Hello! I have been lucky enough to receive a few acceptances and am now in the process of narrowing it down. (I think) I'm interested in a pediatric subspecialty or orthopedics. Any guidance is greatly appreciated!
Ohio State
Pros
USF Morsani
Pros
Haven't gotten any financial aid/scholarship packages yet so finances could change, but just want to get a sense before March/ April. Also as an aside, if I was dead set on pediatrics I know which school I pick wouldn't have much bearing, but since Im not and USF didn't have anyone match ortho last year it kind of concerns me.
Ohio State
Pros
- Higher rank
- P/F preclinical (still ranked tho if I'm not mistaken)
- Low COL
- Qualify for in-state tuition after first year
- Lived in Florida my whole life so it might be cool to live elsewhere for a bit
- great match list
- my mom visits Columbus regularly for business so I would get to see her at least once every couple of months
- out of state, so far from family
- after reviewing the cost of tuition and cost of living (roughly) it will be about 40K more (total, so 10k each year)
- cold
USF Morsani
Pros
- In state, so closer to family (who are in Orlando)
- Much better weather
- Lower tuition
- lived near Tampa when I was really young so it might be neat to go back to that area
- High COL
- High SOAP rate (or so I've heard)
- students tend to match at USF or HCA hospitals
- HP/PC/P/F grading scale and ranked
