I've heard some people saying they attach optional essays to secondaries (that weren't even asked for). In other words, can you attach an essay to a secondary in which there is no prompt for an essay at all?

thanks

I wouldn't recomend it...giving a school something they didn't ask for may be giving them a reason to reject you...I think its best just to give schools exactly what they want...and if you have something else you want to express, it'd be a good idea to do so at the interview or in a letter after your interview....

It just seems that the med schools only want and need what the ask for to decide whether or not they want to interview someone...I'd just keep it at that.

dont do it. it would be an annoyance to send them more than what they ask for unless they say its ok. they already have a lot of work as it is and if someone doesnt like to follow directions then put that app "eh, maybe we'll deal with it later" pile.
