Garry11 said:Guys I got a question how important is what you get in organic chemistry is to dental schools? Lets say your a B+ student?..Does a C or a C+ hurt your chances if you get and 18 on the DAT.
DrTacoElf said:Depends more on orgo section performance. I would say 20+ in orgo would help out.
gatorchc27 said:I got a C in orgo I and II and I've been pretty worried about it as well. I haven't taken the DAT yet, but I was hoping that doing well on the DAT will make up for it. Right now I have a 3.49 overall GPA and a 3.18 Science. After this semester I could potentially bring it up to over a 3.5 overall and about a 3.3 science. Also, I've been doing research for over a year and should have a few publications soon. I've volunteered about 100 hours, 50 being in an Emergency Dental clinic. So....any comments?
Thanks!
gatorchc27 said:Thanks for the encouragment. I'm a junior right now, so I"ll be starting the whole DAT process pretty soon. What year are you?
gatorchc27 said:That was an idea I was considering. I'd love to take some time to travel. Good job on your Orgo DAT score. Did you do anything in particular to prepare for the Orgo section?
dr_benj said:Just to give you an idea....I got a C in both semesters of o-chem....17 on ochem DAT (20 TS)....Low 3 GPA and got accepted to 4 schools (3 were my top choices). I think most schools place little emphasis on o-chem other than the fact that you took it. They know how it is and how it varies from undergrad school to school.
