hey all,
i think ive got down all the functional groups etc for orgo, but the questions that seem to stump me are the ones comparing the bp/mp/solubility/acidity/etc. of different molecules that have different functional groups. do you think we could discuss the rankings of the functional groups, or just general characteristics that affect all of these measurements?

Also, for gen chem, are we responsible for knowing constant values (Boltzman, Rydberg, Gas, etc.), or are they given with the problem?

And why not throw a bio question in here..what are peoples' experiences with studying plants, and in particular the taxonomy? im already going crazy trying to remember the most basic stuff for animal phylogeny, and throwing bryophytes, etc in there sounds like hell (with three full study days left). Is that material tested?

Also, another gen chem question. KBB says with the second law of thermo that entropy must increase for a spontaneous reaction, right? but then it says the greatest entropy value occurs at equilibrium? all that theoretical stuff on entropy just confuses me.

How much ATP is produced from CELLULAR RESPIRATION? seems like an easy question, but KBB says that CELLULAR respiration doesn't include glycolysis, so i'm not sure if the answer should be 36, 34 (-2sub level from glyc), or 32?

I doubt it, they just give you answers set up with constants in them so you don't have to memorize.

Yes.

It's 36. I'm pretty sure cellular respiration refers to the entire process.

Have you considered pushing your test date back?

no i havent, but thanks for the vote of confidence. three full days should be enough to study phylogeny.
