Is there any efficient way of finding out which programs have open PGY-1 positions for the year 2001-2002? I'm looking for Family Practice and Internal Medicine positions that have not been filled. Thanks.

Hi Doctor Bob...

There are two resources and you can find links to them both on Scutwork.com home page.

First is the list of Unfilled programs from the NRMP. Obviously this doesn't include positions which were filled during the scramble so it may be a bit misleading, as many of the spots will be filled by now. But it may at least give you an idea who *might* have spots available.

Secondly, is the link to Unfilled/Open residency positions on the lower left side of the home page. It will take you to a page of links and you can find links there to the AMA Residency site, AAFP, etc. I'm not sure how frequently these are updated, but its worth a check.

Finally, sometimes the word of mouth is best. If you are in the US, you might ask the Department Chair at your school if he knows of any open spots which you could get.

Best of luck!
