My understanding based on what happened last year, the schedule for this year, and what I've read here is this:

Last year they had four days of interviews for the first round. I don't know how they were allocated or whatever - four days is the important point.

This year, round one is only three days long, and if I understand correctly the first day (November 30th) is only for MD/PhD applicants, which means there are only two days for the rest of us.

So... long story short, I, and several others in this thread, will hopefully be interviewing January 11th or so.

Yeah, the first day isn't just md/phd. I was just letting you know that some regular applicants would be displaced by these people.

So does OU not have any interviews between the first 3 days and the second round in January? Or are there some in between Dec 3rd and Jan 11th?

My wife checked the mail today...

And I got an invite for an interview on January 13th! 😀 👍 🙂

Also... according to the OU Pre-med office there are no interviews between December 3rd and January 11th or so... whenever the second round starts.

I'm so glad I got this before going home for Thanksgiving. 🙂

Have a good holiday, everyone!

CONGRATS!
I'm sure you weren't at all anxious...
Now have a beer, and bring on the turkey, and forget about it for a couple months. (Yeah right)

I dont feel pressure cause its the 1st round as much as I am nervous cause this is my 1st interview and i dont want know what to expect. I'm also a little worried about the ethical questions. oh well, if you have an interview please post your experiences. best of luck to everyone and congrats to everyone that received an interview.

It looks like OU will be in Miami this year, BOOMER SOONER! 😀

I don't know how OU is setting up their interviews this year but I thought it was highest score first. However I have a 30P with a 3.79 gpa and i'm in-state if that matters and also I'm an electrical engineer. Anyways, I got my invite for a Nov 30 interview. I hope they didn't get mixed up and think I applied MD/PHD. Well wish me luck...I'm really nervous as this is my 1st interview.

does everyone's interview invite say that the interview is at 9:00AM? it says that is the interview time, but i think maybe it means that is when the day actually begins. do yours say the same thing?

So to those who interviewed on the very 1st day, how was it? How did you prepare for the interview? Anyone know of any good websites that discuss healthcare issues or ethical questions?

Mine says it will be at 11:00. OU does groups of interviews at 9, 10 and 11. It's kind of bad cause if you interview early you miss out on some of their information.

Is it that time again? Why it seems like just yesterday I was a hopeful applicant. Wow I feel so much older now. Med school has a way of beating the life out of you, make you contemplate suicide and doubt God's existence. But I'm sure you guys will do great. Just so you know Mod 230 is now accepting application. Do you have what it takes to be in the raddest mod since my dog was washed away in the flood of '36? If so bring your application and $50 application fee to ummm...me. Well good luck and get out before your in debt.

Hey wordup,

It's about time that you showed up. Your mom and I were beginning to wonder where you've been. How's that whole cold thing doing? Do you know everything there is to know about cranial nerves? I've been staring for hours and all that remains........a tangled mass of confusion. Btw, mod 231 could destroy 230 anyday. You shouldn't scare the soon-to-be-ms1s. Save the "shock and awe" for the first 46 page biochem test...That's when you know that you've arrived and your former, lesser mortal life is over.

what its not all drinking martinies all day, and cramming the night before?

I prefer beer pong, and cramming for 5 weeks before. It's the road to survival paved with the least souls trampled amongst the masses.

Ah yes, the 46 page biochem tests. The stinking mass of cellulose must take a small tree for each test. So much for that whole paperwork reduction act thing.

I'm not sure about your dog, Word. Maybe our fish tank has a big leak.

No, although some would have you to believe it. Most of the people up here are studyoholics and don't drink. The post exam block weekend is really the only time that anyone really parties. It's good to cut loose after 7 or 8 days with only a couple of hours of sleep everyday.

When I began school here, I had a negative impression b/c of the rumors about the excessive partying here. I thought that school would be much easier than it has been to this point, and I believe that most of us fell that way. I was amazed during the first exam block at the amount of material. However, we've adjusted for the most part. I can honestly say that my classmates, Wordup and Oudoc included, are some of the brightest and most responsible people that I've ever been associated with. I can assure you that medical school here will be the most massive and rewarding undertaking that you will ever volunteer yourself for. We are all serious about our education or we wouldn't be here working ourselves to death-and enjoying it. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Who else is still waiting for an interview? Am I the only one on this board? 🙁
It's starting to get to me. Anyone know if they will ask about fall grades in the interview? (if I get one 😱 ) I'm so unmotivated to work on my organic!!
I think my kids spilled something on the keyboard and all the keys are sticking together! Those boys!!

Listen here meathead...face....butt, 230 is 2 dirrrty. It rhymes sharp you can't argue with it. What is 231? 2 dirrty one that is just stupid and sad. Pffft wannabe's.

Waiting for an interview sucks. Sorry to those of you who haven't heard yet. I'm sure that they'll be sending out letters for more interviews in January soon. From all that I've heard, they have only sent out the letters for the interviews this week and early January. There will be more interviews. Additionally, they may be waiting to see how you did this semester, so try to stay motivated (hard in organic, I know). In the mean time, check with the admissions office to make sure that everything is in if you haven't already. Something lost in the mail shouldn't keep you from an interview. Good luck, hope you hear something soon.

