Is there an osteopathic medical school that does not have a rolling admissions cycle? I mean, is there a school in which it will not harm you to apply after the Aug. MCAT? I know that there are a few allopathic schools out there that do this, but I am really hoping for a DO school to as well. Thanks!

TCOM does not use a rolling admissions process and it would not hurt to take the August MCAT. However, TCOM has a preference for Texas residents and they only accept about 10% of each class from out-of-state. You need to look at when each schools begin their interview process. Some schools, like OSU in Tulsa, don't start interviewing until October so taking the MCAT in August would not hurt you. You should still apply to schools that you want to attend even if the interviewing period begins in Aug/Sept. I don't think that taking the Aug MCAT would be that much of a disadvantage. I took the Aug MCAT last year and I did not have any problems.

Good Luck! 😀

Hi, I applied to five DO schools and three MD schools after the Aug. MCAT. I interviewed at four of the DO and two of the MD schools and will be attending NSU-COM this fall. So I guess my point is that it does not matter whether the school has rolling admissions or not. Pick the schools that you would like to go to and go for it!! Good luck,

I applied to two DO schools and one MD school after taking the August MCAT and was accepted to all three (all with rolling admissions). The trick is to fill out your AACOMAS and AMCAS apps before you get your scores back, so they are waiting on the MCAT response. If you didn't do well on the MCAT, at least you were prepared and you can try again next year--the experience is worth it.

Good Luck! 🙂
