OSU-COM Discussion Thread 2010-2011

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
thanks for the linky ^^

Do we get 2 pages per question or all the questions together need to fit on 2 total pages?

Any suggested, font, font size, spacing?

Also, anyone found it weird they require a picture?

They require a picture because they link your phone number to your picture and file information so that when you call or when the committee looks you up, they can see who they're talking to/about.

I did everything on two pages total. Use any sans serif font, but other than that it doesn't matter.

hi,

What's the smallest font size you think could be used? I think the default is 12, but any idea if it can be lower to try and squeeze in more text?

As for the picture, is it head shot or full body?

thanks ^^

I believe i remember it specifying a bust shot, from about the belly button up.

Hey guys. Well, Christmas is over and the new year looms. Hope the waitlist starts to move!

Hi everyone!

Does anyone know what stats are being interviewed now? I'm trying to find where I might fit into the next set of interviews...

Anyone know when they will start to fill the deadline vacancies?

Stats alone don't earn an interview at OSU, its the whole application. People with what could be considered "good" and "bad" stats could be in the same interview based on extra curriculars, job history, etc.

Anyone know when they will start to fill the deadline vacancies?
after the next round of interviews and the board convenes again.

I spoke with the school yesterday and they said they have interviews next week, which have already been filled, and then they are scheduled to interview every other week until mid-March.

Just wondering of those that are already accepted, how many shadowing hours do you have?

So... anyone know if things are starting to heat up again?

there were interviews last week... no idea whats next.

Looking at the posts from last year's thread similar to this, the wait list was revisited this week last year. Hopefully the weather doesn't throw that off. Who knows if they are keeping same schedule though...

Anyone know if calls went out yet for the early Jan interviews?

I was called on the 12th for an interview on Thursday, January 27th.

Sorry, I meant acceptance calls for the interviews a couple of weeks ago. Congrats on the interview though.

dont know if this has already been asked, but what do acceptance letters look like? and what do rejections and waitlists look like?

you get a phone call if you're accepted... then after that call they will overnight you the acceptance packet.

If you get a letter before getting a phone call, the best you can hope for is a WL spot.

To sum up whats been said:

Acceptance = Phone Call + followup FedEx packet that is overnighted.
Waitlist = Snail mail (no call)
Reject = Snail Mail (no call)

o sorry...haha.

Of the others that were accepted, how long after your interview did you have to wait for a phone call? Two weeks?

They tell you a max of two weeks, typically within 1 week however.

Good luck to everyone that's interviewing this week! OSU-COM was by far the easiest and most enjoyable interview I had. You've made it this far! Now they really just want to know how you'll fit into the class their building. Deep breaths! Relax and enjoy the day. Don't forget to ask questions!!

And don't worry when we come in and talk to you guys! We're all just weirdo med students who want to tell you how awesome you are!! Feel free to just nod and smile. 🙂

Received the acceptance call a few hours ago! Good luck to everyone with their interviews.

Congrats BeeFs, when did you interview?

I also interviewed in November but I am still on the waitlist....

I had an interview on the 13th of January and received a waitlist letter yesterday 🙁

I had no clue admission offers already started since last year. I really hope I get in.

Got a call this morning at 8am, woke up really pissed off, answered the phone to: We would like to congratulate you on being accepted into the 2015 class, fell back to sleep until 10. Best wake up call ever!

I got a call yesterday telling me that I was granted an interview at OSU. Scheduled for Feb. 11. I'm hoping I have a good interview. OSU is my #1 choice. I also applied for the Bridge Program as well, but I am assuming this interview was for the traditional path. I'm not sure, though. This is my only shot this year, as I didn't get interviews at the other schools I applied to.

First off congrats to Bravetown. When did you interview?

Longroad: Gl with your interview. You're late in the game but the only negative of such is majority of the traditional seats will be filled. If you get waitlisted or denied from this interview, an additional interview for the bridge program will be offered (if chosen) in April. The bridge is seperate from the traditional.

Yeah, I had shadowed a D.O. a few years back, but I felt that since it had been so long, I should probably shadow another D.O. for a LOR. I did that in the fall, so Dec. was about the earliest that I could get everything in. I wish that I would have done it last spring. If I don't get in the traditional route, I would be more than happy with the Bridge. If that isn't in the cards, I will definitely reapply around June. All I could do then would be to go through the reapplication process and get a job.

I didn't decide I wanted to pursue medicine until my junior year of undergrad at OU. I basically had to start all over when I switched my major to zoo: biomed. Began with a 2.96 gpa (after 2 years of undergrad) and after 4 more years of undergrad, got it up to 3.44 and 3.28 science. Then I went went to OUHSC and am finishing my MPH this semester with a 3.72 gpa. My MCAT isn't that great, 23Q. But we'll see. If they don't let me in this year, they will see me again next year. I have gone too far to give up. 🙂

Who's going to admitted student day?!?!

For everyone who is waiting either on the waitlist or for an interview don't give up. OSU has alot of late acceptances, and I don't think they have made any decisions for the DO/Masters program yet so if you are interested in getting into med school and getting a masters contact them and ask. Also as most of you know the bridge program deadline is First of March. If anyone wants information about the bridge I am in it right now so just send me a message and I will give you details about it. Just realize it is a seperate program and it isn't easy to get into. There are only 9 bridge students each year.

Monday only... We're at a loss right now becuase all of our first round tests are pushed back and the administration hasn't been too up front about whats going on.

I'm sure they are trying to figure out what's going on... Probably never planned on ever having 4 days off

In general how much time is there between the "file complete" email and the call to schedule an interview? And if you don't get an interview, are you notified? I got my file complete email from them on Dec 10th and haven't heard a thing since. Getting a little anxious here!

i actually never got a 'file complete' email. i only got a call for an interview.

Has anyone recieved a call today 02/08/11 for offer of acceptance?

I literally just got the call. Interviewed November 11, waitlisted since then.

Just got the acceptance call. Interviewed on 1/26! So happy! Going to try and celebrate despite the impending snowpocalypse part deux!

I was also accepted today. Is there a facebook for accepted students?
