Osteopathic Physician Assistants?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yea there are OPA schools. The admissions standards are generally less competitive than for traditional PA schools but the education is just as good and they usually favor non trads. You usually need to shadow an OPA to get some insight into the differences an osteopathic physician assistant may face. There is a stigma associated with OPAs but it usually fades into professional life.

The curriculums are the same and there is currently a merger in the works to bring physician assistants and osteopathic physicians assistants training into becoming more standardized. However, many feel that bias will remain and simply calling them equal will not remove the stigmas. It will however reduce burden of extra paperwork since there will be one application for PA and OPA schools.
