Hey guys! Congrats on starting vet school! When I started school, i bought way too many books and I paid way too much money. So I wanted to share my thoughts on books so hopefully you won't be in the same situation as me.
I wanted to let you know that you will not need any books for cell bio, ethics (not sure if you have that class fall or winter), or radiology. Everything you will need to know will be taught in class. With that being said, the radiology book is excellent and will be a recommended book for many more classes and I plan on keeping mine as a reference hopefully for a long time. Also, medical dictionaries are pretty much useless mainly because you can just go online (if you have a PDA, i would highly recommend buying a PDA version only). For anatomy, I highly recommend the color atlas of the dog and cat and the dissection guide. I used both many time to study when I couldn't make it to lab the night before, and it's pretty hard to dissect w/out the guide. If you have some extra money, the Dyce book is also really good. The best part of that book is that it has all the species for the entire year and is a great reference book although not enough pictures. For pasquini, it's a great book but as you will hear in class it contains errors so be careful if you only study out of that book. For histology, make sure you buy Wheater's. It will make you life so much easier! I also bought Bacha, and to be honest I never opened it once.
There's my opinion on books. Hopefully it will be helpful to someone.
