Ether should only barely be miscible in water since ether can participate in hydrogen bond accepting. For the sake of the DAT, ether is classified as an organic solvent and only organic solutes are soluble in it.
Diethyl ether, another common organic solvent however, is great for grignard/organometallic reaction since it won't have side reaction due to its lack of acidic protons and coordinating properties.
Only cyclic ethers are miscible in water because their oxygen atoms are exposed for hydrogen bonding with water. Acyclic (aliphatic) ethers are not miscible in water.
