I need to find a quick online course for Biochem, needs to be from a nationally accredited school. The easier the better of course. I need to be done by July 16th. I have found a couple that would work but wanted to get some input. Thanks in advance.
dont do it. most schools dont accept online courses as valid prereqs. you might have to repeat this course in person if you choose the online route. take it at a regular college.
Thanks for the advice, but most schools DO accept online courses now as long as they are nationally accredited. More importantly, the school I am going to specifically said it just needs to be from a nationally accredited school. Of course I would make sure with them before hand, but I am just looking for some options if anyone has some suggestions. Thanks
I second that a lot of school do accept online courses, as long as its accredited. The class I'm taking isn't really fully "online" per se. You just learn all the material through DVD lectures and the book, and then take one final exam at the school, which is proctored and requires a photo ID. the one exam determines your grade in the entire class.
Also, I don't think there are schools that require a biochemistry lab? I might be mistaken.
This is a non all-inclusive list that has been posted to the course web page of the biochem class that I'm in. This list was composed by students asking the schools if they'd accept the course. Not all schools have been asked. Obviously this isn't posted directly from a school's website saying "online classes are accepted", but judging by the wide array of programs that accept this course, including medical, PA, and dental, it would seem at least some online courses are accepted.
Perhaps it's that the one final exam for this class is proctored? I dunno.
Of course there's also a fine line between "accepted" and "preferred". I would venture to say that it's preferred you take it in a classroom, but I wasn't able to do so under current circumstances. This seemed like the next best thing. Of course, I also plan on asking any schools that require biochemistry if they'll accept this course to verify. I'd then request that those programs be added to this list.

please show me a link where it says you can do online classes. I've never ever heard of that and if thats true id really like to see that.
Where are you getting that online courses are not valid? Do you have a source? In the ADEA manual it says nothing about them.
Furthermore, at many schools (mine included) there is nothing on your transcript that specifies or indicates it was taken online. Just looks like a regular class. I have had several friends get into a number of dschools with online Physics.

So like I said most schools dont accept online courses, there are 5 d-schools on this list and there's no proof that this is even accurate. I'm just telling what everyone on this site always says and I remember explictly reading on at least 1 schools site that online courses were not acceptable.
Do as you like, but it could blow up in your face and you might have to retake the course in person. The choice is obv yours.
I do appreciate you warning me about online courses, but frankly, that is not what I asked. I asked about any online biochem classes that people may know about. Why? because I talked to my potential school and they told me online is fine as long as they are accredited. And i'm not stupid, I'm gonna check with them before signing up for it.
slow your role chief! before you start with the name calling and what not. Doing the research by confirming with schools, like ND is doing, is the proper way to go about it. I am simply telling you what most people on here assume. You can do what you like and how you like it. In terms of labs, some schools require 4 credits of biochem and that might or might not entail a lab because a non-lab biochem course is usually around 3 credits.
In the end of the day if the schools tells you that its OK then its ok. But theres no explicit statement on any schools site that states "online courses are accepted." I have seen at least one school where they said that online courses are not accepted.
Do more of the research and less of the name calling, esp when people try to help you out. A nasty attitude wont get you far in d-school.
I've started an initiative of emailing every dental school, haha. I already heard back from Arizona. Yes they accept the course I'm in, and yes they accept online classes as long as they are from an accredited school. I'm keeping a spreadsheet of the results and when I have it completed I'll post it for everyone to review.
