I was hoping that too, but not the case. I called OU; they said all waitlisters get the FA award notice. I probably received it before you because I live in Norman, Oklahoma. Keepin on waitin!lfesiam said:hey frogmed! my guts tell me you'll get a nice big red letter soon!!! why would they send FA to a waitlist candidate otherwise!? well, i'll have my fingers crossed, congrats ahead!
JoeHuffmanOU said:Hey everyone,
I was kinda hoping that some current students could answer a few questions. I was just wondering what OU students typically do for housing. Like are most people living within a few miles of campus or are most people going to commute 15-20 minutes. What areas of the city do most med students live? How important is it to be really close to campus? What would be your advice as far as buying/renting goes? Anyone have any experience with townhouse/condo type housing?
Sorry I have so many questions! Thanks a lot!

No word here from admissions. I'm not going to get worried until June.lfesiam said:hey ginzo, frogmed, =)
any news from the admission office?
Amxcvbcv said:Browsing the OUHSC web site, it seems that the first day of classes this fall will be the 22nd of August, not the 15th.
Does this fit with or contradict what other people have heard/seen?
Does this mean the white coat ceremony will be the 20th? I need to get this sorted out, so my mother can request off the right days (she lives in Colorado).

Is it all covered by the Student Health Fee?

so far, 4 spaces are available am I right?
i'm going to call early next week and check on the waitlist movement.
houseMD is on tonight! don't miss it!

I verified this with Dr. Hall at the HSC.
Orientation is the 10th through the 12th of August.
The White Coat Ceremony is at 7PM on the 12th at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
Classes begin August 15th, a week before the rest of the campus.
I look forward to meeting you all on the 10th!
For those of you on the waitlist, look forward to the 15th of May! Beginning that day, people can only hold one admission, so I bet you'll start hearing more then!![]()

I really like the looks of THE (www.northstar.org) based on their fees (lack thereof, actually) and payment incentives. They have a nice calculator that lets you see what the savings will be based on different loan totals, repayment periods, and interest rates (https://www.theloanprogram.org/tlc/Calculators/BenefitsCmp.aspx).

You're a pilot right? I'm starting flight school this summer. Can't wait.
Been wanting to do it for a long time, and finally found a program I like, have the time/money, etc.

lfesiam said:thanks oudoc, i have a question, do parents & extended family members usually come to the white coat ceremony??? or is it a low key internal event at OU?
true story from an MD on woman w/ diet problems: I was caring for a woman from Kentucky and asked, "So, how's your breakfast this morning?" "It's very good, except for the Kentucky Jelly. I can't seem to get used to the taste," the patient replied. I then asked to see the jelly and the woman produced a foil packet labeled "KY Jelly."

I think that you just have to pass with a C average, with no grade lower than a C. Does anybody else know?pbehzad said:Ok so I'm officially done with undergraduate. I took my last final today, and now its one constant party until graduation which is Monday.
Does anyone know if we need a certain gpa requirement for the last semester? I'm a little afraid I may not get a 3.0 this semester, and dont want my admission to get revoked in the summer.
Could some of the current med students confirm that all you need to do is make a 2.0?
Thanks
Ginz20 said:Thanks for the encouragement, but I don't think I can share your optimism. If it does end in rejection it will be easier to accept if I have not had any expectations. Also, for those of you who submitted a letter of intent what did you include?
