Hey Guys,

I have a problem with one of the LORs I submitted to ERAS. It was difficult for me to procure three new LORs because I have only really worked closely with two Attendings/Consultants since graduation. As a result I submitted an old LOR (along with two new ones) that I had gotten after I finished Med School from one of my lecturers (also an Attending). The letter gives a description of my clinical attributes, discipline, bed-side manner. However, it recommends me for registration with the Medical Board of my country.
I got an email from ERAS asking me if I want to scan this LOR or not because of this issue.
Is it a problem that the letter is not addressed to the "Program Director"? I thought the important thing was that it gave a good description of my clinical skill.
What should I do?

It would be better if the letter was specifically about getting a residency spot. Still, you'll need three letters to apply so if it's the best you've got, you'll need to submit it. An old letter, designed for something else, doesn't really speak well for you.

Thanks for your input. I was worried that this might be the case. However, as you said, it's the best that I've got. The other two letters are very recent (a few weeks) and are designed specifically for a residency spot. So at this point all I can do is include the old letter as well and hope for the best. Thanks again.
