Once you have been invited to an interview, does the school consider your stats anymore or is it just based on how well you did on the interview?

thanks, and sorry for the wrong forum post.

However, each school may put a different value on GPA, DAT, and interview.

usually interviews are weighted by some point system. Some schools will delegate as much as 40% of your points to your interview, PS, LOE and EC. Some schools value mainly your stats so after the interview your numbers get plugged into some spreadsheet and you will be again compared to the group, only now of selected post interview ones. Some schools will get together every couple of weeks and make a decision, some once a month, some will get selection done after they interviewed everybody pre Dec.
Some schools like UOP have very high acceptance rate so they would not invite you if they are not offering you spot. So unless you have major physical or mental disability suddenly found during interview you pretty much in. Some schools interview a lot of students so invite there is long shot....

it is not a closed file intervew. they will have all you info. in their hand...must review you app. well.

Of course. All things being equal, if they like two applicants equally and can't decide based purely on the interview, who do you think they'll pick? Also, good stats tend to give an interviewer a more favorable impression from the get-go, even before the interview starts.

good point. If I were an interviewer, seeing really good stats would put me in a good mood.

all good points. I was just thinking that maybe once you get invited for the interview, it means that they're ready to accept you, they just have to make sure you're not a coo-coo. But what you guys said makes sense.

The available evidence suggests that the interview is on par with science gpa in terms important in the selection process. These are followed by overall gpa and lors. The overall gpa and manual dexterity are quite a bit further down the list and are on equal footing, but the number of response on manual dexterity are slightly more than one half making the ranking pretty arbitrary.

hahaha, awfully specific assumption to make... and that link is vaguely related... posts like these are the problem with SDN in a nutshell... "the available evidence suggests"?? give me a break

I think they are ready to accept you. Each school knows its own yield so depending on it they have to interview more people and offer appropriate number of acceptances. So for those who will be interviewed pre Dec but not hear good news on Dec 1 it is very important not to give up if it is your top choice school and follow up with new grades, extra LOE, extra shadowing, letter of interest and other updates to show school your interest.

Well, the link shows how important the interview is... even though there is no "evidence" referring to whether or not schools look at stats after the interview.

Oh yeah, here comes one of doc toothache's signature retaliations.

If the survey done by the ADA is not to your standards and does not deserve the "available evidence suggests" you can certainly make up something more to your liking. But you are right, what is sorely needed on SDN are more posts with personal opinions and anecdotal evidence.

I believe someone mentioned at Tufts interview feedback that while it is open file, interviewers have all your info but numbers so evaluation of interview itself is based purely on your discussion. I think most schools do open file interview but it is not clear if they eliminate grades out of it.
Also if you read old posts specially those post Jan, more and more you hear about some schools sending either emails to respond with letter of interest or direct phone calls asking if person still interested. So personal fact of interest becomes more prominent post Dec 1 to receive that invite.

Some schools ignore stats after interview invites are sent out, I know Pitt does this.

Hi VICVIPER

How do you know pitt does not look at the stats after interview is offered? My application is outstanding, but had a bad luck during DAT and my stat is not great. I am going to pitts Monday and would love the idea that you suggested. Please let me know.

Thanks
