How do you guys feel about optional essays and prompts asking if there is anything else you would like the committee to know?

I am not the best writer and I can't decide if it would be a bad idea to not fill out the optional essays.

What have you guys been doing?

if you cant write, then dont. that simple
optional is optional

I think for 90% of people this can be left blank. I am non-trad so I used this space as a (very) brief timeline not covered in my PS.

Do you think schools look at it in a negative way though? I do not want to come off as uninterested or something.

I would be able to get a solid essay in the end but it would take me a lot longer than I planned on spending on secondaries. Many of these optional essays were not posted in the school specific threads so I did not get a chance to start on them ahead of time.

Sounds like a good opportunity to update your application since you submitted your primary, especially if it has been months or you were on the cusp of accomplishing something significant (i.e. submitting a manuscript, about to study abroad).
