I have never tried so hard in one single course as I did in World Religion honors. For the life of me I could not get that professor to give me anything more than a B+ on all my papers. It was like a tease or something... never a flat out A... just B+ straight across the board. 🙁
My World Religons course was very difficult. A lot of work.... I didn't know there was so much work with the various religions of the world. My teacher was really strict and I worked VERY hard for my A. I've told soooo many people not to take that class....

I almost took that class in undergrad, but I dropped it to do independent research.

I didn't like professors like that. Did your professor ever play favorites with people in your class? I've heard of some professor doing that in one of my science classes in undergrad.

I don't really remember because it was freshman year... but it seems like humanities professors do play favorites more than science professors... I mean the science professors were more objective because you can't really disagree or agree with the student's exams like you can with the papers or the class discussions.

Yay! At least yours was a happy post 🙂

I had my 1000th post when I wasn't having such a good day back then 🙁

Oh I made SURE it was a good one... on the off topic thread... not one where I am arguing over how many days a sperm can live inside of a woman or something like that over on the Plan B Thread.

I once had a dream related to that which freaked me out  I can tell you about it PM if you want.

Man I haven't posted in forever. I have been too busy working. I'm saving for that Camera and Euro trip!

Did you decide on a camera yet? Keep in mind that some places won't allow you in with a dSLR (or any cameras that look 'professional' but there are other cameras out there with competitive performance and picture clarity). A couple museums in Italy took away the dSLR's upon entrance lol. And for other stuff, events like Coachella is a hit-or-miss. Sometimes they'll refuse admission if you try and bring in a dSLR, depends on who checks your bag at the gate. Just keep a back-up camera with you just in case if you decide to go with a dSLR 🙂

Where are you going in Europe?

Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with the Nikon d5000. Thanks for the advice. I will be sure to keep that in mind before heading off on any sight seeing. I'm still planning on where we are going exactly with a couple buddies of mine. We are thinking about Amsterdam, Munich, Madrid, Barcelona and Rome. The trip will most likely be in July or August, before pharmacy school starts of course. =)

I got a B in World Religions and it was hard because it was a 5 week summer class with tons of essays and these stupid in class assignments with maps ans whatnot. I got kicked out of class one time because I inquired as to why the class emphasized Christianity so much when it was a World Religions class. When he couldn't answer my question, I said I wasn't paying hundreds of dollars to learn about the dominant culture here in the United States because it stares me in the face everyday. He didn't like that. Granted, it was probably out of line but I was pissed because he said all these positive things about Christians and then talked negatively about Muslims i.e. jihadists and thedecapitation for non-believers.

We had a big storm of 2 feet this past weekend, and we're supposed to get another 15 inches tonight-tomorrow....

Fed government offices in the area have been closed Mon, Tues, and Wed. I hope the offices open Thursday, but I'm doubting it ... sadface, my cells need to be looked at!

Someone cited Godwin's law in that thread ... lol

Godwin's Law (also known as Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies or Godwin's Law of Nazi Analogies) is a humorous observation made by Mike Godwin in 1990 which has become an Internet adage. It states: "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches

We haven't even approached it or come close to it for 80+ pages

I'm sure the internet and also various forums have evolved in 20 years

I guess you missed the plan B thread. Someone compared plan B to the holocaust ... 😕

I could see that happening. I hope they didn't try to press their beliefs on everyone in that thread. People are entitled to their own opinion, but they should let OPs make their own decisions.

.... It's so heated and crazy in that thread right now ... 😱

Someone picked up where Cheb left off (reading as I go in another window)

Could someone gently tell me what's happening in there ?

I know I want to look, but honestly last time I got into prochoice debate, it got so heated I literally stayed up all night arguing instead of studying for the exam. Didn't go well.

A pre-pharm and an attending physician were arguing in there and the physician was winning because the pre-pharm didn't have enough of a background to understand things fully before posting about them. The physician seems to challenge what the pre-pharm said to see if that student really understood what was going on.

The pre-pharm eventually gave up saying that the physician was hopeless.

One of my more favorite parts of the thread right now ...

Physician
I recommend you stay out of pharmacy, the same way I would recommend a Scientologist not become a psychiatrist, not a Jehova's Witness to become a scrub nurse or a surgeon. When you know that a good part of your career practice involves providing a legal product you disagree with, then either you will go against your ethics, or you're some kind of activist who WANT to control your clients access to a legal product. In either case, you have no business in the field.

love
They force me to be the type of pharmacist that I do not want to be.

Physician
Nobody force you to be a pharmacist at all.

love
Advice not appreciated. You're not in position to tell me how to handle my chosen path anyway.
...
I've never said anything about controlling women

Physician
Funny, the hypocrisy. You're certainly not shy about telling women what to do with their bodies. Sauce for the goose....
...
You have openly stated your intent to not fill legal prescriptions that serve the purpose of controlling pregnancy risks.

love
The woman want me to be forced. Peace to mind & moral are my bodily resources.
...
No body forces those women to go to the pharmacies where they know will not dispense plan B.

Physician
And yet, when they carry my prescription, they have a reasonable expectation that a legal and safe script that is part of the physician's treatment plan will be honored. You are the one who want to discriminate and push treatments based on personal belief rather than evidence-based medicine. regardless of how you try to spin it, you're in the wrong here as medicine and health care goes.

o0o0o you guys make me want to look soo badd

then I might feel the urge to make a post, which I really don't feel like doing.

That other forum has gotten quiet since I've posted

I also tend to be a cold fanatic sometimes. When it's 40 or 50 degrees outside, there are times when I have my A/C on. That girl who was from Chicago said it was too cold for her, so she turned the A/C towards my direction

Yeah- it said something about a mandate to dispense it and it asked if I would dispense it/what my moral position was, etc.

I had a pretty big problem with that question. Namely that it is such a hot button topic and you don't know what your interviewers position is. If its something different from theirs you cannot tell me their views of you will not change, even if they are supposed to be unbiased.

It's kinda like asking someone if they believe in God or not during an interview.

Yeah- I agree. I just answered it by saying I had to not only fulfill the mandate but do what is in the best interest of the patient, improve quality of life- stuff along those lines.

Being cold PISSES me off. I have no idea why, but I just do not like being cold lol

Most people are like you... I guess I'm just weird. It's really humid here all the time and I hate feeling sticky and gross. I like when it's about 30-40 degrees. That way it's kind of cold, but you're not going to die or get frostbite just walking to your car. When it's anywhere near 80 degrees I feel so tired and slow. 50 degrees is okay, but I like places where the seasons change and it might snow a few times... nothing serious like tons of snow all winter, but maybe just a little bit.

Plus, it being hot out means less clothing being worn. And THAT has its benefits 👍:meanie:
