Ophthalmology Match

Hello! I'm on the lookout for anyone who might have gone through the ophthalmology match this cycle. My close friend applied and today was their match day. It sounds like it's not structured the same as VIRMP and you only get contacted if you match rather than everyone finding out all at once if you match or not? We aren't too sure and can't find anything online about it. Hoping the community will come to the rescue and someone might know someone who has or is going through the ophtho match that can help out! Thank you!

A friend went through the ophtho match too! It’s exactly that, you’ll get warned ahead of time if 2 places have ranked you first, but otherwise, matched people all got calls around noon today (unsure of which time zone). My friend matched, so they did get calls today. I’m guessing if there was no call, they didn’t match 🙁

Does your friend know if ophtho does some sort of scramble post-match as well for unfilled spots? Thank you so much for helping give us some answers!

I think they call down their lists if there’s an unfilled spot, but it sounds like internships and stuff is mostly word of mouth. I didn’t get the impression they have an unmatched list like VIRMP
