything but who does? Finally, a piece of advice from Joe Paterno (I can't help it, I'm still a Penn Stater for another year!)- "Believe deep down in your heart that you are destined to do great things". And you are! Hang on to that feeling and don't every let anyone try to take it from you! No amount of studying for an interview or worrying about the impression you'll make can replace that passion and joy! Ugh, that's so gushy but I believe every word. I'm rooting for all you guys! Good luck! 🙂Congrats!!! That is so extremely exciting! I'm really not sure what to do with my nerves...I'm just so freaked out!! Since you're good to go, do you have any important tips for the rest of us, besides the general stuff? So excited for you and I hope I'll be joining you in the fall!!

Yay! It was you! New friend! Yay!!!!!Yep, pretty sure that was me! 10:30 interview? Arrived more than an hour early? I was the one from Colorado sitting on the couch before the interviews (I think I was in the chair next to you later). Likewise, I really enjoyed meeting the interviewees and current students (you were all so nice!), and would love to be your classmate! We were all pretty fidgety beforehand (and I let out that huge sigh that everyone heard... oops! 😳), but really we shouldn't have been so nervous after all!

Let's see. They asked the notorious 'tell me about yourself" to start. Then about a time when I needed to solve a problem/ use leadership skills/ and how I cope with stress. The rest of the questions were about my research and me personally. Also, there was one convenience euthanasia question. Be honest, there's no right answer. Oh! And he asked me about current events pertaining to zoonotic diseases- I couldn't think of anything but rabies and fortunately my professor recently discussed the rabies breakdown by county for PA. I can't think of anything else right now! 🙂 hope this helps a littleThank you for that =) It really does help. So did they ask a lot of the questions (or similar) to the ones that I heard in my workshop? Were there a lot of questions tailored specifically to you? Did they go off on tangents? As in, asking you a question and then forming other questions from your answers? Sorry for all the questions, I just figure you're probably a good person to ask =) Anyone else who interviewed today who wants to chime in, I'd love to hear your take too if you're comfortable sharing!
Congrats to GRG and best of luck to everyone else who interviewed today!! Quick question about the insta-acceptances: Do they only do that for OOS applicants or has anyone heard of them calling IS applicants with an acceptance right after the interview?
Last year a guy I worked with got a call with an acceptance like two days after he interviewed and he was IS.
So, when people mention "current events" do they mean current events specific to vet med? This may sound pathetic, but I gave up watching news broadcasts many years ago b/c they were so depressing. It definitely made me feel better about life.
To prepare for the interview, is there anything anyone recommends other than the obvious (checking out JAVMA, and news from OSU's website) in order to be up on "current events?"
Its only for OOS applicants, and even then only like 5% of acceptances are instant. If you are OOS and you dont get a call dont worry, most people dont right after their interview.
That means, way to go golden! Hope you loved OSU (I know I do!)

Not true. I was accepted at my interview and I am in state.
I always just check dvm360.com it is very useful for current events..

YES DR. GRIEL! He's awesome and a huge inspiration. This is my second course with him so far and I love it! 🙂Dr. Griel, I'm assuming? For his epidemiology of disease course? :-D If so, that course and his ethics course probably got me into vet school.
Congratulations, fellow Nittany Lion! Isn't it the greatest phone call ever? I hope to be seeing you around next year! And to the rest of you who have yet to interview, good luck!

Squibby- I wore a long black dress coat and had outside shoes with me. I left my coat and shoes down in the foyer of VMAB while I interviewed. Maybe just ask one of your new friends to keep one eye on your stuff. Other people took their coats and bags up with them. I wouldn't worry too much about it as they seemed understanding. For those who have already interviewed, how much are you outside for the tour? It suppose to be snowing and im trying to figure out if I should wear warmer clothes in the morning and just change before my interview, or if its mostly inside and I will be ok in my suit. Thanks

Whew, finally got back from my interview day... a nice 6 hour drive, though fortunately I beat the snowstorm coming back 🙂
Just kind of repeating what other people have said, the interviewers are really nice. I felt like I was going to be sick right before I had my interview, and as I walked up to introduce myself they were both very cheerful, nice, and joked around a little bit. It really helps your nerves. I ended up feeling very comfortable throughout my interview and the time flew by. So don't stress out about the interviews too much. Just be yourself, be honest, and you'll be perfectly fine.
We were only outside very briefly for the tour, just to walk from the VMAB to the teaching hospital and back, which are really right next to each other, so it was only about a minute outside. If you bring a coat you'll probably be perfectly fine.

Yay woodinator!! You survived!Whew, finally got back from my interview day... a nice 6 hour drive, though fortunately I beat the snowstorm coming back 🙂

I too felt like I was going to puke right before they called me up.
I just wanted to wish everyone interviewing tomorrow good luck and safe travels!! I know the weather is supposed to be pretty bad, so remember to give yourself as much extra time as you can and BE SAFE!! I'm heading down to Columbus tonight so I can take my time driving. I just keep saying to myself "No blizzard! No blizzard! No blizzard!" I look forward to meeting you guys tomorrow!!
I don't think they mentioned those stats. I could be wrong though. The admissions presentation is virtually the same one that is posted on the website from last year with maybe a tidbit or two (like the orientation dates) updated. http://vet.osu.edu/education/incoming-classGood luck! Most of the terrible weather is supposed to be up here in NE Ohio so once you get down into Franklin County you should be alright.
Another question for those of you who have already interviewed-during the admissions presentation, did they tell you any application stats from this year? How many people applied in total, IS vs. OOS, etc?

does anyone know where the curriculum for the DVM program is on the OSU website? I can't find it anywhere
