I'm a nontraditional student who is about to graduate and apply to med school this May. Since AACOMAS have changed the rules, I'm wondering what your guys take on my upward trend is.

Year in school- Senior.
Country/state of residence - Oklahoma
Schools to which you are applying- OU, OSU-COM, KCU-COM, PSNW-COM, DMU
Cumulative GPA- 3.01 cGPA. My first 3 semesters were in 2008-2009. Without those semesters, My GPA would be ~3.5. Before ACCOMAS changed, my replaced GPA would be ~3.4
Science GPA - 3.08 sGPA. But like stated about, it would be a ~3.5 without those semesters. and a ~3.5 if grade replacements were still a thing.
MCAT Scores - 499, 503
Research – 2.5 Years of research. no publications. But currently am the lead undergrad researcher. Paid position
Volunteering (clinical) – Local hospital ER. +300 hrs
Physician shadowing– 16 IR department, 8 clinicals of spinal surgeon, 8 ER, more scheduled
Non-clinical volunteering - none right now, but plan on getting involved over the next year
Extracurricular activities - prehealth club? Music, running
Employment history - 3 years construction, 5 years resturant/customer service, 2 years research
Please include time span and weekly commitment for volunteering/research/shadowing/extracurriculars. - I volunteer every other sunday at the ER. I also put in about 10-15 hours at the lab.
Immediate family members in medicine? (y/n) - my deceased parents were collectively a RN and an RT
Specialty of interest - No idea. haha, I have several, but I don't think I'll know until clinicals
Graduate degrees - Biochemistry
Interest in rural health - Location wise no, but I would like to be apart of a group that helps rural populations.

Edit: Heres an illustration of my trend

You should be able to receive some interviews at the newer DO schools, even without grade replacement. Consider applying to all these schools in June and submit all your secondaries by July.
ACOM
ARCOM
BCOM
WCU-COM
LMU-DCOM
UP-KYCOM
WVSOM
LUCOM
VCOM (all 3 schools)
UIWSOM
RVU-Utah
NYIT-Arkansas
any new schools that open for 2018 (there will be several).

Thanks for the list! I'll be sure to apply to a couple of them. Do you think it would be worth it to retake the MCAT? I'm sure I can do better. However, I won't have time to study for it until the summer, so I'd have to update my applications probably in august.

I can't recommend retaking the MCAT because the odds of your doing better aren't that great, despite what you feel.

Add LECOM to the Faha's list

Thanks, I appreciate that your addition to the list! I'm very confident I can do better despite statistics being against me. However, I'd rather wait until next cycle to put the hours into studying assuming I do not get in this one.

Thanks for all you do Goro!

You mention that you have a graduate degree in biochemistry...why isn't that GPA included (listed)? AACOMAS includes graduate GPAs as apart of your cum, so you might be in better shape than you think.

Sorry, that is misleading. My degree I will be graduating with will be in Biochemistry
