Order the Official PCAT Practice Test

Pearson, Inc. will be giving away Official PCAT Practice Tests to three lucky members. Winners for each raffle will be drawn from among the members who post questions about the product or otherwise meaningfully contribute to the discussion.

The Official PCAT Practice Test was developed by the publishing company that develops and administers the actual PCAT exam. Items are drawn from the same item bank as the actual PCAT exam and aligned to the current test structure.

Over 80% of the items have appeared on actual test forms, and all have been written specifically for the PCAT exam.

The Practice Test includes:
· Detailed descriptions of the Writing subtest, including sample essays that illustrate each score point.
· Five PCAT multiple-choice subtests, with correct answers and explanations for each item, and a timer provided if you choose to simulate timed conditions like the actual PCAT exam.
· A separate printable Diagnostic Report for each of the five multiple-choice subtests and for the Composite score (the five multi-choice sections combined).

Is the test printable? I remember seeing that it was online somewhere, but it would be nice since the real test is on paper.

Thanks for your question. You will be entitled to five PCAT multiple-choice subtests (not printable), with correct answers and explanations for each question, and a timer is provided if you choose to simulate timed conditions like the actual PCAT. You will also receive a Composite Diagnostic Report summarizing the results of the five Subtest Diagnostic Reports. At any time while using the Practice Test, you may choose to score an individual subtest. Once you choose to score a subtest, you will be able to continue to review the questions and print out a Diagnostic Report as many times as you wish from your date of purchase until the end of the PCAT test cycle.

How many practice questions does each subtest contain? Does it have same numbers of question like an actual PCAT has?

Great Question! The PCAT Practice Tests contain the same number of items as the actual PCAT. Each of the 5 multiple choice subtests on both the PCAT Practice Tests and actual PCAT have 48 items for a grand total of 240 items.

When is the end of the pcat test cycle? In other words, when do you stop having access to Pearson's practice tests?

In answer to your question, once you choose to score a subtest, you will be able to continue to review the questions and print out a Diagnostic Report as many times as you wish from your date of purchase until the end of the PCAT test cycle, which ends with the January PCAT test date.

Thanks for your question. At this time Pearson does not change the practice tests at each testing cycle. We currently have two practice tests available for purchase and are planning to add more practice tests in the immediate future.

Does Pearson keep any data on people who have taken the practice test and the actual PCAT? What I mean is, are scores compared against each other to see if a person who does well on the practice pcat does well on the actual pcat? Ex. Students who take the Pearson Practice PCAT have an 85% chance of scoring the same or better on the real PCAT.

Maybe just a thought or an idea if there isn't that data available yet. I could see this as being a strong statistic in encouraging students to take the practice test.

Also I'm sure some people are wondering when you'll be raffling as well?

Thank you for your feedback. Pearson is collecting data at this time on examinees who have taken the Practice Test as well as the actual PCAT exam. Comparative analyses have shown that individuals who took a Practice Test before taking the actual PCAT earned significantly higher PCAT scores than those who did not take the Practice Test first. Some differences to be considered when interpreting the results are the Practice Test allows you to skip between subtests, view explanations, use references and provide a choice for timed conditions, while the actual exam is administered in a controlled environment, with no references and under timed conditions.

After Test Prep Week closes the winner will be determined by the SDN staff. Winners of the product raffle will be notified after January 28.