I'm also waiting for a Jan letter. I'm about ready to freak and its getting near finals week here at OU Norman...

:scared: :scared: :scared: 👎

ya i definitely wouldnt screw off my senior semester fall year it might still matter, thats what the spring is for 😀.

Wow. OU is amazing. the interview was very laid back, and they truly do want to get to know you. I talked politics, OU football, about my sports radio talk show, and other random things. The facilities are great. Dean Hall was very nice and accomodating. She was extremely supportive. The students were all quite helpful, and spending the past day and half on campus I noticed that there is no cut throat competition 👍 . Everyone works together. The interviews were very organized and the tours were very chill. I'm hoping to hear some good news on Dec. 14/15. The match list is really impressive, many students got into very competitive residencies. The only bummer was that they said itll be pretty tough to get tickets to OU football games if you did not attend undergrad there. Overall the interview experience was wonderful. Boomer Sooner and good luck to everyone! 😀

Even if you can't get good tix, there's always someone who has them that can't go to the game. You can almost always find them floating around up here for at or below face value. There's a few people who are selling their big 12 championship tickets right now on hippocrates at face value.

BOOMER SOONER
BIG XII Champs!!!!
Orange Bowl, here we come!

I certainly feel alot better now than I did at the same time last year. USC should be a good game.

This is going to be a great game. I'm really thinking USC is overrated, especially how they barely beat UCLA. I'm planning on going to the Orange Bowl with some friends that go to OU (If they reject me though ill be extremely pissed and may have to root for USC 😉 ).

Adrian Peterson's 3rd TD was sick. BOOMER SOONER!!!

its hard to root for OU after the thumping they gave us, but i guess i'lll root for hte confernce, plus the money is shared right? 😀. To me auburn and OU should be in it, the pac 10 is crap.

As of 12/3 the admissions director said they are in the process of scheduling the last 7 days of interviews and will be sending out letters as soon as possible. So, I guess there are still several interview spots left.

on my interview day, Dr. Hall mentioned that she was waiting to send the acceptance/rejection letters out until she had the scholarship stuff done. did any of you guys that are at ouhsc now get any scholarship money? it seemed that there was an implication that this money is somewhat extensive. is it?

Most people got it. I'm getting about half of my tuition paid every semester. There is quiet a bit of money. Additionally, if you are a minority, there are several scholarships for which you will qualify.

wow congrats on the sweet scholarship. what kind of stats do you need to receive the scholarship? my interviewers mentioned to me about being a possible candidate for scholarship, which definitely surprised me (Dr. Hall did mention the scholarship offers with the acceptance letters).
I'm patiently waiting til Dec. 14/15 :scared: .

thanks and good luck everyone.

Do Asian Indians count as a minority? I know they don't in college, so they probably don't in med school either.

I'm pretty sure that most of the scholarships are primarily need based. However, that doesn't mean that you have to be poor to get one. I know people whose parents make 100K+ and got it. I guess that I should clarify the amount of my scholarship (which is pretty standard) which is 3K a semester. That's a little less than half of the tuition, but far better than nothing (I think that tuition is running over 7K/semester).

My basic stats: 32P MCAT, 4.0 GPA

Hello everyone! I just wanted to ask the current OU med students a few questions. I was thinking about applying to OU COM PA program. I was wondering if you all interact with the PA students at all? Do the PA students have access to Hippocratese? (sorry for the spelling) Also, do the scholarships you have received possibly run over into PA studies as well? I know that this is a different area of study, but since it falls under the college of medicine I thought you might have some insight.

Thanks.

Check you inbox. The med students really don't have any contact with the PA people, but I sent you an email of a friend of mine who is in the program.

So how many people out there including myself are still waiting for an interview? Seriously, having this much anxiety over one piece of paper is not cool at all.

Btw, any of you guys been looking through the interview logs? I think I saw a couple new questions they're asking now and a lot of the old ones.

For luck: :luck:

I'm still waiting for an interview also.

The committee seems to like to ask "How do you handle stress?" and "What will you contribute to the class?"

The interviews seem to be better organized this year also.

Or a horrific series of newly adopted postal holidays. :scared:

I hope that you guys hear something soon.

I have two friends applying this year to join me...one already heard that he will not be joining next year's class, but I've got my fingers crossed for all of you.
Last year they asked me "What would you consider your biggest failure?" They did ask me how I handled stress (although I do handle it differently being in here) What would I most like to change about myself? What would my friends say about me if they were in my place. I hope that helps if you're even wanting to know. All in all though, I had a good interview experience last year, unlike what I heard from a lot of people.
The postal service is icky. They held my acceptance letters last year.

The letter finally arrived today to interview on Jan 19th.

How did your friend find out he was rejected? Did he already have an interview, because at the interview they said they would have decisions to us by dec. 14/15.

Does an acceptance letter come in a big or thin envelope?

My rejection letter from last year was a single sheet of paper in a standard sized envelope.
