I'm going to throw up <3Match Day is so close!
I'm going to throw up <3Match Day is so close!
Doomscrolling and just sitting on my bed or cleaning my apartment all weekend to avoid thinking about it/make the time go by faster then anxiously refreshing my computer every 30 seconds Monday AM starting at like 7:55am 🤪How's everyone preparing for the big day?
Trying not to think too much about it. I start Neuro that day, so I am planning to either celebrate or panic for 10 minutes, then head to orientation and appointments. In the end, it will all work out. How's everyone preparing for the big day?
Luckily I have paperwork due Saturday so I'll be working on records but sunday I fear I will not be able to sleep lolHow's everyone preparing for the big day?
Awww I was starting Neuro the day of match last year! Hopefully you have the luck I had last year 😊Trying not to think too much about it. I was in a staff meeting when I saw the email pop up on my watch and I was like why am I tachycardic since we all know it's not until Monday 🤣Just had a total heart attack when the title of the email from VIRMP popped up on my phone previews (“VIRMP Match Results Available…”) even though I knew they’re not out til Monday 😅 Why does this feel exactly like vet school admissions?!
Never been more thankful to be on ER. I work so much and have such busy shifts that I don’t have time to worry 😅How's everyone preparing for the big day?
I made a little match day sign to take pictures with because I am manifesting good news in the morning
Same here! Matched to a rotating internship (academic) that reached out to some folks, but I never heard from them.I've now become one of those people who matched to a program that does interviews without having heard anything from the program and without interviewing
THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD ALWAYS RANK WHERE YOU WANT TO GO REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU HEARD
The most important thing you can do is keep your grades up, make connections with professors so that you can get strong letters of reference, and find the things that fill your cup, because that last part is going to be critically important during internship and you won't have time to figure it out during that year.If anyone on this thread matched for a small animal rotation / exotics internship I would love to get in contact and talk STATS / anything I can do in my next 2 years of vet school to bulk up my resume / chances of matching in a few years! (current 2nd year trying to match in 2 years!)
I did! did you happen to get any welcome email yet? I want to get to know our new class!Anyone get AMC in NY? Wanted to meet some of my future internmates! 🙂
I matched to VERG for rotating!!! So excited! And late to the party! LolMatched into my first choice for surgery internship! Did anyone else match into VERG?
@gartersotter and @SocialStigma are both boarded surgeons. I will be starting a surgical oncology specialty internship in a couple months. If there are any small animal surgery / orthopedic interns or residents in here (or any you know of) that would be willing to chat, I would love to hear about your journey in vet school and how you got to where you are today! Currently a first year that would love some advice and guidance 🙂 Congrats to you all for matching!!
Sorry I am late to respond! I just have gotten a couple emails about forms and housing but nothing in terms of connecting all of us.I did! did you happen to get any welcome email yet? I want to get to know our new class!
Happy to chat if you want to send me a DM.If there are any small animal surgery / orthopedic interns or residents in here (or any you know of) that would be willing to chat, I would love to hear about your journey in vet school and how you got to where you are today! Hello all, a friend of mine had a very good question and I didn't know the answer to give them. With the human med match having just happened, apparently MD and DO students if they don't match and have to go through the scramble they can choose a different specialty to try and match into for residency to try and secure a spot somewhere. Like if someone wanted surgery but didn't match so they scramble into IM. Is that something that's been done with the VIRMP match before? If someone tries to match lets say diagnostic imaging residency but they don't match into anything and there's openings for rad onc in the scramble is it possible to try and scramble into that open residency position instead? I wasn't sure how similar VIRMP and MD/DO match was so I figured I would ask my fellow dogtors and see! Thanks everyone!
Yes, this can happen. Human med scrambles are much more 'you'll get what you get' because they have to match somewhere to continue on in life, though.Hello all, a friend of mine had a very good question and I didn't know the answer to give them.
